…this is another weird thing where you make an assumption about where people spend money, which just isn’t true for me.
The last time I went to a bar or anything like that and spent more than like $10 was… I dunno, 3 years ago? And 3 before that?

I’m pretty sure the employees of Activision Blizzard who developed the game and such has more then enough for their living wage and then some more. The fact this game still exists and still making money alone, as well the fact people will buy in microtransactions is enough for them to be well off, as well having enough money to go around. Unless your refering to Bobby Kotick who wants to take about 90% of the money earned from every game he has under the company’s name.
From strictly speaking as an individual who is both a consumer and worker (and so is everybody else to a degree), i understand that people have wages they need to make in order to live. But that isn’t something i should be concerned about when i’m buying products, because i’m simply buying the products out of my own desires. That part where i’ve paid for somebody’s income only happens indirectly from that transaction.
I’m no game dev or economics expert or whatever, but i’m probably going to wager it’s because of the graphics/advertising being the biggest culprits of this increase. As much i like pretty graphics, i’ve rather that money be put into the gameplay.
i’ve also stated many times on the forums that i am also poor but my main form of entertainment is wow. did you not get that i didn’t immediately replace my computer with a new one? it is where my discretionary income goes. when i have extra money i buy a mount or a pet. because i like to support blizzard because i spend a lot of free time in wow and enjoy it. i also started playing hearthstone and buy things in there too. it’s not a lot of money but i do what i can to support them. i don’t drink or do illegal things and i roll my own smokes so it’s like $40 a month for me to smoke all month instead of spending $8 a pack. like i said we all have different priorities.
Yes.
Yeah, I said it. Everyone can hate me now.
I’m sorry for your current situation, have you considered getting a job somewhere else? I don’t know what you do or where you live but if you’ve worked at your current job for a while your experience may be more valuable than your current job is paying.
I know times are tough though, not trying to make light of your situation.
he has no sympathy for people worse off than he is so he gets none from me either.
I mean GAMETIME is not the same has a subscription(which was not affected by the raise) …
Subscription is auto recurring once subscribed and needs to be canceled , with your credit card(not affected by any raise)
Game time is bought of gifted (affected by raise alongside wow tokens)
The job I’m at right now has really good benefits, and if I tough it out for another year or so it’ll pay off. I actually work at Costco, and short of a promotion (which, basically I’m already doing and am next in line ignoring seniority), the scale for top end rate would go a long way. It’s just getting there after some financial surprises this year that’ll be the rough part. I’m just bitter that I’m trying to save as much money as possible and others are shrugging off price hikes and acting like it’s not relevant.
I do appreciate that you’re in a better financial situation and are understanding, though. Time will tell.
Ok, 2 hours maybe 3 hours of your life per month.
I’m not disputing anyone’s opinion of whether or not $20/month is worth it. I’m just providing perspective.
There are 672 hours in a month. Halve that (coz we all gotta sleep) and you are left with 336 hours per month. 3 out of 336 hours (and that’s assuming you are making less than 10 bucks/hour) is what you would spend on the new sub fee.
Depends on how much they increase the costs of the game. If too much, more people than not will move on.
As it is now, they’re making money off the game in other ways so Idk what they intend to do but I personally won’t bother with it if it’s too expensive.
That’s me, though.
If you think any of it will be reinvested in the game or even company you are sadly mistaken.
that’s actually a really good job. with good benefits. you’re lucky to have it, especially during a pandemic. we can just stop being at each others throats if you want. we just value different things.
To be honest if they did I might have to cut ties at that point. It pains me to say but a $15 a month subscriptions in today’s market is a bit meh as it is. To see that increase I don’t feel the game would be worth it anymore.
Id rather pay a couple bucks more than see more P2W elements introduced into the game.
I know, it’s just I haven’t got the seniority yet. Virtually everyone I work with earns quite a bit more than I do. As I said, if I get promoted, I instantly get $10/hour more for… actually very little extra work.
This pandemic just sucks. I deal with people who deny the pandemic and anti-vaxxers daily.
With as much as they nickel and time us as is with cash shop garbage they better not. My understanding the other price increases were to bring them up to par with the U.S. Dollar?
then keep your nose to the grind stone and give them a reason to promote you! that’s how i was raised. do the most you can and be the one they can count on and you’ll receive good things back from it. always work extra hours and if you don’t have family obligations work holidays and let people who have families have those days off.
I think that a price increase at this point will not make me feel any better about the game right now.
Same, but that being said, given the amount of time I get to spend away from my crappy real life on this game, I’d pay $30 a month and not bat an eye.
I get, I dunno, at least 150 hours per month out of this game. At $15, I’m paying ten cents an hour for something I really enjoy. I’d gladly pay twenty cents an hour and still be completely satisfied.
Over $30 I’d reconsider my options. $40 and over, and I’d drop it like a hot potato. But, we all know both of those price points are ridiculous and would never happen as the first ever NA subscription price hike.
If it does increase, it’s likely to go up to twenty bucks instead of fifteen. Fair enough, and fine by me.
