US Price Increase Incoming

you will never once go through the shakes because you stopped playing wow. i have several actual addictions that have caused issues physically. i think of wow “addiction” the same way i do my sisters “soda” addiction when she tries to pretend it’s even on the same level as alcoholism or drug addiction. it’s mostly just admitting you have poor impulse control.

edit: i also have a few different mental illnesses that aren’t being treated right now so if you wanna talk to me about mental illness and how it can screw you, i’m all ears.

Why are you assuming I am paying out of addiction ??

:man_shrugging:

How much? $5? Don’t care. $15? I’ll be annoyed. It would have to be like a $30 increase before I started complaining lol

I truly wish I could be in your financial situation to care so little.

Their gonna have to provide hard proof on that.

Regardless how they want to twist it in their favor, if their raising it to $20 (for example), it’s still $20, and objectively speaking, it’s $5 more then $15. Regardless of what inflation says.

Pretty much the same feeling i had with certain video games trying to up it’s price to $70 for the base game, and trying to use the same excuses to justify them. Just feels like they done it out of greed and not for need, especially since their gonna keep on putting in mircotransactions and so on.

These increases have nothing to do with Blizzard. It is the new gaming taxes being implemented.

i have friends on disability that get like $800ish a month that are willing to spend what i would on wow because it’s their main form of entertainment. if you make less than that i’d be surprised. if you spend literally your entire day in wow you realize how much of a value it actually is.

cost of living goes up. it’s not different than a big mac costing twice what it used to now, vs then. you have to pay people a living wage plus benefits etc to design a game. it doesn’t get cheaper over time. so the cost of the game goes up.

I’m actually curious as to why they’re doing it for an international product. And why they’re doing it now and not in future. It also only applies to monthly game time, rather than a subscription.

It’s definitely not something I appreciate.

I have no idea how they pay for rent, utilities, and food on just $800/month then. $800 is less than my rent, let alone everything else. Perhaps it’s a cost of living difference and other assistance they may receive that I don’t.

people in specific states in the US pay taxes even on tokens because of their state. so they pay significantly more than you do already.

Then we’ll both be in the same boat, won’t we? As it’s a government issue.

low income housing often has utilities paid as well. i have a friend who uses go fund me every time her computer dies to get a new one because she can’t afford it otherwise. people always make do when as they can.

So because I don’t live in low income housing and don’t receive government assistance, I shouldn’t complain about increases in price, and not being able to afford things?

don’t get starbucks once a week and it’ll pay for your sub increase. way to completely miss my point though.

Starbucks is overrated.

I’m no rich man I just keep my bills much much less than my income and I manage to do that by having absolutely 0 aspirations in life  I don’t want my own house, I don’t want a new car, I don’t want to start a family, nothing, I want nothing. I will play wow and then I’ll die and my obituary will say “He didn’t have many friends but people say he was funny at times and loved world of warcraft”.

you can spend $200 in one night at the bar and get drunk and it be fine, and it last for a few hours and be gone forever. but spend $20 for wow is somehow going to break the bank. i was 20 something once and my priorities were weird then as well.

What a bold assumption that I actually eat out too much. I’ve been brewing my own coffee because it’s cheaper because I’m trying to pay off debts.

You seem to be discriminating against people less financially fortunate than you.

I don’t want a house either, but I had to get a newer (I bought a 2012 two years back) because the old clunkers I always drove just kept breaking down. Unfortunately I had some surprise maintenance a bit earlier this year, so that put a lot on my card that I’m not comfortable with.

I’ve been paying it off bit by bit, but that’s all I can do until I get more raises where I work. Or get promoted - which I’ve been busting my rear for ages to do and might not even get anyway.
