US Price Increase Incoming

That’s the thing, my coworkers and managers in other departments have no idea why I haven’t been promoted yet. I think it’s my manager is traditionally flaky and I’ll have to go over his head again. I had to to get a proper pay raise before.

:woman_shrugging:

I also haven’t taken a vacation in a few years, and had vacation time roll over. Which… pretty much all my coworkers can’t fathom not taking a vacation.

Yet here we are, Aus prices already went up.

they haven’t for 15 years I doubt they will

They very well might if they see that even through all the hate threads, people are still playing their expansion. They are testing their limits

yeah then go over his head. if you’re working as hard as you say you are then he doesn’t see the value he has in you. most bosses would love to have someone willing to do that level of stuff. if he’s weird about it yeah then go talk to who you need to.

Just bought a month today (in canada) and noticed the hike, not appreciating the extra fees to run wow for myself and my wife - fortunately SL has been more entertaining than BFA and even parts of legion but the constant slap of timegates in the face combined with the price hike may send me out the door for good this time.

except you’re neglecting that the difference between USD and Canadian dollars hasn’t changed over the past years, same as Australia/New Zealand, and a couple others, but these two countries saw a price increase in 2020.

For example 1 Canaian Dollar (CAD) was worth 0.77 US Dollar (USD) in December 2019, today it’s worth 0.78 USD

…And even going back 4 years in December 2016 it was 1 CAD = 0.78 USD… The Same

and as a bonus, going back to around wow’s release date back in 2004, 1 CAD = 0.78 usd. Exactly the same

So in otherwords, over 16 years of WoW’s existence, the exchange rate between 1 CAD and 1 USD has not changed, but Activision/Blizzard still raised the price for them, which leads me to believe that the US can be next.

I would gladly play $25 if it means the WoW Devs are consistently pumping out high caliber expansions and patch content on the level of TBC, Wrath, and Shadowlands.

Otherwise, don’t bother.

This is the biggest problem, IMO.

Blizzard is notorious for under-paying their staff and laying folks off while the CEO gets his big payoff.

If Blizzard could pay their talent competitively such that they could retain great game developers … maybe things would be different.

I could see it happening but i think that blizzard is more intersted in the conversion rate from people buying store stuff.

Honestly for me, it’s not really about the money. Today though, the concept seems akin to rubbing salt into the wound.

:grimacing:

What?

Okay, I guess. I played for about six hours today with no issues and none of this ever-present “WoW-rage” that people commonly have. I have no “wounds,” no gripes, no problems with this game.

I - get this - play it because I like it and it makes me feel good.

The concept of continuing an activity that feels like a “wound” - especially a recreational activity - just seems ridiculous to me.

They do it get more of our money so they can pay for all that “free” stuff they promised.

To be honest if they do then I’m not gonna continue paying and playing .

From what I’m seeing SL isn’t that great and I honestly can’t justify a price increase for this content.

Office politics xD.

I would rather them increasing the cosmetic stuff in the store then the base sub.

I think many of us are hoping that it gets better, because we would like to like playing this game, if that makes any sense.

I think you have no idea how exchange rates work or that the Canadian dollar is tied to the price of oil.

regardless of this, it’s been roughly the same exchange rate from CAD to USD over the past 16 years since wow’s release, at most only varying by ~20 cents at most from the average give or take.
