With how many people are unhappy with things like Torghast, a price increase would lose subs.
Thatās fine. They have slowly drained the fun right out of WoW anyway, so it is far easier to quit and stay quit for a long time. In BfA I resubbed for patches but I wonāt EVER do that again, lol. I will finish out my six months in SL and, if nothing big changes, I am outie. SO outie. See yāall AFTER the afterlife maybe, lol.
I would have no problem paying $25 a month for a great, fun, generous MMO. But not for what Ion makes. Nope.
Good news for FF 14 I guess?
I agree w/Spinster; if the price increases even a penny then Iām out. In general, this game isnāt what it used to be and I suspect the only reason I keep coming back to it is because itās become a habit over the many years Iāve been playing itā¦
The game development is still focused on āRaid or Dieā; donāt get me wrong, I want to have the time to Raid more, but being a working adult with responsibilities, the time simply isnāt there. And being forced under the thumb of immature / impatient / toxic players because they get their sense of self-worth from a video game doesnāt seem worth any price increase.
If the game became completely casual-supportive and got rid of the scaling differences between players as it exists today, I wouldnāt mind a price increase.
But absolutely not as it is now. Iād be effectively paying to be punished, and Iām not a masochist, lol
I think servers and devs cost money to pay for and maintain.
Probably. I pay 25% VAT on everything it seems.
25% here in Sweden.
I couldnāt imagine spending my time, energy, and money here if I didnāt think this game was fun enough for an extra few dollars a month. So those extra few dollars makes the game bearable just enough to spend so much time here? lol
They didnāt ban multiboxing and Iām still boxing 10 accounts.
I think this is assuredly true and I might be one of those who says ātoo muchā and moves on to another game. But you know thereās some bean counter in the ActiBlizz financial group saying āIf we loose less than 33% of subs when we jack the price to $20, then itās still a net gaināthe shareholders will love it!ā $20 today is what $14.99 was worth in Nov-2004 after adjusting for US inflation, so you just know they have to be considering this.
seeing how americans react to other regions being abused, itāll feel damn good when it happens
ill pull out my popcorn and savor the riot while linking the āfirst time?ā meme.
brilliant move from blizzard staging it all over time. that way you always got some unaffected whiteknights - until the final stage that is.
Iād consider this a maybe-valid point if I believed that Blizzard would do more with the money. I donāt think they will, though. I think theyād raise the cost of the game, and continue making content at the same pace they always have. Iād just be paying more for exactly what I was already getting.
Either way at some point Iād have to draw the line at how much is too much. Would it be worth it still if they upgraded it to $25/month next year? What about $30/month the year after? Iām already buying a new WoW expansion every ~3 months right now (base expansion, not the deluxes). If they raised it to $20 then Iām buying a new expansion every other month.
At some point you have to say āthis is too much.ā I think raising it to $20 would be too much for me to justify keeping an active subscription constantly. If youāre willing to pay it, thatās fine; not going to put you down for it. I also donāt go to the movie theaters (well no one does right now, I think) because the local one is $18/ticket and the concession is outrageous. Last time we went we got two tickets, a medium popcorn, and a large drink (for refills), total was $60 just to sit in a chair and watch a movie for 75 minutes.
the quality of the game wouldnt change. the devs salaries wouldnt rise.
kotick might get a new yacht every few years tho - dont even think about the things that happen on those yachts
Brazilian subs were also increased in October, Argentina had a similar treatment a year ago.
I can think of one thing we donāt have to worry about in 2021.
I would only be ok with a price increase if we get more content in exchange for a higher sub fee.
If we got 2 two more patches per expansion then I would pay $50 per month or if they overhaul crafting to make it like FFXIV
Iām sure they would be happy to weed out all of those type of subs. no wait.
This is the problem with people today. You guys are always willing to pay more for the same product or less so companies take advantage of it for extra free money. We wonāt get anything new for a higher sub fee I guarantee it.
I live in a country where our exchange rate in relation to the US dollar itās as stable as a drunken monkey riding a unicycle and we only got a price increase recently.
Obviously it has nothing to do with that.
Shadowlands is good. but it aint THAT good.
If they are going to charge Netflix prices maybe they need to release content at a Netflix pace first.
