No one pays to access the forums. The game subscription comes with forum access.
Not sure if they ever fixed it or not, but for a long time you didn’t even have to have an active sub to post.
I realize that some people have an account that holds a low level toon just for forum use, but I’d venture to bet that the number of people who pay whatever their sub (for me, $12.99 since I pay 6 mo at a time) solely so they can post here are few and far between.
Also, I got the impression that this person was saying they wouldn’t pay more than the standard retail price since their comment followed someone saying only “scalped” copies were available at a higher price than the retail set by Blizz.

well blizzard you should give all of us who did pre order shadowlands beta access I have always pre order collector edition and have spent lot of money in game shop items and I have been lot of money sub to blizzard for 15 years now and done lot of scroll of res and recruit a freinds but with the delay of shadowlands and no beta invite to shadowlands it makes me want get a refund and never purchase another collector edition again and makes me want cancel my sub to wow so how about a beta invite before i uninstall wow and get refund and go on my social media with my huge followers and tell them how bad you treat your loyal vet players
Not me please. I had a summer of beta access for Pandaria. Always regretted it. By the time it came out I couldn’t enjoy new discoveries with my friends. Just screwed myself out of a good time.

I’m only slightly annoyed right now. I don’t understand. On the Blizzard website in the shop it’s telling me that Shadowlands is still only preorder, but in the game its an upgrade, and its clearly partly live with the level cap squished (still not happy about that but I’ll get over it someday). So can’t someone explain to me what’s going on. I am very confused.
WOW expansions come in two parts.
Part one is the pre-patch. This has the UI changes, talent & skill changes, leveling changes, profession changes, etc. It’s the stuff that applies to everyone whether they buy the expansion or not. This is what just got released last week for Shadowlands.
Part two is the actual expansion, where the level cap is increased and the new zones are opened up for exploration. This is the stuff that you have to buy the expansion to get. It typically releases several weeks after the pre-patch, and is the part of Shadowlands that releases in late November.

Not to be too negative, but I bought into this with BfA. I don’t think I’ll make that same decision this go round.

Are you saying, if I want to upgrade to the collectors edition, I need to pay the full price, but if I meet specific time-based criteria, you’ll give me store-credit?
Why not just ask us to only pay the difference between what we’ve already paid and what the collector’s edition cost is?
Seriously, you’re going to give us Blizz store-credit? Did that idea come from some former Game-Stop executive?
I’m happy to pay for the difference to upgrade my version to Collector’s. But there is no way in heck I’m going to pay the full price AGAIN, with the promise I might be able to get store-credit at some point in the future if I jump through some hoops first.
For reference, the Epic Edition is $79.99, and the Collector’s edition is $119.99. For the extra $40 I get everything in the Epic version, and an art book, mouse pad, 4 collector’s pins, and the digital soundtrack. But, to be clear, nothing in-game over and above what I get with the Epic version. Also, in order to upgrade, I need to pay $120, at some point enter my code into some Blizz UI, and then I’ll probably get $40 worth of BlizzBucks to spend? What a deal!

I need help. I decided to hearth from Bastion to Orgimmar and when I went back to visit the flight master in Oribos, it won’t give me the flight path or option to get back to Bastion. I never did mess with the Flight Masters in Bastion, either, so I need a GM to help me out here. My toon that I was playing is the one I am using to post this right now.
