"Upgrading" Loot murders this game

Exactly how it worked for people who played when expansion hit. You got to 80, started on heroics then moved on to mythics when they released.
You can get your weekly champ by being carried by hero 6/6 to myth finished players, but you arent getting into m10s to get KSH or mythic raiding with all champ tier.
You can pay to skip by buying boosts but that’s it.

Why would I have to redo all my gear?

I have no interest in m+ or raiding at all now.

I’ll take the fully capped hero set.

I’m fine with that.

It was less awful when there were only 2 upgrade levels, but it’s really awful now.

Every season they replace the previous season’s item levels with a new set starting at explorer blues with the previous seasons hero stats.

Seasons are expansions in terms of gear resets.

If you use the previous seasons gear you basically are 100 levels behind.

Usually hero is replaced by vet, not adventurer

correct

but thats not until S2, just like it has been for years now.

My S1 gear won’t need to be replaced until S2 when I get S2 gear.

S1 mythic gear will not carry anyone to S3, or S4 if we get one, so it won’t matter either.

Same issue lol but this time they basically dont want you to have any chance to go from tier to tier directly unless you’re in full mythic to the next tier at veteran/champ (lfr, normal)

Incorrect btw.

Your s1 gear will be replaced throughout season1 at 1 or more pieces a week, assuming you want to do anything above the “easy” stuff.

So like the game has been played since at least wrath then

God forbid they actually want you to do content to get gear

Nope wrath and cata didnt have the whole seasonal thing. That started around 2015.
Even then it wasn’t really seasonal.

Prior to just nuking old content like modern wow, you had very similar stats throughout an expansion when it came to tiers. Maybe 10, 20 percent increase over the course of the first to last raid of an expansion not counting legendaries and very specific gear.

The way that I see it there should be less “crests” tiers and just heroic and mythic gear to “upgrade”.

The rest is just pointless garbage.

Wrath basically started the seasonal thing, vendors updating every tier, expecting you to replace your gear every raid tier instead of things carrying over (didn’t always work)

I get the feeling you are just starting off playing MMOs.

This is how the gearing cycle works in this genre.

By the time S2 rolls around I’ll have my fully capped hero set.

Which I’ll replace in S2.

During S2 I’ll earn a capped set of hero or better gear depending on what changes for delve rewards.

When S3 rolls around I’ll start replacing my S2 gear.

This is how gearing works in WoW and has for ever.

Also why I play the game, without a gear treadmill there would be no point

Feel like people who don’t like it would be better off in gw2 or eso

There was no slow as mollases step system though and that wasnt til ICC, and was scrapped after.

Each class had optimal combinations of tier sets back then too, with some literally using the same 2 pc bonus up til icc.

I do 8 10s. Cap my gilded. Then log out for the week.

Boring point of the season right now

There’s nothing slow about this system either

Because the game feels structured and is constantly trying to steer me towards diving into the endless grind for gear and progression. And other things like launchers, menus and notifications are trying to upsell me on junk I’m not interested in nor need.

It feels like I’m constantly fighting the game to get a few moments of enjoyment out of it, mostly because the game is being the annoying little salesman who refuses to leave you alone when all you want is the ability to be left to your own devices.

Not to mention all the times you want to revisit an old thing just to have fun, only to find out they’ve torn the whole thing down when you weren’t looking.

Which imo isn’t a good thing, gear is meant to be replaced when new gear comes out

You get 1 myth track a week max unless you buy boosts for first 4 myth raid bosses.
