I’m on my paladin, and every single slot is 649 or higher. I thought the cutoff was 645 to be able to upgrade carved crests to runed crests? Not sure I understand what’s going on here, am I wrong about the ilvl needed?

Thanks for the link, I was struggling to find something on google or wowhead that was explicit. Tried logging out and back in, I’ll try taking everything off and back on.
So I had a similar issue and it turned out to be an embarrassing move on my part. I had 650 something ilvl but couldn’t upgrade my crests.
It was pointed out to me I was wearing cloth bracers. Even though the ilvl was up to par the gear I was wearing wasn’t. As soon as I replaced the bracers with leather at 645 I got the achievement.

I just checked, tho, and it’s all plate. And every equipped item is either champion, hero, or crafted (or the goober ring). And all are at 649+. This is just odd.

I’d suggest rechecking a few times. I’m not saying you overlooked anything but I certainly did. Having the confidence I knew what I was doing I had to check multiple times after someone pointed it out in trade chat before I noticed it myself.
Again, I’m not saying you did any of that. Just saying if everything you’ve said is true then it’s a bug and you should report it or you’re wearing a piece of mail/leather/cloth somewhere. Or your Cycre’s Circlet isn’t fully upgraded.
Try logging in and out as ret since prot doesn’t use a 2h

Ok. After a tertiary search it looks like WoWHead is still saying 649 is the ilvl requirement for each slot.
Comments on the article say 645 but it doesn’t look like WH has updated the post so 649 might be the magic number
Whatever equates to 4/8 champ gear is the carved mark, sorry not at computer.

Hrm nothing stands out to be honest. I’d try the relog and otherwise raise a ticket.

- Appropriate gear level (649+)
- Appropriate gear type for each slot: yes
- No achievement (odd)
I think OP has met this requirement (645).
But yeah, I think the script is pretty cool. I wish i could provide more information to the root cause but I’m not sure.

People in the comments of wowhead are getting confused about that too.

Yeah, my DK has all 645 (which honestly should be enough) but my pal is all 649 plus.
What’s really odd, my monk has the ability to convert to runed, yet still has a 645 belt. And the hunter that’s my forum profile still has 3 pieces of 645 gear, yet can convert carved to runed. So strange.
Also just checked my DH, she can convert. 11 pieces at 645. So 645 should definitely be the cutoff. Might have to file a ticket, bleh.
Try changing spec on the paladin to ret. Also, your DK is wearing an int/agi trinket, that could be an issue.
I’m pretty sure it is Circe’s Circlet that is the problem. In my experience, it isn’t counted since it is last season’s gear or just a weirdo item.
I’ve gotten the achieve to go to Carved to Runed with the Circlet (and one other 658) ring.
The problem is that there are two achieves and people are confusing which crests go with 645.
The achieve to go Weathered to Carved requires 645 in every slot (8/8 Veteran or 4/8 Champion).
The achieve to go Carved to Runed requires 658 in every slot (8/8 Champion or 4/8 Hero).

For that toon, your bottom trinket (slot 14) looks like it doesn’t have strength, may be the culprit if you have met all the item level breakpoints (I haven’t looked at them in a while).
This isn’t accurate. I say this with confidence, as I’ve literally already mentioned multiple characters I have that are otherwise. Checking that trinket issue right now… And yes, I can’t believe i didn’t spot that on my DK, thanks! What’s crazy is the ilvl of the AGI trinket didn’t count towards my crest relief either, so had to spend 20 crests to pump up a STR one (no biggie). But just got the chieve on the DK.
Still doesn’t solve the issue with the pal tho lol.
