Updating Torghast this Week

Torghast was 100% a numbers check every elite mob and boss is a numbers check. That little stacking buff that eventually makes them immune to slows, and eventually makes them immune to stuns, and eventually makes them immunes to silences and cc’s. That’s your enrage timer, because every stack increases their damage output. So when they are built like damage sponges you either have the dps to down it or it downs you.

Ah, so this is his villain origin story! Or hero, I suppose, depending on where you stand.

No, not the DOT at stage five. The tooltips for the items against the assassins and abductors says “Immune”. Meaning, you shouldn’t be seeing them, or be affected by them at all. Seriously, go look at the tooltip. This is not the case in the game. it’s just a lie. They either need to fix this, or remove the items from the game, or change the tooltip to reflect what they actually do.

Still sucks .

It is much easier now. Did a 7 on a 167 MW alt. I tried an 8 on the other side. I thought I was going to do that too until I got a consular floor boss on floor 4. It does so much more damage than everything else, almost one shotting you on volley even before getting stacks. I didn’t have the anima powers to down it no matter what I did. If I had a few stacks of corrosive dosage I would have been able to do it, but I had none so I lost the RNG DPS check :frowning:

I had a nightmare of a time yesterday pre-nerf, and went back in today post-nerf on the same toon without any gear changes, and it was immensely better with the hotfixes in place. Hell, I didn’t even see a single anima power that wasn’t appropriate (I previously kept getting powers that were geared at healing in a group, but I have only ever done solo runs as dps spec)

i have this novel idea. how about before implementing any nerfs or buffs to characters, mobs or content, test them on the test server first so you don’t embarrass the living cat snot out of yourselves like you have been doing consistently over the last 16 yrs.

Thank you guys for listening.

Now can you guys PLEASE add some rewards outside of Soul Ash? Gold? Vendor trash worth something? Tokens to spend at a vendor? Anything really. Just give me a reason to go there if I don’t care about crafting a legendary.

Having haste in the negative double digits is NO fun as a caster class… that was one of the most appreciated changes they made imho

That is all that really needed to happen. Upon reaching 10 stacks you just had to accept death. I didn’t think they would neef torghast this hard though. I had a blast with how difficult floor 7 was, but floor 8 was just insanity.

Extremely disappointed to hear about this. You’ve taken something that was fun and required some focus and you’re turning it into another mindless chore. People have been crying about how “chorey” WoW has been. The one complaint that has been there year after year and you make the tower as one of your answers. IT IS A GOOD ANSWER. It’s challenging, refreshing, new, requires some focus and brain power. It has potential, it can be built upon expanded and rehashed. But soon, if not already, it’s just another mindless run that’s super easy and guess what, it no longer becomes rewarding, it becomes a chore. Stop catering to people who win their video games by crying to the devs for buffs in the next patch. Grow a pair of balls and tell them to get good.

You do realise it is only the DoT debuff those mobs apply right?

See below their respective debuffs

If you have a look at the tooltip it says you become immune to the debuffs specifically not immune to the actual effects of them appearing.

I like when Torghast can be a challenge, but I’m also not advocating for some psuedo-hardcore mode that just makes some specs feel awful for trying to attempt them solo.

My only worry is it might end up way too easy, at least for now. Nerfing enemy HP/DMG, skills or buffing anima chance/strength of choice aren’t bad on their own - it’s just the combination of all 3 that really takes the bite out of it for me.

In the end Blizzard can’t please everyone, and it’s not like later floors can’t be difficult. I’m just not looking to make it so easy that I can do it in my sleep, that’s all.

Isnt what we have now kinda like just the introductory to Torghast? You hop in, get your weekly currency and hop out. Anyone can do it and its not meant to be hard or a headache. Later down the line we get something like twisting corridors i think its called? Where the players who really want to challenge themselves can do so? Am i getting that right? If so…I dont know why anyone would be upset right now…

In some ways, it’s a matter of principle. To do harder content, you should have to invest in your character to an extent. If you don’t, then the investment means nothing and there’s no reason to work on yourself.

I have seen a lot of heroic-geared people upset about how hard it was, which should be content they’re just simply not ready for. I think both sides make solid points and an argument could be made for either side, but I genuinely ask - what’s wrong with having something that’s currently out of reach?

It’s not ‘forever’ out of your reach. It’s just temporary. If you’re not ready now, eventually you will be. That’s just natural progression in… well, anything really. Life. Games. Whatever.

It’s not a bad thing to be unable to complete content temporarily. It just makes the satisfaction of overcoming a short-lived hurdle that much more meaningful, IMO.

There’s more torg to come, don’t worry. The early stuff doesn’t have to be hard. Also it’s imbalanced right now between classes. So this would be the quickest fix for now.

Thank you Blizz!

All three runs tonight (7,8,8) were really a lot of fun to do. So many anima drops I didn’t mind when less useful ones dropped as i was rolling around with so many other fun ones, really made the run faster and a lot more more fun for me.

While I did have a sense of self satisfaction clearing last week, carefully splitting every group due to lack of survivability for my pet, i ended up spending 2 and a half hours clearing the last one. As a one off, that was fun in it’s own way, but every week, twice? I wasn’t looking foward to that.

So thank you for these changes, a lot more fun for something that’s going to need to be cleared every week.

also cleared 6 on both wings on my veng  this makes me happy
