Also something to consider, were the changes using information based off earlier runs of Torghast or those done this week?
A lot of anima powers were greatly improved with the last reset, some more than 3 times stronger than they initially were. Was this increased player power considered when taking into account the current difficulty of the content?
Yeah, I mean I think I’m getting a little heated by some of the responses in this thread and going a little ham in the arguing (had a long day). Like, before today, my main issues/requests for Torghast were only just removing the CC immunity and the anti-afk mechanics, maybe buff some anima powers for under performing classes.
It definitely didn’t need ALL the nerfs it got, but I was never really expecting regular Torghast to be a challenge anyways with Twisting Corridors coming, so I’m not worried about it being over nerfed. IDK.
If they nerf TC like this two weeks after it comes out, I’d be pretty peeved about that.
My words exactly. I found Torghast as a really fun solo thing I could do. It didn’t seem too easy or too hard IMO the previous week. All of a sudden I’m looking at these buffs to enemies and I thought it was typos. I’m like wait 70% more health ??? Then I get to a floor boss and it’s not only one or two shotting me but doing the same to my pet. Interrupted what I could and tried to LOS AND burnt all my lives right there. I was done.
There were some good changes made to be sure. It was too hard for squishy classes and the anti-CC thing was complete BS. Just removing that fixes most of the problems for something like a mage. If they can show skill by successfully kiting something for a while and never get touched, they should be able to do that. The blanket nerf was awful, though. I was already so bored by Torghast before this week and Tuesday was the first time I’d enjoyed it on my main. And now they ruined it.
rofl this is the definition of an over reaction, no one was pissed the bosses had a soft enrage, they were pissed they’d hit them a minute into the fight, still most likely never touching torghast until we get some kind of reward per floor system instead of the lump sum at the end, having it bug and a boss i almost killed endlessly re-enter combat with me when i release is a joke.
I didn’t really think it was that bad, but I guess I could see it being an issue for less solo-able specs with less healing/aoe. I don’t mind it being easier really, it’s fun to play around with the powers and not get punished as bad for picking something fun or weird instead of broken, I dont think it’s intended to be some super difficult mage tower challenge type thing.
Lol. I’ve had 2 soul ash missions and I’ve failed 2 soul ash missions. Miserably. I just shrugged it off to my followers needing to be stronger. I dunno.
The soul ash missions seem rough I’m not sure how you’re supposed to do them. They’re always like at least a level or two higher than my highest levels no matter how much I keep leveling.
I have yet to do any group runs, and if Goxul has been nerfed as described in the post, I won’t have to beat my head against the wall trying to kill him the next time I encounter him. I’ve also noticed that at some point over the last week, I stopped getting anima powers that were completely useless (what good are powers that are aimed at healing in a group run, when I’m running solo as a shadow priest??)
Yeah, I can see how for people who really wanted a super hard (to potentially impossible) solo content will be frustrated having to wait until TC when they thought they had it already. Or honestly, TC should have released with everything else.
The whole thing could have been communicated or planned better. They should have explained their goals for the tuning beforehand, or should have planned many of these sweeping nerfs to go live when TC came out.
Overall though, once TC comes out I’m ok with regular Torghast being nerfed into the ground. When I heard about the systems, my expectation was that Twisting would be the “Super Hard Git Gud” mode, and regular Torghast would be the “Diablo 3: blow up a whole room with crazy temporary powers” mode. I kind of really want both, but the people who just want the hard mode shouldn’t have to wait.
Awesome, thanks blizzard! This is starting to sound like what I hoped Torghast would be when you announced it, instead of the long, pull one target at a time, slog it was last week.
