Updating Torghast this Week

Are these changes live?

Yes they are.

Bravi, Blizz. Thank you for taking us seriously over this dumpster fire. Some anti-frustration (particularly nerfs to the final bosses, and making larger groups less punishing) is most welcome.

He omitted the part where there was a blanket 25% nerf for ALL groups. This does not incentivize group play and disincentivize soloers? Maybe read things before reacting emotionally once in a while. Thanks, have a great day!

What’s the point of buffing Torghast multiple times for being too easy, just to immediately nerf it? Now I’m AoEing entire rooms on level 8.

What’s the point of having multiple difficulty layers if you’re just going to keep nerfing the highest difficulties? Just get rid of the levels altogether. Let’s not pretend like we’re making content for multiple skill levels anymore.

Sure, do a tuning pass to correct some of the insane obstacles of Torghast. But to just entirely eviscerate it? Here’s hoping Twisting Corridors provides the challenges some of us enjoy.

How does a nerf to enemies when you forma group disincentivize solo play? Enemies have a buff when you enter with a group. Today’s change just made that buff smaller. Soloing a layer 8 today is perfectly doable, you don’t need a group to do it.

For as much as the playerbase dislikes expansion-wide borrowed power, we sure are okay with small-fry borrowed power like anima powers. These changes are fine–they address certain issues that needed fixing–but ultimately I’d just like to see anima powers done and gone from this instance. I don’t want more, or better options. I want them gone. Anima powers were a piss-poor attempt to “balance” content that never was balanced to begin with.

I don’t know how Blizzard has made amazing raid and dungeon instances for 15+ years that are fun and exciting, but they mess up the balancing on Torghast. These changes really just read to me like “whoops! Well, we done screwed up.” This is less about the players and more about Blizzard’s failed experiment to insert a “roguelike” into an MMO RPG.

At least now I can tolerate the idea of taking my alts through SL at some point. Torghast was just taking up too much time.

you do have to realise, that endless isnt out yet.

blizzard said that is keeping its difficulty, and it was hard in Beta with 190 ilvl, extremely so, it was tuned to at least heroic ILVL.

this is something i’d welcome. If i try and do content that I am not equiped for I expect to fail, but if I do content and get myself all the way to the end with no real challenge, handling the 50%boosted out of combat spans all the way then get stomped into the floor by a boss thats 50 ilvls overtuned for me. Thats not fun nor engaging.

Let me get my pet killed and my hp halved with all cd’s gone on the first trash pack if i am 50 ilvls under the content. I’ll learn its not for me and I will go do stuff to improve my power

Are you sure? I don’t see anything on the hotfix stuff.

Talk about overkill lol. May as well let my toddler do the run for me now since it’s not even going to be challenging

how much effort must i put into a mawrat harness for it to get me though a boss thats several degrees of difficulty harder than all trash leading up to it to such a point that i dont even make a dent, how can i get to a last boss of soemthing if im evidentaly SO ill equiped to be in that content? Obviously I was capable but the end boss tuning was broken, and a mawrat harness is garbage

Seek help.

I just got done running both wings on Layer 8. Unless I got significantly better since going to bed last night, the nerfs are in.

Plus I did see the change with elites dropping 3 options instead of 2 so that’s a pretty easy to notice change.

Pretty cool, thanks!

190 is the same as 435 in 8.3 of BFA.

Basically very weak.

But that’s literally the argument you were making, the harder content isn’t out yet so apparently it doesn’t count. We really can’t know what gear levels they were expecting for each layer because they didn’t tell us. We can only assume that since there is a higher difficulty with supposedly infinite scaling (akin to M+), the difficulties we have now would be for Fresh-Normal-Heroic geared players, with that later area being for mythic geared and up.

As for finishing Layer 8, I’m a 188 Prot pally, so even before these nerfs I did clear both 8’s because I won the spec lottery. Did I ever feel challenged during those runs? Not really. Did I ever feel like I outplayed the enemies or had to squeeze every inch out of my toolkit? No. Did I ever feel frustrated and annoyed because the enemies were glorified target dummies with zero mechanics? Hell yes.

Shame we can’t have anything actually challenging in the game anymore.

Participation rewards for everyone.

Let me ask you a question and the Devs have been getting this wrong. Why is it that difficult has to be higher Health Pools or more damage from creatures?

That just makes the run slow and tedious. Totally not looking for that in Torghast as most people view it as a chore that has to be done.

Why can’t difficult be fun mechanics or fast paced?

Sorry I just view higher HP and damage a generic lazy adjustment that ruins Torghast. Reducing their HP and Dmg was the correct adjustment. It could go further honestly.

Lol. Prot pally. Once again you are grasping at straws. Layer 8 is the highest difficulty of a singular Torghast wing. Twisting corridors is a separate mode entirely that doesn’t even have an ETA.
