Updates released via twitter/X/whatever

Anyone know the reason why devs and Aggrend decide to use non blizzard site to give us updates instead of the actual forums here?

Are they trying to up their own personal status or subs/likes or w/e?

Apparently honor vendor is back and I found out reading another thread cause they saw it on twitter.

Seems dumb not to be engaged with the community on the official website/forums.

Because any time they say anything at all here, they get dumped on with comments and questions about 500 different things.

It’s a lost cause and they know it.

Twitter gets more engagement per post than the forums ever will, facts hands down.

It is a better avenue for occasional updates and keeps the devs from having to wade through the garbage posted here and inane screaming. Lord knows if I worked for Blizz I would hate having to post here.

If you read through the comments on blue posts you will find out why real quick.

Last comment I noticed after bug fixes on release was asking the devs if they were incompetent or just lazy for not fixing other bugs lol

I don’t agree with so much information being shared on X (I both don’t like Twitter/X and I don’t think that people should have to go to a third-party social media platform to get WoW news) but regardless, here is the why:

https://x.com/AggrendWoW/status/1781042457226154328

From Aggrend, from the link:
"Gonna give you an honest reply. I personally prefer twitter because, in general, people are less hesitant to be complete jerks because they (usually) use their personal accounts. Forums are often actively unhelpful at best, and downright abusive and toxic at worst.

Not looking for people to suck up to me, but I am looking for people to be human beings and I get more of that and more actionable feedback here (and to a lesser degree, in discords).

That said, I/we DO read forums, it’s just for a discussion like this, I think this format is a bit better. Just my opinion though."

it’s because on X they can speak freely, away from the oppressive boot of the moderation.

Man, I remember the last time I said they probably don’t post here because of how angry and toxic people are here, and the responses I got were downright hostile. The vindication feels nice

Just lock the announcement thread from comments. couldn’t be simpler

“wow, thanks for showing you care so much about our feedback. Locking out comments, you scared?” type threads would increase exponentially.

The point of the comments is to provide feedback

Is there a specific twitter account posting these? Cause I was looking up different things, from just World of Warcraft, Classic, Cataclysm Classic, I don’t use twitter, so I’m probably doing something wrong.

Twitter has HORRID search functionality. You are best served going off peoples names and checking their bio.

The forums is the place to disseminate information about their games. They should be able to find at least one dev that’s not so ego driven they are capable of not engaging with the nonsense that is posted here. If the devs posted relevant information about their games more people would look here for that information.

I am a big fan of posting things on the launcher first and foremost. Website sure, they should, these forums though? no way and I don’t blame them.

They already do not engage on blue posts(usually), however a large portion of the player base does not access or use the forums. They go to WoWhead/Icyveins or twitter for news updates. The talking heads simply followed the masses to a better platform. No ego involved.

It’s a fair question. Releases have been a bug filled mess lately. Devs being Scared of us isn’t a good excuse for not communicating.

Man I wish they actually utilized the launcher for that… the only patch notes we’ll ever have is just the original post on 4/30. SUPER useful.

They could just release info and in a thread that can’t be replied to.

I understand why they don’t post and I would not either if I were them. No good deed goes unpunished on this forum.

I suspect it’s because the company doesn’t release relevant information here so all that is left is the nonsense. I openly admit that I am pretty vitriolic here but if I got a job in public relations I could easily post and discuss game issues without engaging with the fools.

and the devs could just ignore those - since their reason for not posting updates to their official forums is toxicity/laziness.

Honestly if that’s how they feel and they literally avoid the forums, then just delete them. Honest, id rather that than them not evening engaging with some of the serious issues the game has. Its just disrespecting the people who have taken the time to write something.

As if there isn’t totally trash people and replies on X and as if most people are using their real name lmao. He would have more chance of finding out who someone really is on here than X…
