Would it be possible for individual players to turn on updated character models in game? When updated character models were first introduced to retail you had the option to choose between both the old and new character models. Allowing such an option wouldn’t hurt any players need for nostalgia since it’s only effecting the players screen who has updated character models enabled. I don’t care if you thing the retail character models are trash I just think this would be a cool zero effort option for Blizzard.
That coming from a gnome… they literally had the worst “update” ._.
Eye of the beholder & all that, but you will find that many forum posters believe that their opinions on everything are final & how the game should be without exception or option.
Undead had the worst.
They absolutely gutted the way they walk and jump.
Would it even work though? I’ve no experience with programming so this is nothing but conjecture on my part but it seems as though if they enabled the retail character models into Classic, regardless of whether they were only viewable to you the player or to everyone, wouldn’t they have to update the graphics of the entire game to accomodate? It seems like they’d have to do the reverse of what they are doing with the incubus warlock pet model. If that is incorrect or simply not the best way of thinking of it, by all means someone let me know. I don’t mind learning something new every now and again.
No, Classic isn’t running on the original client. It’s a reskinned Legion client made to look like the old game but all the backend stuff is the same as retail. It would be very easy to implement this.
Gross.

So many things they can focus on, this is F tier prio. Don’t distract them.
Since the games running on the updated client this would just require them to add a checkbox. I think they could handle that without getting too distracted.
They could also make slowfall act like it used to act in the original… as of… you know… that you do not levitate on normal jumps, but they wont. It’s not like those things are any prio at all
Pserver have backported newer models to wotlk and call it “HD/WoD patch”. Ton of people prefer it over the old models cause it gives a modern look to the same good old experience. I would totally support this change if its optional, as pserver have done it with success and its only cosmetic from your own pov.
However, i think this would fit best as a change during a season of mastery for wotlk.
