Update to guild system and incentives?

Any word or breath from Blizz about a potential rework/update to the guild system?

I dont believe its seen much attention since it was implemented in…Cata? The interface is fine but the rewards seem very out of date (especially the gold values for group content). In a social game that revolves pretty heavily on encouraging group content I think this would be something that should be regularly improved on.

Unfortunately it’s just another one of the long list of things abandoned after a single expansion.

Guilds are for Hasty Hearth.

The guild UI is not fine, we need our control over settings back

Unfortunately there’s only so many incentives people will want that would make them want to join a guild. WoWs guilds are either feast or famine(alt guilds).

Neither appeal to those who aren’t in guilds at the moment.

I hate the guild panel, use a macro to bring up the old version of it.

That doesnt restore the individual settings for guild ranks though does it? As it is now you either give someone blanket officer abilities or none. We used to be able to control which specific abilities we were giving people, not just “ok I want you to be able to approve applications so here you go you’re an officer” and things like that

I am looking at the current guild panel, trying to even find how I would set up ranks in it.

using /guildroster on my GL, to bring up the old version, I can easily create ranks and the settings for them.

As for individual people (separate of the rank I give them) no.

You have to right click the guild name/icon in the left corner to access the guild settings then you can set up ranks through it. The current guild UI is garbage but thats how you access it

thank you. and no, can’t give individual people permissions. It brings up the same Rank Permissions panel as the old one does.

So, create a new rank.

I get that they wanted to update the guild interface and simplify some things but stripping away abilities from guild masters was a dumb choice

Um… I already have? Siobhan was helping me find the tab on the Guild UI that I hate so I could compare the 2. Like I said, I hate the Guild UI panel and prefer /guildroster. I was unfamiliar with where to even find Rank Permissions on that thing.

Creating a new rank doesnt make a difference, you either check the officer rank box on a rank or you dont, they removed the ability to set different abilities for the ranks

Guild halls should of been long ago among tons of other stuff blizz sure ain’t put no effort into helping guilds out. The little guild finder thing they got is amusing some mvp claimed they do remove inactive guilds in there after a certain amount of time no they don’t cause I know for sure a couple of the guilds that are in there has been 5 yrs since they played lol. Blizz just added more annoyance when they redid the guild ui.

I wish they would.

I guess you better trust your officers then.

In my guild I actually do, I choose them wisely but that doesnt negate the fact that removing controls from a guild leader is a stupid choice

The fact that “being in a guild” and “doing guild stuff” offer rewards that otherwise you wont get, or takes A LOT of effort is one of the worse plagues in WoW and other games.

It is like you are pressured to be in a guild, even if you dont like anyone there, dont want to do any activity there, but you are required to have guild perks and advantages you otherwise wont.

And it compounds with the actual inherent advantage of being in a guild just for being in that guild.

It is like someone offering advantages and discounts for their peers in a certain group inside another group, like nationals of a country in another. If I am not mistaken, this was even made a crime in most countries because of the detrimental nature of it. It has even a name that became synonimous with crime organizations after a while.

Bring back mass summons. It was sick.
