Update on Asmongold?

I am not a fan and I don’t watch streamers much unless it’s an informational video or maybe like a contest (guild survivor was one of the most entertaining things I’ve seen when it comes to wow), but my point was that if the OP was a fan and enjoyed the content they would
A) know he didn’t quit (I knew that and I don’t even watch) or
B) would have gone anywhere other than the forums to find out.

Which led to my point about it being a troll post. I’m not saying people should watch his content if they don’t want to.

most people play characters. Comedians on stage You Tube People Rock Stars etc.

So is Def Leppard (my all-time favorite band, btw). They’re still not all that relevant today.

It’s cool if you think it’s cool. See above.

Being obnoxious has become part of the internet culture. So much so that people idolize anyone who is “good” at it. It gives people a safe place to say things they likely wouldn’t say to others in the real world. There are plenty of examples in WoW. Hell, WoW took it a step further with the queue systems and the cross server garbage giving people an additional layer of anonymity. It’s a license to do and say what you please without consequence in most cases. So yeah, it breeds the fan base for someone obnoxious.

Why does everyone get so triggered by this guy? I hate how forums always get taken over by cry babies. Blizzard catering to you sooks is why the game is in the state it’s in.

Welcome back, Pharsalus. Glad to see you back around.

Because to my knowledge, he’s the only ‘well-known’ face that the game’s critics can rally behind.

T&E have a habit of downplaying the criticisms and being too optimistic.

Bellular is good, but has a bad habit of trying to hover around the middle at times.

Asmongold calls it like he sees it with very blunt language. It’s a breath of fresh air for a lot of people, and during a trying period of the game’s history, like now - it should be no wonder why he blew up recently.

People who blindly want to defend Blizzard for no real reason except “Daddy Blizzard knows best” don’t like this.

he isnt fully quit yet but he isn’t actively streaming WoW anymore, ik a lot of these forums guys hate him but thats actually really awful for the game because he is the number 1 WoW streamer and has basically been promoting the game for free for like 14 years. if he’s bored there is a serious issue

I don’t think Bellular or Taliesin & Evitel are obnoxious. They’re pretty popular. Bellular has good insights and criticisms and some good mechanic and lore analysis. Taliesin & Evitel are amazing charming and entertaining without being obnoxious. Being Obnoxious is easy mode.

Thank you Florence. I hope all is well with you and your significant other. I would upvote your post to let you know I responded, but apparently I have to ration my ‘likes’.

Most of the hate started when he would come to the forums, read a topic on stream, then he’d read replies and start bashing people after looking at their armory.

Example: topic is “I hate ToS” someone replies “I hate it too, this mechanic sucks so much blah blah” he’d read it, go to their armory, and say “Oh LFR hero, useless, they don’t know what they’re talking about”… then sometimes he would attack people for random stuff (trash talking snowfox over their post count). He literally started the fight just for the entertainment value of being a butt.

What’s the problem? If you didn’t even do the raid past LFR, you shouldn’t open your mouth about Heroic or Mythic. That’s a basic credibility test. I don’t tell 2k players how to PVP, because I haven’t pushed high ratings since Wrath.

I cannot stress enough how much they dumb mechanics down for LFR.

…one can only hope.

You people are far too worried about what other people think and do.

Thank You. Yeah, the whole limit on likes thing is just silly imo.

I would honestly love if he had more mature/serious vids and streams. He’s a really intelligent guy with a lot of good thoughts about the direction of the game, imo, and he’s got a history with the game I can relate to.

But oh well. Doesn’t seem like he’ll be going that direction any time soon (if ever).

First: he didn’t submit his feedback on the forums so that people could defend or argue against anything. He hid behind his stream.

Second: trash talking (unless the person is a true troll) isn’t okay no matter what your level of experience is. He could have critiqued said players without trash talking or simply aired his thoughts on the topic and left it at that, but essentially he had to resort to player bashing. No one likes a jerk who can’t form their own arguments without resorting to " Oh you’re a waste of space and your thoughts mean nothing simply because you are too lazy to do anything above -insert difficulty-" so essentially he’s getting the same hate anyone else would get tossed at them for that behavior.

For the record, I can critique the mechanic on MOTHER where you have to coordinate groups to move from room to room regardless of the difficulty as an example. Isn’t that mechanic even in LFR? I think I did it once but I can’t remember for sure.

^^This. All day long. Not just trash talking either. He is absolutely foul-mouthed and juvenile.

It’s not hiding if you do it openly in a public forum anyone can watch and talk about.

I disagree. If someone advocates for the removal of Master Looter, but has never done high-end raiding, they should be called out for it. If someone comments on the state of the game but hasn’t even managed to reach 340(+) ilvl, that should be called out. People who talk about things they aren’t qualified to talk about should be called out.

Sure, but you wouldn’t be qualified when it came to commenting on mythic mechanics and coordination.

It’s okay, you don’t need to defend Asmon so much, he’s a grown man, his cash and viewers speaks for himself.
