Can someone confirm or deny that such migrations have been ended in Classic Era?
Edit: It appears as though these free transfers are (unfortunately) still in place. Thanks for the replies. The info page for Classic Era FCMs has been updated, creating more questions than answers!
Subversion of both realms’ economies, incentivizing indefinite leeching instead of legitimate growth, this was all thoroughly discussed in the thread I posted in the OP.
If there hasn’t been a Blue post from the Devs, there likely isn’t anything available to be shared with you here. Just glancing through Wowhead, I didn’t see anything about it, but that was just with a cursory glance.
I’ve heard chatter that the Classic Era RP-PvP realm Deviate Delight recently had transfers restricted. Perhaps its a fabrication. I haven’t yet seen anything written in Blue about it but figured I’d try investigating CS if anything were visible to the more keyed-in audience.
It is very peculiar that only a few Classic Era realms are being given this treatment, especially since players on the other, smaller realms have been requesting such an intervention for literal years. . .
Consider how your abuse of FCMs has damaged legitimate play across the realms you exploited. This fix should have been implemented immediately across all of Classic Era with the debut of Realm Clusters.
It is encouraging to read that this (years-spanning!) in-game issue is finally getting looked at. Who knows, I may re-enter Azeroth if this fix’s application gets expanded.
What damage ? The server was totally dead for 2 years and bringing ressources to an overpopulated cluster was just doing good. If Blizzard didn’t want us to do that they could have fix it long before.
Besides, it’s difficult to see why it would have prevented you to enjoy the game.
You know, transfers were already part of wow, it was just the free part that was new. So rich people could do it a long time ago.
