The Alterac Valley of Olde achievement was supposed to grant the Ram/Wolf mount.
People reported that they completed this but no mount was rewarded:
Blizzard’s official announcement said it was tied to the achievement: archive[dot]ph/5xfQs (details on why this had to be archived)
“Players who participate in Korrak’s Revenge and complete the Alterac Valley of Olde achievement can earn two mounts: the Stormpike Battle Ram (Alliance) and the Frostwolf Snarler (Horde).”
When Blizzard got called out for this time-wasting bug (20 min queues per match, matches can last over 30 minutes easy) they then threw in a hacky hotfix with a new ‘bonus objective’ to complete.
This new ‘bonus objective’ did not take into account ANY previous progress - including progress gained from unrepeatable questlines. They then updated the announcement to say they ‘clarified’ the changes instead of the more proper ‘changed them completely’: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/23873404/updated-nov-10-celebrate-18-years-of-world-of-warcraft
“Players who participate in Korrak’s Revenge and complete the bonus objective to obtain 200 Timewarped Badges from the event can earn two mounts: the Stormpike Battle Ram (Alliance) and the Frostwolf Snarler (Horde).”
So here we have an event with <200ilvl gear and everything just as it was in years past but now Blizz is to have us believe they wanted to change this away from the achievement (which the Mount Journal even states its from) to a ‘bonus objective’ with literally the same exact goal as the achievement?
Why can’t blizz admit they made a mistake and wasted our time because they threw together this event with little forethought? Is this the kind of low-effort hacky things I should expect in Dragonflight?
