The reason Alliance lose AV is because they have two strategies:
Try to ride past without fighting
100% defense
It has nothing to do with map advantages or racials and everything to do with the fact that they just suck at this particular battleground and never do anything but those 2 things.
Do I really need to cite all of the posts by alliance who are reporting 10+ AFKers and leeches in each game? Seriously? That is what you are going with?
No, it’s a matter of getting everyone to cooperate on the goals.
For a long time, when we would go in and everyone would do their own thing, horde would lose. So we changed up and started communicating; for example, people watch to see where the main alliance force is heading and call it out so that we can go block them.
I have found that whatever strategy we come up with is only effective for a limited time; the alliance usually comes up with a counter strategy. We had quite the game this morning, pushing back on the alliance forces and never quite able to keep or hold anything. In the end, both teams were on their respective bosses at the same time, and alliance won that one.
The games where horde manages to hold the entire map are becoming rarer than they were two or three weeks ago.
Win or lose, it is a much better game when both sides are fighting for those objectives.
Also, look for the afkers and report them early. (I look for alliance afkers and kill them, but that’s a different issue.)
No pity for me. I kill every Horde LT every game then run amok capping towers and being a general pita hit-and-run solo pvp’r. I’m enjoying it. Honor isnt wonderful but I’m one of those odd folks that likes playing the underdog. The new meta will soon be to simul cap everything when horde have van at 10%.
If the horde cave is moved back, that puts us in a better position to defend our boss when our base is overrun with alliance. As it is, once alliance takes our two base GYs, we have an awfully long run back to base which gives alliance time to consolidate the hold on our base. On the other hand, the position of the alliance entrance cave is ideally situated for them to run out of the cave and jump down to retake the GY. The north supply cave is also better placed for alliance as compared to the south supply cave for horde.
I wouldn’t count on moving the horde entrance cave to even things up. The map favors alliance; the difference in winning and losing comes down to cooperation among the players, not map advantages.
First, it’s a lot harder when many of the Alliance players have very disparate goals. I’ve seen multiple games that could have been contested go straight to a turtle/farm/loss because several players were more interested in trying to kill Lieutenants for honor than they were with trying to capture a southern graveyard, for instance. And that’s before we start talking about the ones who just care about reputation.
And while the Alliance is doing better - we’re still talking about a tiny fraction of the games. I’d put it on par with the Horde win rate vs elite premades (and by that I mean the top-tier ones, that were BiS geared with consumeables, etc)… which is really rather pathetic, because at least those matches were only part of the greater whole, and you’d be likely to also get matches against lower tier premades (that were competitive) and against pugs (where you’d stomp them).
