Upcoming Adjustments to Retribution Paladins

It’s so funny Seeing paladin whining and crying. Best Tank in the game. Best healer in the game and now whines and cry to get buffed to be best DPS in the game. What a load of whining babies. AND blizzard listens to that ?What a shame.

I don’t have a major issue with Ret getting a buff, but the part that gets me going is then not adjusting the problems that other classes have. Shaman with Elemental Totem is a good example and I’m sure there are several others for other classes.

I have never seen anyone demanding to be the best dps in the game.

Also, every spec should be viable and not everyone likes to tank or heal. It’s actually wild anyone would make this argument.

And this is why no changes was such a brain dead idea. No company would release a new game with broken specs and let them rot.

for real, just sad.

This is not a new game. The Paladin class is fine. And even the Ret spec does well by the end of the expansion.

Even worse, they knew what was going to happen and you see what a failure it is.

Yes, every player knew what the Wrath class balance was and could make an informed decision going into the game.

Have people so quickly forgotten the Classic’s Teams own stance on class balance, where they even used Paladin as an example:

"We’ve seen this quote and others like it that we’ve made increasingly taken out of context and it’s important to highlight a few key words here. Namely; “class” balance is the key word in this statement, and this might be being conflated with “spec” balance.

Using Paladins as an example, we are hard pressed to think of a class that is more well-represented in Wrath Classic raiding across multiple specializations. Holy is one of the strongest healing specs in Wrath of the Lich King, and Protection Paladins have never been stronger tanks. While Ret is not at the top of the meters relative to other damage specs, they provide stellar raid utility across the course of the entire expansion with several key raid buffs, including Sanctified Retribution, the effect of which is only shared by Beast Mastery Hunters (another spec that is traditionally seen as a PvP spec and has lower representation in raids) and Arcane Mages (a spec that scales well early, but starts to taper off later into the expansion). Additionally, late last week we fixed a bug with Hammer of Wrath that was causing it to not scale properly from Melee attack power, which should be a fairly significant increase to Retribution damage, especially on longer fights with sizable execute phases.

In general, we feel that Paladins are in an exceptionally strong position as a class and see no reason for any major changes at this time. The scenario in which we would step in to make a direct buff to baseline class functionality is quite specific and that’s when a class as a whole is at a point where they are almost never taken in raids across a broad spectrum of skill and performance levels. Having one spec be stronger than another is not a problem if the class itself is well represented. Also, if bleeding-edge groups going for realm firsts, or engaging in speed runs or other highly competitive activities choose to eschew a certain spec to hyper-optimize their setup, that alone is not a sufficient reason to make direct and inauthentic changes to a spec’s core functionality or scaling. Those groups simply do not represent the majority of the raiding population in Wrath Classic and we should not be attempting to balance the game around them."

Only took two months of Pallies whining for Blizzard to completely abandon this design and change course. Yet an actual Wrath system like RDF remains out of the game…

Ironically RDF was not in at the launch of WotLK, but you know what was in at the launch? a balanced version of Ret. This take, which you and many others have is just so brain dead. In Vanilla, and in TBC there was not balance changes made in the last tier specifically to counteract a strong tier set bonus. Stop mindlessly pushing the thought process of “you knew bla bla bla”. This is a very different and one of a kind situation. You and the others that push this bad take know this is the fact as well, you just dont think it should be changed because it would somehow hurt you. Im not even sure why people care about a class being bumped to middle of the pack.

I think everyone is also done hearing about the utility of ret. Its the utility of paladin. Theres no reason any utility should justify the DPS gap we have. ITS NOT IN LINE WITH THE ORIGINAL WOTLK EXPERIENCE YOU PURSISTS ARE CLAIMING TO DEFEND.

Extremely poor and dangerous decision by Blizzard.

It not only encourages and caters the Crybaby culture, but it’s also unfair to some other classes.

Can you blame BM hunter or frost mages now flooding this forums asking for a buff ??

What has happened to you in just a few months? Your last response to this was just great…

This is a huge warning sign for me. You gotta understand cry babies never stop untill they take away everything good about this game and turn it into a dull and soulless game like retail wow. Cry babies won’t stop with this. Now they are gonna ask harder for RDF. Next will be transmog. Next will be achievement and mount sharing. Next will be gold coin. And next will be the absolute end to classic wow.

This might come as a shock to you but rets dont heal or tank, nor are there generally spots in their raid for them to do so out of the blue.

Braindead post

So much for no changes! Feels like a bad private server ran by Blizzard devs without any GMs, filled with DK bots, no RDF and you have to pay monthly fee for 0 customer support.

Corrected.

The WoW Classic team is so good at its job it even remains stuck in the hilariously wrong 2008 logic that being a crap DPS is acceptable because “you have utility” as if that gets you a raid slot. Blizzard figured out this isn’t how reality works 15 years ago.

They said they would make sure nothing crazy was happening like a drop off in Ret being taken due to its damage.

Looks like the drop off was happening.

I am sorry numbers cannot persuade you.

I find it weird that someone can be presented with numbers, showing there is a clear problem, and then people being upset when rational people see the problem and try to remedy it.

I dont pvp, so maybe there is a reason you all are so upset that ret gets anything but your hatred over someone being able to perform ever so slightly better in a video game is a huge warning sign for me.

truth is players do want classic+ but they want good buffs, and not the nonsense that Blizz does.
