Imagine if Chi Burst became Hold-To-Cast and became stronger the longer you charged it.

God even imagine if they made Crackling Jade Lightning an ability that actually did baseline damage, and if they brought back a buffed Spinning Fireblossom.

This is exactly the issue.
WW is a lot like War, Rogue and DH. They all have some unique utility and some tricks they can do but for the most part all four of these DPS cannot and will not be picked if they are bottom tier dps.
BTW being a melee by default is nearly always an L for everything except kicks. Kicks are the one area melee actually shine over ranged.
Monk is just terrible overall, terrible representation in m+ overall, let alone high keys, worst dps class in the raid, only ahead fire mage and aug so that makes ww the third worst spec in raid currently and 0 tuning announced, good thing blizz wanted to do frequent tuning amirite
blizz only cares about subs. WW monk has probably the lowest population among dps, a class has to be at the bottom of the dps charts for there to be another at the top. WW is the chosen sacrifice so that shamies, dks, boomies, rets etc⌠can feel good.
My 622 bm hunter beats my 631 WW in dps and i get more pug invites just for having lust.
I really wish they would bring back zen mediation as a raid wide skill for monk again. Be nice to protect the raid from big aoe dmg, and it would be an unique utility for us.

And your opinion behind an alt doesnât matter to me or mostly anyone here. You somehow are denying that if we had a bres or lust that it wonât increase our invite percentage. Thats just plain stupid.
How many times do you invite a mage even though you know they have probably been carried because they have lust. The same goes for hunter. Or Aug? We all know most Augs at the mid range keys (10s in your world) are awful. But they fill a lust spot.
I could argue the same for bres. Each comp should have a bres. Its nice for prot pally and bear because they shouldnât die so you donât risk the death of a DPS bres. But rets and dks are very tanky so they are an easy invite, regardless of their DPS.

It would be really interesting if all monks got access to Life Cocoon in the same vein of thought that all Paladins have access to a passive Blessing of Sacrifice.
Renewing Mist should also be on the class tree instead of Soothing Mist.
Honestly, after leveling my horde monk they need to make the set bonus from df s1 a talent. I think that would go a long way in helping our dmg

The spec simply lacks the damage others bring, primarily our AOE. SCK still canceling itself is laughable after allegedly having been âfixedâ lol. For some reason weâve gone through several tunings and this spec has hardly been addressed. Itâs playable, but the way below average AOE makes WW a very hard sell so thereâs no reason to invite one in your group over others.
There is not one singular issue with Monks, and specifically WW that cause them to be unpopular to both play and invite into content.
Some problems stem from issues as tricky to tackle as theme / style, some are to do with how the content currently is formulated, lending to less monk-centric features and then of course there is the actual mechanics, game play and scaling. We could write essays on all the issues but for the sake of not making people eyes bleed Iâve outlined what I believe to be the primary tuning, mechanical and game play issues.
Problems:
- Low damage due to spec mechanics, tuning and poor scaling
- Does not offer anything unique and valuable to a group beyond mystic touch (which is meh)
- Suffers from mechanical class / spec issues
Some Ideas for how to fix Low Damage + Scaling issues:
- Remove channels from our kit and have the abilities work in the background while we continue to perform other abilities, even reducing ability damage during the window to compensate, if required. I think this would play way more into feeling like a monk and would even open up room for a talent that allows the abilities cast during FoF or SCK to combo and modify effects.
- Implement more scaling talents ie:
- Critical strikes cause the next attack that consumes 2 or more chi to have its damage increased by 20% of total mastery, stacking 3 times. (30% mastery base would add 18% extra at max stacks)
OR - After 3 consecutive combo strikes, haste contributes double to your melee attack speed for 6 seconds and every 20 melee attacks reduce the GCD and cast/activation equal to your critical strike chance on your next RSK, SCK, FoF, WDP, SotWL.
- Critical strikes cause the next attack that consumes 2 or more chi to have its damage increased by 20% of total mastery, stacking 3 times. (30% mastery base would add 18% extra at max stacks)
Some Ideas for how to fix the Unique Value Issue:
- WW Monks should be more known for walking that wind, maybe integrate a stronger group / raid speed bonus from the windwalker aura (20%) and when activated clears and immunes snares/roots for 6 seconds and doubles the bonus move speed. Unique and useful.
- Bring the other Monk auras back and give the same treatment as the above, with a strong passive and a unique activate, ie
- healing aura (+4% healing) activate cleanses either 1 poison, 1 magic, 1 disease or 1 curse on each party member.
- avoidance aura (+4% avoidance) activate provides a bubble for 8% of max hp to all party members.
Some Ideas for how to fix mechanical issues:
- I am still a proponent for the removal of AI damage on Monk, in this case the removal and replacement of SEF and Xuen with Serenity/TEB and some kind of Xuen Metamorphosis. The AI is much better these days but inevitably will continue to cause issues in the future, which for something that is uninteresting and not interactive seems silly.
- My earlier suggestion to remove channels from our abilities (FoF + SCK) and to instead have them work concurrently with the rest of our rotation without interruption could also could fix the mechanical issue of channel cancelling.
Just my thought explosion however I do think these ideas would go some of the way to help the class. Alas, I donât expect to see changes like the above happen, but its nice to dream.
You know, the sad thing is, it wouldnt even take that much effort to fix WW and have it functionally work the exact same as it does now. Itâs literally revert a bunch of dumb changes, revert a bunch of nerfs, audit the talent trees.
i mean legion its where game went downhill in balance (pvp way before) but in pve balance was not that Bad every class had one spec (dps) decent
SCK and Fist of Fury is a Huge issue right now. wasting a SCK Proc or a 10stack FoF is really bad. i guess its to hard fixing a Important Bug over counting money mad from the brautosaur

Iâve always said we should have become the Avatar of xuen and a lightning aura comes around us. Keep the same function, but itâs us instead.

SEF doesnât need to be removed, just needs to return to itâs original design.
