Idk as a returning player myself i appreciated at least seeing the legion zone only took me maybe a half an hour a day to grind out rep for void elf and lightforged.
I think it would be better if we could just do the quest lines so we get all the story and be done, instead of going back every day for 2+ weeks.
Maybe 8.1 will get us closer to that at least depending on if they upped the main quest rep too.

I know that they will not read this or care probably. I played wow since vanilla and stopped because of work mid way in Legion playing every day. I saw a chance to come back in BFA, thought I would get a clean start with the allied race. Now I see that you have to do over 250 world quest in old content to unlock them. Just wanting to let you know that I might have bought BFA but you will not get my monthly money until they are unlock. Until then another MMO will get my money. This is just a message for Blizzard, not looking for any replies from the form trolls.
Looks like Blizzard is still getting your money too since you are posting. Also, Blizzard said from the start you need to unlock them. You do realize you don't need to just do World Quests (which take like 5 mins especially if you are 120 in a 110 zone) as you can get tons of rep from your mission table. They also said the rep rewards will increase as well to help unlock them faster.
The mission table trick only really works if you maxed your Order Hall and followers so you can 200% everything.
Also, you can play WoW without buying BfA.
One more reason Blizzard needs to stop adding races.
There's no reason not to add more races. I think from here on out it will be clear cut because they will release in the expansion they go with (I hope). The first 4 are a confused mess since they used them to get pre-orders for BfA.

The difference is the Netherdrakes weren't announced as a feature of Wrath of the Lich King.
What difference does that make?
I don't dislike the concept of allied races. I dislike the flawed design of leaving the current expansion to go unlock them when they are a selling point of BfA. DarkIron dwarves? Zandalar trolls? Kul'Tiran humans? I completely agree with you on those. There's nothing wrong with asking people to do a rep grind for them. There won't even be anything wrong with asking people to do a rep grind when these continents are outdated content. My only problem is with the ones on Broken Isles. That's it.
Rep grinding the current expansion is fine because you need to do those world quests anyways for azerite, war resources, faction mounts, gear, war campaign, neck levels, etc. . so you are not going out of your way to grind strictly REP.
Grinding rep in a previous expansion is total BS because youve already done that content for two years and you get nothing except REP.

The Legion allied races aren't a part of BFA content. They're a part of Legion content that was released almost a year ago. The BFA races are a feature of BFA.
This is absolutely not true. The people who pre-purchased BFA were allowed to access the allied races. Everyone else had to wait until BFA activities launched. They are tied directly to BFA. I had access to all of the Legion ones from playing through the expac. I did the grind for them. And, for the Legion races, I would have no issue with them being opened up with less of a grind requirement.

In 8.1, you’ll get Legion rep twice as fast. It’s not the instant gratification you’re looking for but it’s something.
They should add the option to unlock them with war resources. So can earn them with current content.
Locking a new character in a MMO Should probably be the last thing a dev should do.
A retention mechanic that requires people to grind out and gate player time over weeks is a prime for burnout.
It is worse if they do not even get any progress otherwise on a useless character.
I would say its throwing away players, to keep the players occupied with something they have to do.
In the current state of the community and the game, It was just not a very smart thing to do.

1) Grinding has been a core part of wow since its inception. Don't act like this is something new.
2) You get close to revered just by following the questline in the zone, which you can bang out in less than an hour. From there, you got multiple avenues to explore, ranging from doing the rep tokens from your Order Hall to doing the WQs to just doing emissaries.
3) It takes like a week dude of going back and doing it. You get a dalaran hearth man, its not like its an out of the way thing or something.

It's still so funny to me that people complain about this... If you want to play an allied race then unlock it... You want to play nightborne elf? Then get exalted with the nightfallen. It makes more than enough sense. How can you expect the nightborne to ally with the horde if you haven't helped them one bit in Suromar? Whether or not you care about the RP aspects of the game, it is a ROLE PLAYING GAME after all.
So you've been playing since Vanilla with the "default" races but want to unsub now, a couple months into BFA just because you need to do stuff that most people did last year to unlock some races that affects pretty much nothing on your gameplay?
I don't know what to say to you besides just unsub bro...

The characters are not cannon to the story, The nightborne join the horde ether way. But Very rare should one character effect another.
In a lot of cases, After you do bring this new race in. The character must have been executed, its not a good RP aspect of the game. Its a lazy way to support a bad system.
MY solution to this problem that would make (Almost) everyone happy. Give players allied races, just like they give us normal races. However, players that unlocked these races by doing the rep grind'required quest chains are now rewarded with said races Heritage armor. Players that leveled these races to 110 to unlock the heritage armor now get a new special transmog heritage weapon reward and OR a recolor of the same heritage.
I could see everyone being happy with a solution like this one.

Perhaps... But it makes more than enough sense to me to earn reputation with a faction of people for those people to then join your ranks of the horde or alliance. Plus, isn't it a good thing to have content outside of just Kul Tiras and Zandalar? It may not be level 120 content but you still get rewarded for it. Should I have every transmog and mount from past raids automatically unlocked for me because it's old content?

Its fine for the story, But if that character is just a throw away it adds nothing to the game. Transmog and mounts are character progress. and can be done on the character at anytime.
A new character is new, they are already joining the horde or alliance. Another character is irrelevant and should be irrelevant to that new progress.
They can do the story why they join, And then the new characters can start there own story. They will not meet the character that did the "Work" Since that character does not exist to them outside of your own personal story.
Blizzard sucks at keeping the world outside of the new content relevant, They struggle to keep new content relevant. So people should not support something like this for that.
8.1 is doubling rep rewards for allied races.
also, unless you are planning on rolling all of the allied races at once, you dont need to do them all at the same time. you can pick one and do that one first
Seems to me a lot of people are not even trying to see this through a new player's eyes. The new races aren't just for people who want an alt to mess around with.
Imagine you just got the game and the only race you want to play is one of the allied races. You now have to throw away your free boost on a character you don't want or care about, and if the race you want to unlock is tied to BFA rep, you have to level that throwaway character to 120, THEN waste weeks of your subscription time doing WQs and missions JUST TO START PLAYING YOUR REAL CHARACTER.

SO what? This crap rep grind shouldnt even be remotely related to allied races. Its just lazy and stupid game design... ALlied races shouldnt be locked at all. Its never been done until recently. How many more lost subs does blizzard have to endure until the devs get to be wrong/

Same can be said about death knight and demon hunter unlocking. Yet I don't see new players complaining about that. Either way they have to burn that boost to access these two classes. And to me classes trump races for sheer game play value.

Both of those start around where you unlock them, Its not great. But it is a much better system to the current Race unlocking.
To the point i would say they are not as similar they at first may seem.
