So gear matters more than skill then? If that weren’t true, I could absolutely out play my opponents to 2k at 197.

Thanks. By the way I just made a mage for the future when blizzard allows alts to play.
This is an MMO, gear matters, period, not more or less than something else.
If you wont want to have to get gear then go play a different game.
If you want to be realistic ill say it again.
Here’s the steps
Farm 200 ilvl - push 1400
Aquire 207 ilvl - push 1600
Aquire 213 ilvl - push 1800
Aquire 220 ilvl - push 2100
Aquire 226 ilvl - push 2100+
It really is that simple.

I dont understand this. Is it because you see 220 players in lower brackets that you want pvp power back?
That’s where the issue everyone is “complaining” about lies though. You can’t push 1600, 1800, or whatever with your lower gear unless you’re getting carried because the brackets are flooded with 220+ gear. That’s the OPs entire point.

PvP gear allowed you to get pvp geared for a season and spend more time competing rather than gearing. Otherwise as soon as new content comes out the PvE gear will be higher ilvl and a better option for PvP.
That makes PvPers have to spend more time gearing and raiding. The gear vendor + pvp power/resil is a lot of work upfront each season but then its nothing but fun.
Plus if your like me and only log in when you can, you miss the weeklys and stuff before reset. Before I was able to gear up while being dumped on because i knew once i was done i was done. I could log out for 2 weeks and back in and be caught up. Not the case with the current gear system.
The current system works best for catch up to the grind. I like the old system where it was a huge grind initially then pure fun until next season.
Thats my entire point though, you absolutely can push into higher brackets with the gear available if you improve your game play.
209 and I pushed into 1600 so now I’m grinding for 213 and I guarantee ill be able to push into 1800 after that.
There is a system and it works.

High CC classes that have high mobility have more wiggle room like rogue and mage. But gear is still very important regardless.

I’m still confused why you need pvp power still, sorry. It sounds like you want an up front gearing path solely with pvp. And once youre done gearing through the vendor we have, you just pvp until the season is over. Dont we have this?
I really dont understand what the pvp power has to do with your gearing progression in pvp. Is it because its locked behind rating and you cant advance because of mythic raiders in the 1400 bracket?
