Wow, incredible, now I have FIRE BLAST as a frost mage, how awesome.
Now I can just never use it ever because it’s a DPS loss and there’s zero situation where I would need it since a non-proc lance just hits harder anyway
Supporters of unpruning, please explain why you think it was a good idea? Because it wasn’t. Waste of resources giving spells back that literally NOBODY uses.
How many times did you use Eyes of the Beast recently? How many times did you Fire Blast as not a Fire Mage recently? How many times did you use Primal Strike to do 200dmg?
What a joke. Now we have ability bloat for no reason.
People will say “just pick out the spells that are useful,” not realizing they’re completely missing the point. Having a solid set of class-wide and spec-specific abilities, then a well designed shortlist of special talents to choose from, is (was) a good system.
The other day I ran into a world chest that needed to be hit by Frost magic to be open. I was able to open it thanks to building into good ol’ Mind Spike.
I’m pretty sure if you ran into one that required Fire magic, you’d be glad to have that Fire Blast on hand.
Whats the downside of having these abilities? For those who care they get class fantasy, for those who dont, theres literally no impact.
Keep em, nothing wrong with it.
Not to troll, but I love and use it frequently for the funsies. I am not saying that I have it on an easily reachable keybind, but I LOVE it.
I feel that some of the rework has missed the mark, but I am loving the variation of build. I have several different situational builds just for resto druid. Sanguine? Grab Typhoon! Babysitting a freshie tank? Invest in emergency bear talents!
Not everything has to be bound in an easy to reach place. It is okay to put fluff on clickable sidebars or dig it out of the spell book for special occasions.
Yes, you did, and it was awesome in Torghast as arcane. One of the arcane buff was such that casting a spell of one school gave a 30% buff to the other two schools. Stack those, fireblast a mob, then blow everything up.
Before Thousand Needles got flooded, I used to host pet races at the racetrack there. We used eyes of the beast and if you hadn’t taught your pet dash then you were going to lose. It was great. Now, recently, not as much as I used to, but sometimes I’ll EotB to check into caves and things that I can’t use eagle eye. It’s also useful when I want to prowl (with a pet who can prowl) and move through areas with a ton of mobs. Sure it doesn’t have the most range, but it’s still useful. Heck, I use it more than I use flare or hunter’s mark.
As for fire blast; I use it because it’s instant cast and it usually crits more than ice lance for me shrug.
There are abilities that people think are useless that someone, somewhere has a very specific utility use for.
Dear OP,
I agree with you 100%. I was just thinking about this tonight when I was raiding. I had so many spells that I can’t figure out if I should use. It has made things much more complicated than they need to be, and worse, in order to get to spells I do need, I have to take garbage. I really hate this talent system.
You have access to a spell, but it is not a talent sink, and it is not a part of your rotation. It seems like something not particularly worth worrying about. The frost DPS rotation on icyveins is about the most pruned thing I’ve ever seen. I think I could train the sparrows who eat at my feeder to do this rotation.
