Unpopular take; BFA WQ's were tolerable

I’d love to see the WQ system kind of evolve into something new and not what they did in SL but in BFA, I kind of liked doing them even on alts. Whether it was being in Boralus and the scenery ~ the quick WQ’s that gave that little dopamine hit of azerite.

Yes yes I didn’t like the whole AP concept but it was nice to see visually and chipping away at something that helped my alt. [my gripes with the ap system is a whole other thread of it’s own]

I have had zero interest in SL’s world quests which is kind of a shame.

inb4 people say “SL WQ’s are the way they are because people didn’t like BFA WQ’s”

In my opinion since they were introduced, the quality of WQ’s has slightly decreased each expansion. I liked them in Legion, they were alright in BFA, they are pretty awful in SL.

I guess it is what it is.

Hahaha ain’t that the truth :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I also remember reading or something of Ion saying something similar though but with regards to not feeling forced to doing the whole map and that they were trying to contain travel time or something like that to a few places closer to each other.

I do agree with your opinion though; it’s decreased and they haven’t really done any big iterations to them that feels new and fun.

Hence why I deemed BFA wq’s as ‘‘tolerable’’. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I can’t be bothered to go back and dig it up, but I remember when they announced World Quests, the language they used to describe them made it seem like they were trying to make it a “living breathing world” similar to how GW2 had a “living breathing world” or something to that effect. This was back before Legion, and I believe it was some time after GW2 released.

I don’t know if anyone feels that WQ’s accomplished that, but I sure don’t. I don’t mind when a zone offers both WQ’s and daily quests, which honestly are pretty similar. But I wish they weren’t so very obviously minimal effort in design.

I unapologetically skipped every wq in a cave or that took longer than a minute.

I miss the mini-game ones that the Kirin Tor and Tortollans gave. They were quick and offered a reprieve from an endless day of “kill 12 echidnas or whatever”. I think it was a miss to not have a similar faction giving similar WQs in Shadowlands, until the chest ones this patch anyways.

Those boring Oribos NPC’s or the brokers could have been that fun side faction for quests like those. It would have given those Oribos dudes a real “purpose” in my opinion.

I agree with your other thread on Azerite but this is a no from me chief. It’s all because of the tortollans….

I have an strained relationship with turtles that no amount of seagulls and crabs can fix.

But… a turtle made it to the water!

:rage::-1: I dislike your comment good sir.
It’s sad that my brain automatically read that in Nola’s voice too

And like MAGNI and all the WOoons champion

I know. I don’t mind the Tortollans, the non-WQ’s, the story quests, involving them made me chuckle. But I do feel instant rage any time Magni is mentioned.

I think they need the World Quests to be a little more organic and not so repetitive in design. Like if day 1 your collecting bear bottoms, day 2 should involve the same person doing continuity “Now that I have bear bottoms, I need you to hunt down some oatmeal.” and then maybe by day 3-6 “We have all the tools we need. Now we can lure one of the monsters out. Go. Destroy Goldilox the Devourer.”

Having the same quests in the same area repeatedly works when it’s a case of training like Bastion, but it’d be nice if there was a mix up in what the NPC says on a given day. WoW does not need total voice acting for world quests. A lack of it actually works well for vignette moments like Thassarian and Koltira’s chat in Oribos, and it’d work well here.

I agree completely. A lot of people liked Legion and BfA world quests and continued to subscribe to do them. Those people have less to do now.

I already collect bear bottoms in real life. I don’t want to collect any more bear bottoms in real life!

bfa WQ were very fun imo. as were legions. at some point blizz decided to hate fun and thus shadowlands WQ were born. i did WQ every single day during the last two expansions. not so much anymore.

I didn’t see any pre legion announcements but definitely didn’t achieve that if that is what they were going after.

Cheesing the kirin tor ones was awesome :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yup still had SOME nice ones and still want them as a playable race goddammit!

hahaha no worries. I disliked that segull crab stuff too. And the retracing shapes were hit and miss on how precise they wanted it. But it originally has to do with the azerite and reward system mostly is what I was alluding to and just pace of the world quests. SL has none of that, not to mention I liked the alliance bfa zone scenery better.

You gotta admit, putting the Koopa in place with a well thrown shell was worth it though.

And Goldilox the Devourer drops a Goldilox roast, which you need to grind up to make into sausage by stuffing them into the bear bottoms, right?

the turtle WQ were some of the most fun and they had good rewards too so i’d take out my entire army of alts and do them. XD

The wrong lessons were learned from earlier iterations of WQ.

They didn’t like that simple WQs could offer major rewards, so rather than change the rewards, they changed the quests.

Like… I’m not even grinding ZM on my main right now. I CBF with these quests after this many iterations. Least of all, the power level changes PER CHARACTER and isn’t account wide DESPITE PRETTY MUCH EVERYBODY saying most progress should be account wide.

The sooner they make progression account wide, the sooner people will actually want to play alts.
