They wanted to be able to create fewer world quests that would take longer to do. It’s entirely a matter of saving money on development.
They don’t want people to play alts. The progression of design since the start of Legion is to make it more difficult and more costly for players to maintain multiple specs and characters.
I still can’t believe some players actually cried over the WQ that had you kill a single boss. Those things were great and made doing full clears of a zone tolerable.
Yea the quests that are multiple steps should’ve rewarded more. But they shouldn’t have removed the simple fast ones.
There’s this world quest in bastion where you have to collect horns and they aren’t a guaranteed drop and it takes a while to collect them. And then you have to return them to the quest giver. At this point you’d expect the quest to be over with but now they want you to pilot and fly into a bunch of rings.
Correct! Which finally allows you to create a new recipe, the ‘Golden Bear Links’. You can then either sell the food, use it, or take it to an Dwarf NPC in Thelsamar to restock his supplies. If Horde you take it to Sen’jin Village where it is used as a projectile weapon against the still invading Naga.
The Naga realize the Trolls are trolling them by throwing hot salted meat at them, and go back to Nazjatar. Queen Azshara learns of this situation and comes immediately to sample the Trolls goods. This leads to peace between the Naga and Darkspear, and eventually unlocks the Allied Race: Naga, for the Horde.
Oh right, they don’t care after I count as a MAU. It doesn’t matter how many characters I have/ want to play to them because I’m one MAU.
Don’t be fooled, there’s no “we want you to experience the content of ZM and that’s why we’re locking the ability to create tier eight weeks into the new patch” choice being made here.
If you want tier pieces, without raiding, you have to be willing to count as AT LEAST THREE MAU to them. And MAU is king to them right now instead of actual player satisfaction.
Completely agree and thought that’d be what I was thinking their WQ 2.0 was gonna be or whatever they coined it as.
Yeah, same, my alts, whether I did progress on them or not, I still even outta boredom dusted them off to progress a little. In Legion it was that plus a nice [yes ppl hated it] chance to get a legendary.
Absolutely agree.
I don’t have a main unfortunately but I did notice how much less people are in the zone. Even quicker than korthia lol… it took me a while on my highest gear alt to go through the ZM intro. And the things there are not that interesting FOR ME to bother on alts even though I like to craft → make gold.
I kept going back to 'em and thinking ‘‘stupid me, those don’t work here’’
And gave a nice chunk of that reward I will not name
Which felt nice. Cause if you ain’t gonna iterate a lot on the WQ system, make it convenient, faster to do and rewarding.
Can we at least agree that ZM WQs are mostly fun (except the one in the desert that requires you to loot 12 items from mobs)?
The frog mount WQ is a blast
The “kill spiders and make a goop to summon a creature that turns you into godmode” WQ is fun
The puzzles are fun
Saving the cubs is freakin cute
Well there are only like 2 for me so can’t say I liked 'em much.
The Frog thing was ok but annoying the second time.
The puzzle stuff is mostly straight forward except the feugal or w.e it is one that I do but still don’t see the fun in that one.
SL didn’t really raise the bar so 9.2 WQs are maybe a slight improvement in some respects.
I think they saw the “problem” as the fact that people were choosing to do world quests rather than turn hardcore and do mythic raiding. They figured if they made the quests less appealing, the natural result would be a big boost to raiding.
i have tried raiding at least once an expansion for years. it’s not as fun as being out in the world doing fun things, to me. it’s stressful and a lot of pressure. and i don’t need that poo when i’m trying to relax and play a game. mythic+ is even worse with it’s timer. i’m okay with not having great gear as long as i have good enough gear to do the fun stuff i actually wanna do. they will never turn me, career WQ casual, into a T1 raider. lol
BfA was when they started making things take longer. Got rid of WQ group finder and made the WQs more tedious to complete. They should have kept them like in Legion.
They definitely are trying to.
Personally I have a few ‘me’ issues regarding discord/voice since I’ve never really done that, a nd I don’t like the idea of scheduling nights to play lol
Also finding a guild that is a good fit for me has been iffy.
So it is what it is but I do agree with your assertion.
