Unpopular Opinions for stuff in the media

  1. South Park is not funny. Sorry for offend y’all.
  2. James Rolfe’s style of humor is dull and repetitive.
  3. Rock Music is lame and thank God it’s dying.
  4. Monty Python is not funny. It’s repetitive, cringy, and unoriginal.
  5. Most famous comedians (Carlin, Louis CK, etc) are overrated and their jokes haven’t aged well.
  6. Zoos and Aquariums are good places. They provide scientific research and saved a lot of species from extinction.
  7. Documentaries are not reliable. Far too many of them (especially vegan ones) misinform and brainwash people into exaggerated lies.
  8. All the major rock music bands (i.e. Beatles, Pink Floyd, AD/DC) are overrated and their songs sound grating.
  9. Michael Jordan is not the best basketball player in history. He is only considered the goat because he was sponsored by McDonald’s.
  10. Family Guy is pretty funny. It never lost its novelty.
  11. Doug Walker has always made me laugh.
  12. Mel Brooks is much better than Monty Python.
  13. Diablo 3 is one of the greatest games ever made. It was the last good game made by Blizzard.
  14. Starcraft 2 is also one of the best games ever made.
  15. World of Warcraft is better than the RTS games, it made Warcraft a household name.
  16. The Lion King is boring.
  17. CGI is much better than practical effects. It is leagues better than hand-drawn and claymation type of animation.
  18. Game of Thrones has more in-depth worldbuilding than Lord of the Rings. Martin knows more about Human nature than Tolkien could ever hope.

What are yours?

  1. South Park is not funny. Sorry for offend y’all.

Totally agree with this one.

  1. James Rolfe’s style of humor is dull and repetitive.

Never heard of him.

  1. Rock Music is lame and thank God it’s dying.

No genra is without it’s good and bad implementations, some rock is lame but all in all it is a better musical form than much that gets air time these days.

  1. Monty Python is not funny. It’s repetitive, cringy, and unoriginal.

You’re allowed to be wrong, I’m guessing you aren’t commenting on viewing the show in the 60s.

  1. Most famous comedians (Carlin, Louise CK, etc) are overrated and their jokes haven’t aged well.

I’m sure you could do better, do you have an example of what you think is a good comedian, or do you simply not have a sense of humor?

  1. Zoos and Aquariums are good places. They provide scientific research and saved a lot of species from extinction.

Agree

  1. Documentaries are not reliable. Far too many of them (especially vegan ones) misinform and brainwash people into exaggerated lies.

Documentaries can be good or can be BS, like any and all supposed non-fiction.

  1. All the major rock music bands (i.e. Beatles, Pink Floyd, AD/DC) are overrated and their songs sound grating.

Now you’re just posting tripe. By the way, what music do you like (pleas don’t say country).

  1. Michael Jordan is not the best basketball player in history. He is only considered the goat because he was sponsored by McDonald’s.

I don’t follow sports, have no opinion.

  1. Family Guy is pretty funny. It never lost its novelty.

Watched most of an episode once, was unimpressed.

  1. Doug Walker has always made me laugh.

Never heard of him.

  1. Mel Brooks is much better than Monty Python.

Mel Brooks is a genius, but not sure why you lump him in with a tv sketch show. They were never the same genre.

  1. Diablo 3 is one of the greatest games ever made. It was the last good game made by Blizzard.

Games are strictly a matter of personal opinion, yours is no more right or wrong than someone who thinks Angry Birds or Minecraft is the best game ever made. And nobody cares.

  1. Starcraft 2 is also one of the best games ever made.

Always enjoyed that game, but see 13 above.

  1. World of Warcraft is better than the RTS games, it made Warcraft a household name.

See 13 and 14 above.

  1. The Lion King is boring.

Never seen it, my kids were too old for it when it came out.

  1. CGI is much better than practical effects. It is leagues better than hand-drawn and claymation type of animation.

All can be good when done right, but CGI is easier to do well (although it is still sometimes done badly).

  1. Game of Thrones has more in-depth worldbuilding than Lord of the Rings. Martin knows more about Human nature than Tolkien could ever hope.

I assume you are talking about movies, but you reference the authors so I’ll have to disagree. I’ve never “seen” Game of Thrones but enjoyed reading the books it was based on, but as for “in-depth worldbuilding” Martin has so far not matched Tolken.

I don’t find it funny, either. The only episode I like is the World of Warcraft one. Otherwise, IDC for South Park.

IDK who that is and no, I’m not going to look it up.

Rock is such a huge genre, and it really depends on which Rock musicians you’re talking about.

I’ve only seen it once. The only thing I remember about it is “what is your quest?” LOL

Depends on their segments. I don’t like ALL of the material.

Depends on the zoos and aquariums.

I watch sea and space documentaries. I don’t watch social documentaries 'cause they’re too subjective.

Again, I only like a handful of their content. Just like with everything else.

I don’t invest in sports. I only knew about him because of Space Jam lol

Never watched it, so I can’t judge.

Dunno who that is and don’t care to look it up.

I guess I am just uncultured :woman_shrugging:

I thought it was OK.

I like watching the lore videos. I don’t enjoy the gameplay.

I like WoW, hence why we’re here, right? LOL

I do like other games outside of the Blizzard bubble, too.

I do like the second Lion King over the first.

I’m content with any. I’m not picky :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I don’t like either :woman_shrugging:

I think Star Wars is overrated. I still like it, but it’s a little overrated.

EDIT: If you’re an OG Charmed and not Reboot fan, these unpopular opinions of mine will make sense, to you.

  • Paige Era > Prue Era
  • S1- S4 are overrated
  • S2E2 “Morality Bites” is the most overrated Charmed episode, and I’m sick of it.
  • S7 is underrated.

All I got so far.

I never liked the movies Gladiator, Braveheart and Signs. I think they are trash.
I think most Tom Cruise movies are trash.
Family Guy, Friends and all “competition” shows (Masked Singer, American Idol, Survivor, etc.) are trash.
Jazz music is trash.
The Beatles are overrated.
Nirvana and Green Day is trash.
I don’t understand why Marilyn Monroe is so pined for. I don’t think she was a good actress and I’m not impressed with actors/musicians strung out on drugs. I think she was also overrated.
I think everyone should avoid the major social media companies.
I think Jennifer Lawrence is a bad actress.
I think Marvel movies got really boring along time ago and Black Panther was not a good movie.
Shows about real situations (Forensic Files, Obsession, Deadly Women, etc.) are better than fake “drama” shows (like Law & Order, NCIS, etc.)

Yeah, I disagree with a lot there, but you have right to feel that way

Let’s see, I’mma add some more unpopular opinions of mine (this time about Batman):

  • I like and enjoy the Batman & Robin movie. It’s like people forget the Adam West Batman series was just as corny :woman_shrugging:
  • Val Kilmer is an underrated Batman.
  • The Dark Knight trilogy is overrated, and I hate Christian Bale’s Batman.
  • Jack Nicholson is a terrible Joker.

All I got, regarding that topic.

Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker isn’t good acting at all. I find him too cartoony and over the top.

I think Heath Ledger’s Joker is better than Nicholson’s.

Caesar Romero’s Joker is way more cartoony and over the top than Ledger’s, but I still like it.

I knew that before you told me.

I was just being nice and cordial. No need to get snippy with me about it -_-

I wasn’t being snippy, I just don’t know how to respond to people that say “that’s your opinion” or some form of that statement.

I don’t understand the point of telling people that.

Yes, you were.

It doesn’t require a response. You could just say “thank you”, since I respected your opinion enough to even state you have the right to say it or nothing at all, if you really have nothing to say.

It’s a cordial statement meant to respectfully disagree without resorting to name-calling nor condescending tones. There was no reason for you to respond the way you did. I didn’t say it to argue nor for you to be rude about it.

I respect your opinion despite disagreeing with it.

No I was being blunt.

I don’t need someone to tell me that something I say is my opinion. I stated it so obviously it’s my opinion.

For what?

But you don’t give me the right to say it and I know I have the right to say it.

This thread was about unpopular opinions. I was participating.

I don’t think it’s cordial at all, I think it’s passive aggressive.

So you were saying that instead of name calling?

There was also no reason for you to tell me what I already know either. I didn’t respond to your likes/dislikes with “that’s your opinion.”

I don’t see what was rude about my statement. You made a point to reply to my list and say “you have the right to your opinion.” I see nothing wrong with telling you I already knew that.

I’m done. You clearly just want to argue for the sake of arguing. Blocking you, now.

Sounds good to me.

I’ll bet they knew you knew that before you told them; but you probably knew that.

Going back to topic at hand: This time about Disney.

  • Hercules is underrated.
  • Moana is overrated.
  • Disney World > Disneyland, but Disneyland > Magic Kingdom.
  • I think people should pay, to skip the lines, at the parks. I’m not angry at Genie+ nor Lightning Lanes.
  • Megara & Esmeralda need to be Disney Princesses.
  • I consider Tarzan the last of “classic” Disney. Every now and then Disney pops out something interesting like Tangled.

All I got so far.

So, opinions not everyone might agree with?

Star Wars, the first three movies were good (currently renamed episodes IV, V, & VI) the I, II, & III prequels sucked as did VII, VIII, and especially the trash called “Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker”. Rouge One was good though. Firefly/Serenity > any Star Trek or any Star Wars made after 1983.

Disney parks, never been to one, never had a desire to go to one. Might have when I had kids at home, but it was way out of the budget.

Dr. Who, Tom Baker rules, but some of the newer ones were good. Some underwhelming writing though.

Some modern (can it still be called modern when the style is going on 100?) poetry is good prose, but most of it isn’t actually poetry, if it doesn’t have rhyme or rhythm, it’s prose, if you have to be “educated” to appreciate it, it’s trash. Real poetry never died however, it just changed its name to “rap”.

There has never been a “reality” tv show that was worth watching.

I say your opinions are pretty agreeable. Most don’t like the Star Wars prequels nor Disney Star Wars.

Unpopular opinion would be somebody actually liking the Prequels and/or Disney Star Wars, like myself

When it comes to Star Wars prequels, I really only enjoyed Phantom Menace. I remember playing the pod racing game that came out because of it. And, I like silly Jar Jar :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I did like Last Jedi. That’s what sold me on Reylo, but I like Rogue One better. I don’t hate Solo. And, I like Clone Wars the show.

Any movie, TV show, or game with sex scenes (or even love interests) are usually better off without them. Unless the point of the movie, show, or game is sex or love, of course, in which case I probably won’t watch it.

The Rolling Stones song “Gimme Shelter” has a near mathematical quality that has only been matched by one jazz pianist. Or maybe Bach.

While I still love the original Star Wars trilogy, I realize now that it’s actually pretty sub-par in a lot of ways. Will still gladly watch them regardless.

Of the modern Doctors, the only two I don’t like are Eccleston and Whittaker. Neither seem very Doctor-y to me. Like, at all. No idea why people like Eccleston, to be honest.

On that note, I believe Olivia Coleman would have been a fantastic Doctor.

The Sunday morning kids’ cartoons on Nickelodean in the 90s (Ren & Stimpy, Rocco’s Modern Life, etc.) were never, ever, meant for kids. Same goes for South Park, The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. No idea what producers or parents were thinking.

Everything Disney is evil. It is the hidden rot that pervades our entire society (unlike social media, which is the all-too-visible rot that pervades our entire society).

Never watched “Game of Thrones,” but the books weren’t great. They were so not-great, in fact, that I have zero interest in watching the show.

On Star Trek, while I think “Deep Space Nine” is the most well-crafted series overall, I still have a lot more fun watching the original series.

On that note, “re-mastering” an old show or movie really just means ripping the heart out of it. Let me have my technicolor low-detail planets, dammit!

I don’t know about the Simpsons or Family Guy but South Park was never pushed to kids. It first aired on Comedy Central and that’s not a kid’s channel. So the producers were thinking they were marketing to adults.
