Unpopular Opinion: Racial Class choices should be far more limited than they are

Agreed,
But it cant be changed anymore :frowning:

Illidan is not in Azeroth at the moment and he doesn’t believe in training non-elves. Read the book Illidan from Willianm King, which is considered canon. He only agreed to train Blood Elves because they’re descended from Night Elves and capable of withstanding Fel infusement in a way other races are not.

You uh

didn’t think about that one very long, did you?

This is probably the most logical race/class combination they expanded to. Tauren are literally made of hide, which is something rogues do very well.

But he doesn’t control the Demon Hunters he creates. Elves live for thousands of years, so the likely hood of other Demon Hunters creating other Demon Hunters out of necessity makes complete sense.

Apparently they have since Hunters have been able to “stealth” since they gave them ability to (Camo) back in Cata or whatever and you never noticed. That ability was never restricted to short races.

Also, you do realize that worgen, NB, Zandalari and night elves have been rogues since they were introduced and those races are 7 to 8 feet tall?

Night Elves have only on rare few occasions interacted on friendly terms with Trolls in friendly manners, not until the Cenarion Circle was opened to all practicioners of the Druidic arts and the Trolls that practiced their own form of Druidism were allowed in, in Cataclysm.

Case and point, we have seen plenty of Night Elf Shamans in Dragonflight, in the Primalists army.

It isn’t realistic because you don’t want it to be, Alliance and Horde have teemed up almost as many times as they have fought over the years, all classes can be found on either side of the world, why wouldn’t Wildhammer dwarves feel like teaching Shamanism for a willing and eager Human? Why wouldn’t Stormwindians invite their Gilnean allies, afflicted or not, to join the Church of the Holy Light as Paladins?

Have you ever stopped to considered that if something feels bad for you, but not for others then it’s not an universal, shared opinion?

Yeah, problem is, they already did, in fact, the Light doesn’t give a single scrap of **** of how or who you fight, if you believe your cause to be righteous and you have the willpower to maintain your faith in your cause, god or whatever have you, through thick and thin, then it’s all that matters.
It’s why they recruited Lothraxxion in the first place. A Lightforged warlock is someone that believes in the Light, believes in the Army of the Light’s mission, but prefers to fight fire with fire, if they feel pain while using Fel, then it’s a price they deem worth paying, just like Forsaken priests that wield the Light, like Alonsus Faol and that one Death Knight that found his way to the Light again.

So to keep it short, you are creating these class restrictions in your mind, where there are none.

I’d rather have every race be every class and let racial abilities mean something. If you don’t do that, then every racial will get nerfed eventually so nothing is really very good.

No it does not.
Demon Hunters are extremely loyal, the only one who ever absconded, Altruis, refused to train anyone who asked.

This just goes to show people on your side of the argument don’t know the lore and don’t respect it. It’s all cosmetic for you people.

Certain classes make sense to be open for literally every race. Limiting hunters was stupid.

The core should be: warriors, rogues, hunters, and mages. Every race should be able to be those.

From there you can make lore-based decisions. Like: night elves should not be warlocks. Can a night elf be a warlock? Yes. But in so doing they would be ostracized from society and hunted by wardens. Same with demon hunters. That was Illidan’s entire story, being rejected by his people for trying to save them by embracing demonic energies.

Death knights, though, every race should be able to be a death knight. Mainly because you don’t have a choice. You touch the shiny sword with runes and you don’t have a soul anymore. Doesn’t matter if you’re a gnome or a tauren.

Honestly, there should just be an alignment system that locks you out of certain content while making other content available to you, depending on your class and quest decisions. The aforementioned night elf warlocks could still exist, but they would never be able to return to night elven regions without being attacked on sight. But maybe that gives them access to warlock only quest hubs. It would be an enormous undertaking, for sure, to make your decisions and classes actually matter in the game, but it might make it feel better from a world building perspective.

they should be, but once they opened pandora’s box they need to just fully commit to everything thing being playable as anything and not this half hearted thing.

This isn’t an argument. He’s not dead and he can come back. My point is if they wanted to make more DHs, they can bring him back and have him train new races.

That wouldn’t “bend” the lore.

What do you mean? There are tons of Demon Hunters that join the Burning Legion. Lol.

No you’re not.

They should. That would be cool.

I feel I must point out that Night Elves, Trolls, and Chain Lightning are not real. There’s nothing stopping your statement - Night Elf being Shamans - from being true beyond the author’s discretion. These things are purely driven by creative decisions, ones that you don’t really seem to disagree with beyond “things should be more exclusive.” In-universe justifications are exactly that - contained within a universe that isn’t real and thus mutable.

Lore and Race fantasy has been dead since BFA.

That’s wrong, many races should NOT be able to become Mages.
Orcs for example only were able to become Warlocks by converting their Shamans into Warlocks via drinking demons blood, they did not possess the magical know-how to practice Arcane because it requires intense dedication, schooling, and arithmetic even, so that you don’t become corrupted or hurt people, something the Orcs under Gul’Dan didn’t care about.

And even the modern Orcs would not have the ability to easily become mages, their culture doesn’t exactly push higher education and hardcore scholastic learning.

all i got from this was “orcs can’t read!”
