You haven’t argued how it’s not ruined, you should start there instead, because I already explained my side in my otiginal post.
Let’s hear your explanation
I’m not one of them, I agree with you.
If you make a positive claim, it is your job to back it up, not the receiving party.
No you just said:
You didn’t say how. My only rebuttal is “no they don’t.”
I already did, if you don’t have a good argument just admit it
Nowhere in lore does it actually state that any race can’t be any class, might be somewhat flimsy for certain race/class combinations but realistically there’s nowhere that states you can’t be say a Tauren and a Demon Hunter.
Exactly, what about an Orc that is scrawny and smart, or a bulky, aggressive goblin?
One of the biggest named orcs fits that: Gul’dan.
I think I’ve gone from one side to the other.
I used to be a ‘I like race restrictions they add flavour’ but they have actually added a lot of cool lore to a lot of the new racial decisions.
Are you a Man’ari Draenei? Be prepared to be treated differently at your Tishamaat. While I still wouldn’t accept them as say a Lightforged the fact that there are quests about it, eases my take on it.
The other part is how much it affects me. I’m not gonna lose sleep over someone else having a class/race combo I personally don’t like. Power to them
I think what would help is adding aesthetic options for spells for some races. Like you can keep the default spell look but maybe there’s a racial quest line or something where you can get the “blue/silvery” light for your Night Elf priest instead of the yellow/gold…etc - Just to deepen your characters connection somewhat. I feel like Deathknights for most races makes sense since those are just raised dead but i was def surprised when NE warlocks were added.
This makes my eye twitch.
Yes there is, because all Demon Hunters learned from Illidan, who only trained night elves for 10,000 years.
Then when he teamed up with the Blood Elves in Outland he trained some Blood Elves.
Tauren were not part of that expedition, they could never become Demon Hunters.
D: gives eye drops n cookies
Agree. Really takes away from the fantasy of some classes to see a 9’ tall rogue (Bro, you’re not sneaking by me–I see you and your dumptruck).
But this doesn’t mean Illidan can’t come back to Azeroth and train different races.
That’s called “evolving the lore” not bending it.
I haven’t read a quest or cared about the story since 2012.
No thanks.
as society continues to allow anyone to identify as whatever they chose irl, then we should be allowed to create anything for rp in a game!
The problem is that people assume these classes are set in stone and that the original races ‘created’ the classes to begin with, which is wrong.
So no, I’m not for limiting racial class choices because they make no sense to begin with.
Show me where in lore it says that a Tauren could never be a Demon Hunter because it’s not stated which means the possibility is always there, would it be to a much lesser extent than say Blood Elves or Night Elves of course but still not impossible.
