People had no choice.
Human spirit is bis racial
Sure was like this. Hillsbrad especially
it was like this in 2019 wow, except it lasted 1 month and the servers weren’t balanced
this time around they warned you specifically with a brand new disclaimer, do not roll on this realm if you do not like being pvp’d, do not roll here if you can’t handle unfair pvp situations, some of you did it anyway, in the disclaimer they even gave an example
Most alliance players have chosen to play humans, mostly human warriors, i can’t think of a class/race combo that is a free kill more than this combo
ZF entrance has been a blood bath. I couldn’t ask for easier honor
What exactly are the benefits of PVP servers? (I played PVP servers from 2005 to 2019 and still can’t answer that) Switching to PVE was the best decision ever.
PvP is the real game you are two factions at war with each other, why shouldn’t you be able to attack and kill your enemies you see out in the world?
that being said, if you’re “too old for this” then yes, PvE is a good option.
How many times do people need to be told “PVP servers are this way” before people understand…
PVP SERVERS ARE THIS WAY.
Original servers had a maximum of 3500-5000 concurrent players. The servers we have now do 10k people per layer. Megaservers are quite different from what we had back then.
This part I doubt.
Also PVP server was selected knowingly.
Extremely different. A server listed Low now would have been listed High or even Full in Vanilla.
And even the numbers you threw out…I have a hard time believing happened in Vanilla. Server populations were way lower. But that doesn’t mean the servers were empty. Quite the contrary. It’s just that Megaservers are at an insane scale.
3500-5000 is the cap that an OG dev said the original servers had. If more people tried to connect, they would be hit with a login queue. Not every server would hit the limit.
This was a hard limit due to the hardware available at the time. I had the unfortunate reality of the login queue daily because my friends that got me into the game were already established on a full realm.
We’re so chill over on Dreamscythe, we have organised PvP in Hillsbrad right now. It’s been a lot of fun.
No forced PvP is the way.
That’s the way it is
That was my point.
They were mega servers if you consider the hardware
I see what you mean.
But that wasn’t really just a hardware limitation. It was more by design.
I remember John Staats saying in his WoW book that Allen Adham in earlier development wanted more like 500 concurrent players. They wanted real server communities.
But the game was way more popular than anticipated. So until they could spin up more servers, we had queues. Still…comparing 5k players to 60k players is silly anyway.
It’s like comparing a hard drive from back then to now.
NO NO! Didn’t you hear the noob? It is LITERALLY unplayable!
Nobody has ever thought this. Alliance players fold in 1v1 like fresh laundry and will break contact the instant they run up against a group of similar size. They are only threatening if they outnumber or outlevel you. Theyre walking licks the rest of the time.
I tried telling people. They didn’t cut off horde character creation quick enough. Now it’s a Zerg fest and all the horde come to the forums to tell alliance to get good. Just stupidity all over
