The sethrak represent the real problem within Blizzard.
I donât want to see them as a playable race.
I want the sands of time to take them all, ingame and out.

Thereâs a lot of reasons that they wouldnât go horde, if you ask me. Thereâs the nature of the relations between the Sethrak and Vulpera. Even if the Zandalari child is going to see Sethraliss (if I understood that correctly from the ptr), the Zandalari are NOT horde, they are allied to the horde and equals, they can do what they please. Simply because a child wants to see them doesnât necessarily mean that all Sethrak are allying themselves with them.
Thereâs the problem with Rep too, if theyâre going to be bound by a rep, you canât have one rep for 2 separate races, thatâs justâŚextremely cheap and they simply wouldnât do that. Itâs easy to see the Voldunai rep is for the Vulpera, not for both Sethrak AND Vulpera.
AlsoâŚjust because junker is happening, weâve seen the Jinyu model, theyâre just reused from MoP and very old. This being the case, itâs not updated and doesnât appear to be playable whatsoever, so that there is an indication that the Junker are the race from this series of patches, which would leave just one more open~!
Another possibility that would work with the text of the Childrens week quest, is that weâd end up with the Faithless instead of the Devoted.
Lorewise, that would account for horde players to still go to the Temple of the Devoted and see Sethraliss, as well as what the kid said about âsomeâ of them wanting peace.
Its kind of interesting to unpack, the more I think about it. If they were chummy with the Horde wholesale, they wouldnât regularly attack their caravans.
Additional thought-- Since Voldun is so far out of the way of regular commerce, and the Zandalari pretty much stay away from Nazmir or so I heard, then could this mention of caravans be wholly directed toward the Vulpera, making it the first text admission of their playability?
Its not like the horde or the zandalari have anything to really traffic through the desert unless they took a sudden interest in exporting flowering cacti to send to Durotar.
(which wouldnât be a bad idea, to be fair).
that is exactly what I was thinking, we dont get devoted sethrak BUT sethrak who are known as âredeemed Sethrakâ, faithless who have been brought back to believe in Sethraliss. so when you make one starting at lv 20, Vorrik tells them to go on a journy of enlightenment (Aka leveling).
Iâll just be happy to have playable Sethrak, regardless of faction. Iâm wondering if keeping an eye for more Brewfest mugs may act as a clue. If I recall correctly, with that Vulpera mug, the Horde have one more race than the Alliance represented in such a fashion. ^^
Thats why I left it open with how sethrak would start their leveling and how it would explain Faithless joining whatever side!
But to answer your brewfest curiosity, thats what many of my friends and I are thinking. If you count the eventual KT and Zandalari mugs that are missing there are 5 horde (Vulp, ZT, HM, NB and Maghar) and 4 Alliance (KT, VE, LFD or Draenei and DID) that mystery brew is crucial, so lets hope for the best! If its Sethrak brew, Woohoo! If not, we still have a chance still during 8.2.5 to 8.3.x!
Keep hoping lilâ snakes
My gut is telling me that after 8.2.5, heading into 8.3 and beyond, there will be something happening that will make the sethrak much more crucial for something to happen or occur. Whether it be old god related, or they bring in some event with Sylvanas (like the plague bomb in the original beta) or some other person/means. My gut is telling me itâll happen 8.3+
Give up, the alliance will get a sh1t gnome
well thereâs no doubt about that, but thereâs still one more AR slot after them.
As it is right now, there is one more slot. Of course, they can always expand or redesign the character creation selections for core and allied races in the future for more races. ^^
I feel likeâŚthe whole âweâll add more as they become relevantâ was more just towards this expansionâŚand if they DO add more races overall itâll be sparse, not nearly as packed as this expansion.
However, if the Gnomes are indeed slotted for alliance (which is much more probable now) and Vulpera being ratherâŚNEW
To me, that means Alliance should be getting something unique as well whereas the horde get another âreskinâ if that makes senseâŚor just as KulTiran was for humans, an undead-like relative. Thatâs the only race left for horde that doesnât have an âallyâ as Worgen are left for alliance.
Sethrak not being made playable would be a terrible waste.
IâŚam almost certain they will be.
It really would be terrible for the sethrak to go to waste yet the vulpera to be added as an AR. The sethrak have so much more significance lorewise with the whole loa and the battle against ghuuns minions. What have the vulpera done? Letâs see, theyâve been enslaved, theyâve been eaten, and theyâve been pirates. Vulpera are weak and cowardly as a species, and the only ones who can fight are pirates playing around is Kulâtiras, and that one vulpera chick from the voldun storyline.
which is exactly why, after the Rise of Azshara, Iâm really believing if the Sethrak have more significance, itâll be then! Especially if Nâzoth is released or some more old god content comes forward to make the expertise and knowledge of the Sethrak peoples shine~
Maybe Sethrak is the allied race for Pandaren, and theyâll go neutral and choose the faction they want to join, considering the help they received from both?

That was the personal opinion of an ex-employee, not the official stance of the company.
I mean itâs a possibility butâŚthey have said before that making a âneutralâ race like the pandaren was incredibly difficult and they regretted doing such. If memory serves correctly, they stated they wouldnât be doing such for another race again.
Of course how much of that can be believed, who knows?
It is also the personal opinion of most players, especially pvp players
Random off topic thought that i just had nearly falling asleep (happens alot my brain never shuts up).
Similar to how Vulpera/Sethrak fill the new race niche pattern and Gilgoblins/Junkergnomes fill the subrace (created by parent race) niche pattern i just realised with the Horde Goblins attacking the Sentient Gorillas they may have inadvertently created a new option for the future.
Sentient Gorillas for Alliance, Sentient Raptors (play Azshara questline) for Horde creating a new race (formerly animal) nice pattern.
This gives the Horde a reptile/scaled species as an option! while Sethrak seem more likely for Alliance given the combo with Vulpera is too good to see wasted.
We need an entire expansion based around those raptors conquering planets
