Unofficial Sethrak Discussion Thread 🐍

What does moral vagueness have to do with anything? The alliance literally has dark iron dwarves who were previously absolutely immoral and summoned ragnaros (with a faction that is still currently trying to) and tried to destroy the alliance (and world) multiple times.

Vulpera just don’t thematically fit in horde as a minature fuzzy friendly race. But that’s beside the point they’re completely extraneous and shouldn’t even exist. Blizzard just shoe-horned them in for no reason to make cash. The whole expansion and vol’dun story could have been told more cleanly and logically with sethrak alone.

They probably also didn’t want to make sethrak playable because the snake model would be harder to make armor skins for. It’s just laziness all around. Activision-Blizzard.

I think from the perspective of what is needed most Vulpera to Horde was the correct choice, same with Sethrak to Alliance.

Horde needed something cute/sweet/pretty to balance out the cool and Alliance need some more cool to balance out the pretty humans.

DID were def a good move for a darker flavour and Sethrak would be the same, only instead of being morally “dark” they just look the part while being very pious and kind.

I can’t comment on the lazy part, they do seem to take the past of least resistance a lot of the time though.

Absolutely adorable drinking.

Whoa calm down my friend. And I said I’d prefer it. If blizz sends them Alliance I’d hope they had story to go along with it.

Umbric and Wyrmbane express interest in working more with the Devoted and we do save Vorrik. So we got a bit of a start there. But much more needs to be added.

They lack dimorphism which I think is a grand idea for a reptile race. Many of them are female though you can hear their different voices in Vol’dun.

You don’t have to share my opinion.

And I’m perfectly fine if they go Horde. I just want to play Sethrak. I prefer Alliance cause I’m biased as I main Alliance and I think they’d be a very good addition to the Alliance ranks. Something unique that the Alliance doesn’t really have much of.

If you pay attention to the story around them since Cata (and honestly vanilla onward) they were 1, forced to do most of that and 2, Moira has worked hard to bring them out of that.

They’re not just this… They’re very vicious and cunning. Look beyond the physical traits.

I think you’re letting your opinion on them cloud your judgement personally. But to each their own.

Actually everything we’ve seen it wouldn’t be any harder than Worgen.

Aye.

The devs have created vulpes, already wondering if they would be accepted in the Horde. in fact, they would be accepted in any faction, but devs prefer the Horde.

Sethraks also showed that they would be an interesting addition to both the horde and Ally, but the devs didn’t have time or desire to work with them, and after giving the horde vulperas, they couldn’t give sethraks right away without creating something too for the alliance, meaning more time and wasted work on the ally instead of with the Horde.

If sethraks become a playable race, it will be in the horde because there is no lore created so far that makes it plausible.

But at this point of warcraft, I no longer care about Blizzard’s disdain for the alliance.

I just want an interesting race with unique aesthetics in the game.
Sethraks can be delivered to the horde with my blessing.
It will be better than being forgotten in BfA forever.

After Blood elves were a race of the Horde, that rule was thrown out the window.

The Alliance could make good use of this.
We could have more diversity in our ranks.
But the Horde can keep that race for its ranks.
May the Sethraks, at least, be in the horde, as a playable race!

Vulpera are plenty tough. They are resourceful in a rough and unkind world. And I just cannot see the Vulpera wanting to join the Alliance after members of the Alliance set them and their caravans on fire.

The Vulpera knew exactly what they were doing asking to join the Horde. A larger group of survivors not afraid to do some tough things to survive.

Good thing there are friendly Sethrak and Sethrak are humanoid. Checks both of those boxes. They would also add a lot of flavor to the Alliance side.

And they actually share some similarities thematically with Worgen/Gilneans.

Still, I would take them Horde because I understand that thinking as well. We just want them to become a playable option. :woman_shrugging:

Snakes are adorable when they drink. But this is some bravery or foolishness. That’s a Black Necked Spitting Cobra. Naja nigricollis. (Come on I can’t even quote the gif? )

Definitely could work for a drinking animation though. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Sethrak AR please! :snake:

I agree!

The sethrak will make a wonderful addition to the Alliance.

Horde doesn’t seem interested in them…
Baine didn’t even want to recruit any other races.

Still adorable.

Sethrak for the Alliance! (but playable is fine blizz seriously please). :snake:

Of course they are adorable!

I had an Angolan Cape Coral Cobra (Aspidelaps lubricus cowlesi) as a pet (look them up, they are the cutest). His name was Smoog. Cutest little venom noodle. He was a victim of a heating system faulting out. I am still devastated to this day. Lost a few snakes and I was especially attached to little Smoog. :broken_heart: Miss him as much as I miss Hershey.

I would absolutely play a sethrak enhance shaman. I felt like Thor at the start of BfA, would be better as a sethrak. Most people I knew wanted sethrak over vulpera, though I doubt the rest of the community shared their views.

I would love playing a sethrak and making snake food jokes to vulpera.

Don’t listen to Baine, listen to Thrall
the true warchief

Still salty Blizzard didn’t make him warchief again but oh well

I would suggest making an in game suggestion for them! It is under the Help tab! I’ll play a Sethrak on Horde side in a heartbeat. A lot of us here will despite some of our preferences to see them on The Alliance.

Glad to hear that people you knew wanted/want them.

BfA launch night, I just broke Zul out of Stormwind, got to Zandalar right, I’m feeling so green irl, I just watched the entire Alliance fleet get rekt with that Zandalar music, I’m in this mystical place I’ve wanted to see for forever, and then loading screen, I saw the sethrak, immediate thought

“They look cool, I hope they become playable”

Then I fought them in north Zuldazar, got sad. Then did Vol’dun as my second zone, my hopes went up by a lot

I remember when they had the HoA animation datamined, I was so excited.

i wouldn’t mind if a sethrak stepped on my face

i also wouldn’t mind if they were playable

Oh my! I’m sorry to hear that.

My brother’s snake had a heating issue once but my brother was keeping him in his room and he likes heat so he just turned his heater much higher.

I was poking the previous guy a bit I admit but mean no harm in it.

I have no doubt that the Horde would love to have the Sethrak.

I’m curious to see if they do anything useful with their council idea…

I feel like Thrall failed the Horde when he chose Garrosh… So I’m ok with him not being the main lead.

I was excited when I found out that they encrypted the data and hid it along with vulpera… Figured they were a go back then.

I know right?

Disagree but that’s a totally irrelevant discussion (and blizzard agrees with you ;[ ). However, I do get why Thrall isn’t warchief. If they were to give us another warchief? Honestly, would’ve been down with quite a few, but Thalyssra I would’ve actually liked. She just had the spotlight though. I would’ve been cool with Talanji too, but spotlight.

Rokhan would’ve been cool but I don’t want him to get Vol’jin-ed even if Vol’jin is getting redeemed.

Same, but I’m a bit doubtful. I liked the warchief system better. Who knows, maybe the council will turn out cool though.

So many of us wouldn’t. I wouldn’t turn green though, as much as I’d love them.

…but I would shock the next person I touch.

Hmm Thalyssra seems an interesting pick. Honestly I would’ve just gone with Baine as warcheif. High time the Tauren had their due.

Gods I was so sad when Vol’jin basically got nothing to do and was killed off… for Sylvanas of all things! (My Hordie main is a troll, you’ve met I think, Rez’golka.)

I feel like the Alliance’s old council was better than their High King. Lets see how the Horde plays it.

At this point I really just want them playable. If that means Horde, then cool. If it means Alliance awesome. Just. Give. Me. Snakes.

Same but they’d get less Zurogrusel show time if they were on Alliance and I don’t want that.

I know two things, one, the ending of Vol’jin’s story in Shadowlands, and who it was that whispered in his ear. I won’t spoil. All I’ll say, he got redeemed at the end and it was “worth” it.

That said, him dying to an LFR trash mob compared to what Varian got? Seriously, come on.

Also, I dislike how Varian’s last line was for the Alliance and Saurfang’s last was for Azeroth. I get it was part of their arcs, but Saurfang should’ve said for the Horde, in my opinion.

Also Saurfang just scratched Sylvanas? I get he’s old. But he’s a veteran of tons of wars, was Blackhand’s and Doomhammer’s second in command, and he’s a giant orc. He should’ve given a better fight.

And I also wish he just used an axe and didn’t use Shala’mayne too but I’m ranting.

:face_vomiting:
I knew where it was going day one. Hated it every step of the way.

So that’s you in my troll thread

Agreed, almost completely. But Baine needs some depth first. If he got that he’d be my pick, for the same reasons.

That said, I still love Thalyssra and Talanji. I like win/loss types of leaders and I feel both could have a few more losses, but it’s not like they’re all win either.

Thalyssra, though new, is an awesome character in my opinion. I loved following her through Suramar.

I think Alleria would be cool on Alliance too, but I don’t know enough about Alliance characters to speak on who I think should be lead. I just think she’d be cool.

Btw, WTB last names and apostrophes in names so Rezgolka is Rez’golka. And so I can give my shaman the name Stormpelt.

Oh another thing, could you imagine if they made our warchief the chieftain of the Stonemaul?
It’d be hilarious and would upset a lot of blood elf players (and others but mostly them let’s be honest lol). I’d be down with it though if the leader was intelligent, unlike most ogres.

Understandable. Its the same reason I want them Alliance. :stuck_out_tongue:

This I agree with. Also thank you for no spoilers. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah… I feel the opposite. Varian should have said for Azeroth. EVEN though he (in his mind) was being betrayed. I think that would have been a major Ooof! to his arc.

Her fight with Saurfang and Bolvar were borked. I don’t care how powerful the guy shes borrowing power from is, she should have had a harder time.

From Legion on, (Though less so in Legion since you can kinda ignore her for the most part) I’ve had trouble playing Horde because of her and Nathanos…

I’m everywhere. Even if you can’t see me.

I think being Warchief would be a good way to push more depth into him actually. Eh we’ll see how this all goes. Orcs have had plenty of Warcheifs, Vol’jin got to represent the trolls. I wish the Tauren had their day. :stuck_out_tongue:

Suramar was my favorite part of Legion. Hands down. Very much because of her and Oculeth.

I know a fair bit about her but I don’t think shes the lead an Alliance of races type. Lead a strike team? Hell yes. She’ll lead them all day. But a nation? Nah.

I think Anduin would be my pick if he wasn’t already… Hes a good diplomat and I think hes being underplayed in BfA…

Gods yes. Theres been some rumor that might be a thing actually. Saw a bit of datamining. Rez’golka probably wouldn’t get a last name… but this toon would be changed from Fezzy to Fenn Softpaw.

… Blizz would make a lot of money off me on name changes actually if they do this.

… I would lose my head. lol

Seriously though I actually really like and respect the Ogres and that would certainly be a Horde to see. lol

… and also the complaints. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, fair then. I feel they fit in more with Horde even without existing story because of the Frostwolf Clan. I feel them and the devoted would feel a lot in common. Thrall and Vorrik would certainly relate on some level too.

We also don’t know anything about Zandalari relations before our arrival. Based on some dialogue, probably nothing, maybe occasional trade or interaction. Nor do we know about vulpera relations, before our arrival. But there could be some expansion there.

We also don’t know current relations.

:sunglasses:

Or how Bolvar was a new Lich King, or whatever the arguement is. It felt entirely one sided. Her winning? Psh, fine I guess, but it shouldn’t have been that easy.

I’m sure she could have lost even, and we still would have gotten Shadowlands. I’d prefer that since the Helm of Domination wouldn’t have been broken. Even if it can be repaired I don’t feel it should have ever been broken.

Maybe she could have used his weapon to break the barrier instead?

It’s easier now. Hope we don’t get villain batted again.

I loved Occuleth too. Thalyssra is someone who I’m happy to have the spotlight on, as long as it doesn’t overbear other characters, or even herself. Also, Suramar music. It’s SO great. Honestly. And the city? I’d spend so much time there if it became a functioning city. Cherry on top would be if Suramar the zone became revamped too.

I loved Legion so much, Suramar was my favorite thing after Argus and my artifact (was destro main in Legion, I loved Lord of Flames and Dimensional Rift SO MUCH, plus being an orc and wielding the Scepter of Sargeras was 10/10)

Fair, fair.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:
Oh my, I dear hope so.

Also I hope I don’t have to pay for name changes, I have to buy WoW tokens as it is. Bit knowing Blizz and how the changed the name thing when undeleting characters, well…

We all know how it’ll probably go. Probably.

If they can get past the unintelligent stereotypes even a bit, and did more, I’d want ogres much more than I already do, which is a lot. See, the Horde vanguard thing in Dazar’alor, the Great Seal. They put a hozen there. They remembered a hozen, but not ogres/forest trolls/taunka. Disappointing, I would’ve loved seeing them all.

BfA was the perfect time to introduce all of those three as ARs, and their Alliance thematic equivelents of Quel’dorei/Wildhammer/Frostborn to Stonemaul/Revantusk/taunka. The Northrend ones still have a good chance to be ARs, Wildhammer are becoming customization, and Quel’dorei too, nothing to be heard of the Stonemaul. Revantusk unheard of but likely to be customization, too. Sadly.

Something over nothing though, as always.

Ogres could make an interesting pick of warchief. It’d feel like a huge joke. But if they make that warchief like Garrosh in Cataclysm after building on ogres in the Horde more I’m sure most would get past it and love it.

HOHOHO! Oh you.

It must have been tense. As you fly in they’re worried about getting to close to the snake men. But they also remark that they are normally underground.

They almost sound like they’re regarded as boogeymen.

Aye… Garrosh wasn’t bad in Cata but MoP sucked… Then BFA…

It’s my hope they’d give a one time free name change per character. But yeah… We know how it would probably go. Lol

Ogres bring dumb is only an after their empire fell thing.

Surely being with the Horde for years some of them can become smart again.

Plus some of the Draenor alternate Gorians came with the Mag’har… They could help…

Don’t forget the Hozen/Jinyu setup.

I agree bfa should have had a focus bringing in the old allies finally.

Hey dream big they say… Lol
