Unofficial Sethrak Discussion Thread 🐍

Maybe their throats? There are a LOT of species that specifically puff out their throats as a defensive displace.

Twig Snakes
Puffing Snakes
Boomslangs
Trinket Snakes
Indigo Snakes/Cribo Snakes

Just to name a few. I still have not recovered my TL3 so if anyone wants to share examples of those snakes throat puffing, go for it!

And by the way

Sethrak Allied Race please! :heart::snake:

There you go, three samples~

And three of the species I listed!

Sweet!

Two of those are highly venomous and one is harmless yet they all use the same defense display.

To be honest this might look super silly on Sethrak. But to be fair those snakes look really silly too. Sethrak already have a hood which is essentially the equivalent here. The hood of a cobra has the same purpose as the throat puffing. Which is to scare off predators or other threats.

Yeah I’d stick with the hood… maybe a hoodless option for a more peaceful, happier look but that maybe a lot of effort asset wise.

The throat puffing just is too much of an amphibian thing for my tastes (Even with those handsome boys up above proving its not just for froggos).

Maybe have a hoodless option that is kinda like how Worgen have two forms? A hooded form and a hoodless form but going into combat automatically activates the hooded form.

Which is how Cobras work in real life. If they don’t feel threatened, they won’t flare their hood.

That would be a really cool addition~ Hopefully when they add Sethrak they’d be willing to fuss with things like that for a little extra racial flavor.

I’d even accept no/limited helms if that was an option (and if they really let us go wild with hood customization)

It definitely would be a neat option but I think it would require a good bit of model updating to work.

I’m fine without it too.

And personally I have no issue if the devs were to choose to forego helms on Sethrak and make that slot unequippable. I just want my Sethrak darn it. :sob:

Even though we all know it shouldn’t be an issue. But just in case it was. I wanna see their faces anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

Junkgnomes cannot wear gloves, boots, pants, shirts …
Why would it be a problem if Sethraks were unable to wear helmets?
And historically, various equipment in warcraft has always been a controversial fitting item for tauren, worgen, elves, draenei and vulperas.

Since we haven’t seen any posts for a couple days, thought I’d give this a nudge.

Let’s talk the /cry emote. How would Sethrak cry? What kind of motion/animation would you think would work? Or you would like to see?

Can Sethrak even produce tears? And if so, how? Based on what I just researched in snakes, it’s likely Sethrak make tears as well.

Snakes in real life do not cry. Although I am not sure if they possess tear ducts or not.

EDIT:
Snakes DO possess tear ducts. And do produce tears but they cannot “cry” because of the protective lens cap that covers their eyes.

I believe that they show sadness in another way, but I would not be attached to this detail and would be surprised if they were shown crying.

More unlikely things already happen in this game.

I remember a character in a manga who had the same dilemma to smile, since his facial structure doesn’t have that function.

He tried to open his mouth wide, naturally, showing his fangs, which scared everyone.

but she showed that she could cry, because when she failed to smile, she put her hands over her face, covering her eyes with sadness.

There were no tears but it showed very clearly that he was sad. :sob:

For me, it is enough.

This is what I’d expect of a Sethrak. They may not cry like we do but the action of crying can convey plenty without tears.

Yeah. I think the animation and body language would be the best way to display this for Sethrak.

And still hoping for a /hiss emote. Cause Sethrak totally need one.

Racially specific emotes outside of the dance emote in general would be pretty neat.

Ie: Vulpera and Worgen can get a sort of growl.
Pandaren ??? I honestly have no idea all the sounds Pandas make. :joy:

Aye.

If they don’t have one we riot. Lol
Worgen get /roar. We need a hiss.

Loud sneeze. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry bro, Sethrak sucks

They drink water (and it’s so cute) so they must suck at some point.

Weird thing to bring up but I guess we can talk about how they drink?

Sethrak is just a good display of how blizzard has lost their way. They would thematically fit into the horde perfectly, and the whole vol’dun quest campaign primarily revolves around helping the sethrak. There was literally no reason to add vulpera to vol’dun, the entire story could have been told with meeting up with a group of rogue sethrak leading into the larger battle over sethraliss, and gaining their trust. Instead they added vulpera for no thematic reason but because they thought it would sell better.

Personally I think they fit better thematically for Alliance but I’d be fine if they did go horde.

I also really like the Vulpera and I don’t see why we can’t have both.

If they’re going to add vulpera (too late at this point, but they never should have) it would fit a lot better into the alliance. They’re a friendly fuzzy race. It makes no sense in the horde dynamic where every race is a tough/brutal race. Alliance is for humanoid friendly races.

I disagree, Vulpera are vicious scavengers and survivors. They fit very well among the Horde.

Their moral… Vagueness would be somewhat frowned upon in the Alliance I think.

Sethrak while very Troll like have a much more regal and Proud standing, with a strong interest it seems in justice. I think they’d fit well in the Alliance. Plus it would give us a more beastial race.

Just my thoughts though. Alliance has few story beats compared to the Horde so more would have to occur to make more sense.
