Unofficial Night Elf Worgen Discussion Thread

I was literally just discussing something similar with my friends in Discord.

Even though I am Forsaken and 100% a loyalist (At least, on my main  )

How awesome would it be to have an unlock scenario for them where you work alongside Tyrande and Genn to wreak havoc on the Undead? The sheer amount of ferocity and anger coming from within that united front would be terrifying.

Physically, I imagine the Nelf-Worgen to be more feral than ever. Longer fangs than they have now, claws on hands and feet, perhaps even some torn/ragged ears. I absolutely love this concept.

I would totally be on board with NE worgens being released from the ED and used in the Army of the Black Moon. It would be a great way to cement the bond between the NEs and Worgen. As the NEs helped the Worgen regain their humanity, they could now help the NE worgen to understand their place in this new world.

NE worgen demon hunters would be a dream come true.

Iā€™m sorry, what are you talking about here exactly?

If youā€™re talking about The Pack Form (the four legged druidic wolf form), youā€™re right, Malfurion couldnā€™t handle it at all, not nearly as well as his apprentice Ralaar, who struggled with it but was far more skilled with that particular form. If youā€™re talking about Pack Form being in the game, it is possible. The Pack Form was granted by worshipping Goldrinn, who still exists, and we see characters such as Alzzin the Wildshaper and Garwal use wolf forms ingame.

Now if youā€™re talking about Kaldorei Worgen, thatā€™s possible too. Theyā€™re just Kaldorei that were bitten, instead of humans. They are as sentient and cunning as their human counterparts, and - lead by Alpha Prime - orchestrated the whole attack on Gilneas. The original Kaldorei-worgen banished to the Emerald Dream over nine thousand years ago we let loose in Silverpine, Duskwood, and Felwood, and exist in pack cultures in those zones to this day. See Curse of the Worgen and Dark Riders.

Thatā€™s been fixed since then. Pretty much any reason not to have them no longer applies.
To leave the night elven worgen slumbering in the dream when there is a solution would be inhumaneā€¦inelfmane?

Plus theyā€™d be a great fighting force at this point, and considering Tyrande and Genn are both showing signs of dissention, thatā€™d be another reason to go wake them.

And again, this is no longer the case as shown with human worgen and the night elven worgen helping them.

Plus, the recruitment/awakening could just involve getting Goldrinn on board because some bad stuff (like every expansion) is going down.

Itā€™s entirely doable. Lore fully supports their joining.

This is also incorrect as a large number of non-druid night elves were turned into worgen during the ā€œoutbreakā€. Itā€™s not just druids.

The Island Expeditions worgen also drop an item that points toward night elf worgen being already out there and feral, they could even work out a storyline to bring them into the fold and give them the same ā€œcureā€ as the human worgen.

The children of Goldrinn need to be a playable option, Golā€™dorei.

Worgen != Pack Form, else Malfurion would have long since awakened those he put to sleep for eternity. Iā€™m fine with NE worgen, Iā€™m not fine with springboarding them off of Pack Form.

Pack Form would be a Druid form - non-Druid NEs would simply be worgen.

Gotcha, youā€™re talking about the full wolf form which would likely be what a druid uses for itā€™s dps form.
Iā€™d prefer seeing all druid forms being based off wolf.
Large dire wolf for tank, regular wolf for dps, wolfhawks for flying.

Still easy to create lore to explain why itā€™s now usable.

Exactly that, which is Pack Form.

^ Correct.

Pack Form - four legs, druid form, draws on Goldrinn directly
Worgen Curse - two legs, NOT a druid form, is a curse drawing on Elune and Goldrinn.

This thread is about Night Elf Worgen, the latter. Iā€™m a little confused why Pack Form is being discussed, since those banished into the Dream by Mal were Kaldoriei Worgen, no longer druids of the pack.

Edit: Or are we talking about Pack Form as a druid form for the NE-Worgen allied raceā€™s druid class? In which case I agree, a NE Worgenā€™s dps form aught to be Pack Form. It is usable in short uses, as seen in Curse of the Worgen, but the complication comes from Malfurion Stormrageā€™s decree that its practice is illegal. He would have to either change his mind (which heā€™s done before, he thought worgen were freaks until he met the Gilneans) or theyā€™d be using it against his orders. Both of which have happened before. In the novel Wolfheart, Mal and Tyrande welcome the Highborne back into their culture, allowing them to use magical arts the two had made illegal ten thousand years ago.

We also have to consider, are there even any left in the dream?

We saw Alpha Prime and his followers banished in Curse of the Worgen, and it was a small army. But just a small army. https://i.imgur.com/BPtKCdK.jpg

Over nine thousand years later, several worgen escape the dream across the globe. Genn has Arugal summon several worgen - including Alpha Prime - to fight off the Scourge. Belysra Starbreeze summons scores of worgen to fight the demon forces in Felwood, summons countless more on accident. The Defias Brotherhood stumble upon the Scythe in Duskwood, and accidentally unleash a full pack of worgen upon the forest. In addition, a handful of worgen have made their way out themselves, having woken up on their own and wandered the Dream, only to arrive in the mortal world in Valā€™sharah.

Some worgen were banished, scores of worgen were summoned. How many more could possibly be in there? If summoning them is the chosen path, there may need to be additional lore stating that Malfurion banished several more batches of k-worgen after Alpha Primeā€™s personal followers.

OP brought in the Druid of the Pack, and Pack Form, which is where I got started.

If itā€™s simply NE worgen, thatā€™s fine - as we cleansed some ferals ingame.

Honestly with the fact that Tyrande and Genn are not happy with Sylvanas escaping I think this could potentially lead to her releasing the remaining Night Elf Worgen from the Emerald Dream and allying with them to hunt down Sylvanas and Nathanos.

And then we also have Vassandra the Kaldorei Druid who was in Gilneas that helped us regain our humanity with the ritual in Duskwood helping those feral Worgen regain their humanity as well. As seen in the Worgen Heritage Questline. These two points could potentially be setting up having Night Elf Worgen become the next Allied Race.

Hey guys! Nevari/Keori/Reona here! (the OP)

Of course we have seen a lot of developments since I first made this thread.

Since so much has happened, I am just going to add a few more things to consider in light of these other revelations. So right now, itā€™s really looking more and more possible that this AR/Sub Race could actually make it into the game! The story line is almost stupid perfect to NOT implement them and Blizzard keeps on teasing us by busting out Goldrinn as well as showing that there is STILL much going on within the Emerald Dream, which is where our sleepy elf doggos currently are.

So letā€™s break it down! I will go over some of the facts in which I had stated in my initial post as they still are very much relevant in this case.

We have Tyrande and her whole Night Warrior ordeal. Itā€™s heavily implemented that sheā€™s going to kind of break off in someways with the Alliance, having us a bit of dejavu in the whole ā€œpick a sideā€ thing.

  • Lordaeron is currently vacated, Horde forces are now for the most part on Kalimdor while the Eastern Kingdoms is now mostly Alliance territories. Even if there is confirmation that 9.0 makes the factions no more a thing, the cultures and what not will remain. With the Horde moved out, itā€™s been well enough time to cleanse and have the blight/plague removed to a point that it can be a habitable spot once more.

  • Gilneas is in very close proximity of Lordaeron. It is a huge zone in which has been bare for nearly 10 years. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Blizzard will do something with this. With the current story line, my guess is that when the Alliance retakes Lordaeron, the Gilneans will also take back their kingdom.

  • The Night Elves saved the Gilnean people. Not only were they the ones to perform the druidic ritual to grant them control over their affliction, they saved them from the Forsaken invasion. Should the Gilneans retake their kingdom, Genn will return the favor and offer the Kaldorei a home within their kingdom.

  • Talā€™doren in Gilneas is also Daralā€™nir in the Emerald Dream, which is where both the Gilneans underwent the ritual as well as where the remaining night elf worgen sleep in the Emerald Dream. With Gilneas now home to the worgen and Night Elves, with Night elves suffering heavy casualties during the burning of Teldrassil, Tyrande may have Malfurion release the Kaldorei worgen to bolster their armies once again. In the current day, we still have a method to restore humanity so such rituals could be performed on the night elf worgen like the Gilneans.

https://wow.gamepedia.com/Tal%27doren

  • There is still a LOT of activity in the Emerald Dream. Not only do we see Goldrinn becoming active through the Heritage armor, players as a whole go back into the Dream through the Heart of Azeroth chain. It was noted at the end of the Emerald Nightmare raid, corruption still was within the Dream and was later confirmed through that chain. We know not of the extent of the corruption that keeps stemming out however.

  • The Curse of the Worgen Comic series show that the worgen did NOT discriminate on who they bit. Therefore, should night elf worgen become an AR, they would be more than just druids.

https://imgur.com/a/Os6guKd

  • Night Elf Worgen currently exist in the game. These arenā€™t like Void Elves. They exist in the game. They are what started the curse to begin with. Even with Catacylsm changes, we have Night Elf worgen existing. In Felwood, there is a group of them under the charge of Denmother Ulrica. In Valā€™sharah, there are neutral feral worgen that when you use the Scythe of Elune on them, they revert to their night elf forms.

With the way things are, I feel we are going to get some HEAVY night elf storyline going and with that, I pray, we do finally get to see our night elf worgen!

With the new leveling system going into place for Shadowlands where you wonā€™t start off in the racial zones, and all the customization options being added, I could actually see them adding Kaldorei Worgen as a customization to Worgen. I mean the big issue before was that it would make no sense to go through the Gilneas intro as a Night Elf, but that issue is no alleviated.

The only problem I see now is the question of how did the Kaldorei Worgen regain their humanity? Unless Blizzard did a short scenario to show them joining up with us and undergoing the ritual it would be a big question left unanswered.

Well, the Bloodfang Worgen helping the Alliance right now donā€™t seem to have a problem there, and a good half of them are Kaldorei-worgen that followed Alpha Prime. Curse of the Worgen and Dark Riders show that the Bloodfang and Nightbane packs are sane, but chaotic-neutral. The real question would be how to convince them to join the cause. Malfurion didnā€™t banish Alpha Prime and the first worgen because they went mindless, he banished them because the willingly became enemies.

Wat. Where are lvl 1 characters starting then? I havenā€™t heard this yet.

Yes, you are right they arenā€™t mindless, but they are still feral and so technically run the risk of being dangerous. Which is why I assumed they would have a scenario where they undergo the ritual.

But yeah in Deep Dive panel on Saturday they confirmed that the new leveling experience will be 1-10 on this new island called Exileā€™s Reach, although existing players who make alts can still choose to do the original zones, and then once you hit level 10 you leave the island.

New players will be forced to go straight to BfA for the most recent content.

Existing players will have the option to go to any of the previous expansions to level through 10-50.
