WoW: Dragonflight is now officially a thing. You can see the official website here (my computer’s CPU percentage goes up going to this website, so please keep that in mind before you click the link that it could do that to yours as well and slow it down):
Of note is the new Dracthyr race, which can shapeshift to a humanoid form (appears to just be one type of humanoid race currently) which can only be the new Evoker class:
So we kinda have our first playable reptilian race. Despite that, I’m hoping that Sethrak fans aren’t discouraged at all.
As I stated in my Saurok megathread, there is a big difference between dragons and other reptilian races. Moreso with Dracthyr having a humanoid form. I see no reason why Dracthyr would bar any other reptilian races from ever becoming playable, and hopefully they wouldn’t be treated as the definitive reptilian races.
I mean, Night Elves didn’t stop Blood Elves from being playable, and both are completely different in many ways. I’d expect the same with Sethrak and Saurok. Besides, I’ve advocated having multiple reptiles on that character creation screen, and I still stand by it. After all, we have multiple flavors of elf, dwarf, human, and such. I see no reason why lizard and snake people would be completely barred as a result.
As such, I still hope Sethrak fans continue to support them as a playable race. I still stand with y’all and I’m also going forward with my playable Saurok support. I don’t see Dracthyr affecting either of their chances, and while I expect there to suddenly be “we already have a reptile race!” comments occasionally, it’ll just be a silly argument in the grand scheme of things. Best to not let that get to you.
Besides, as you’ve seen from my posts here, I advocate for multiple reptilian races. We got one so far, so let’s see if we can get more on there!
As always, lets continue to try and get some more reptiles on that character creation screen!
