With the end of the DF expansion next year, I think we could get an expansion about the Light with Yrel and Lightbound coming on Azeroth and bringging many species from Draenor (Arakkoa, Saberon, Ogre, Mag’har Orc, Botani, Goren, etc). Saberon could leave Draenor to find a new home with all these Lightbound on Draenor.
Blizzard has announced that Blizzcon will be held in-person on November 3rd through November 4th:
While we may have at least one more major Dragonflight patch, I am curious if we’re getting closer to when it’ll be time to announce the next expansion.
Lots of rumors have been going around with what the next expansion could be. One of them involves a Void vs Light theme, which could very well mean the return of Yrel and the Lightbound somehow. In which case, it would be a good time to address the Saberon that came with us, preferably as a playable race of course.
We’ll see what happens when Blizzcon happens, and should anything of Saberon interest be announced, I’ll be sure to help report it here.
-Playable Saberon would be grrrrrrrreat!
As a big fan of saberon (maybe not as big as you though) I appreciate that you keep this thread alive.
Keep fighting the fight!
would they have super speed
I can’t decide if I want my Saberon to be a Druid a hunter or a shaman…
Why not one of all three? Assuming we keep getting new character slots, of course!
I’m currently planning at least one to be a male Rogue with an orange tiger skin, where I haven’t decided the spec yet. The other, a female with a white tiger skin, I’m still debating on. Maybe a Survival Hunter or an Elemental Shaman. Regardless, I do have character slots reserved for both, and if we’re lucky enough to get playable Saberon, I’ll see if I get any more inspiration then. I’ll still think on it some in the meantime.

Or they just let us buy slots… Old Gods I wish.
These cats are having an important discussion! They’re noting that it is a new month and lamenting the fact that Saberon aren’t playable yet, with the ones that came with us from AU Draenor in BfA still being MIA. But you can help both these cats and the Saberon!
With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.
If you’re interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:
There is still a lot of potential with the Saberon, so every little bit in making sure they aren’t forgotten is always helpful!
-Playable Saberon would be grrrrrrrreat!
Mine is gunna be a monk, gunna race change my existing pandaren monk into one when the option eventually presents itself
With Summer time coming up, I imagined how Saberon would try to keep cool, and then came across some videos of people making popsicles (bloodsicles and meatsicles) for wild cats. You can see what I mean in the videos below:
I imagine such items being made by Saberon Frost Mages. They would make for some interesting and unique food items in the game. Especially if there were recipes for them your characters could learn from them.
And whatever plans everyone has for the season, please have a fun, happy, and safe summer time!

would the male lions have a mane
Male Saberon of any type should have manes as a customization option.
Not only is it really fitting, but we’ve seen them have manes in-game. Even one that has a tiger fur pattern has a mane. I could imagine different mane types, like a small man, big fluffy mane, to having things like braids and such in them. A lot of possibilities with it!
-Playable Saberon would be grrrrrrrreat!
leopard, cheetah, tiger, lion, panther, etc??
I would love to be a saberon fury warrior.
Pretty much. Manes should be available to all types of male Saberon, even if the RL wild cats they would be based on wouldn’t have them. Besides, I think it’d be easier to code that as opposed to having restrictions based on fur patterns, as well as pleasing more people who would want manes on their Saberon characters.
Speaking of, it has been awhile since I looked at RL wild cat videos for Saberon idea inspiration. I should add that to my list of posts-to-post in the near future.

Seeing as Saberon Monks would be a thing if they were playable, I came across an art piece of a Tabaxi (D&D) Monk with a snow leopard fur pattern I wanted to share. This comes from DeviantArt, was created by rudiindra4, and was uploaded to the website on October 15th, 2021.
“ShadowMonk Snow Leopard Tabaxi” by rudiindra4 on DeviantArt
I figured this would be a good idea to share for inspiring Saberon Monk visuals somewhat. Especially since we’ve seen Saberon NPC’s have a snow leopard pattern. I’m sure Saberon Monks would be fairly popular, and trying to find some inspiration for each class would be important to share when possible.
I’ll keep an eye out for more art pieces to share for playable Saberon idea inspiration!

I’ve seen a few people mention that they really like panthers, so I thought I’d link some videos on panther facts for playable Saberon idea inspiration.
Videos are below, some of which show some still shots and videos of prey being caught and snacked on, so viewer discretion is advised:
I imagine Panther fur patterns being really popular for Saberon Rogues, as it is a very fitting combination. I’m guessing they would be able to have customization options for complete black fur or adding in some jaguar/leopard spots/stripes, though it would be a bit hard to see them as they are IRL.
I’ll continue to look up videos on various types of wild cats to share for playable Saberon idea inspiration!

This tiger is announcing that it is a new month and that it is the purrfect opportunity to submit some in-game feedback for playable Saberon and other races we want to see playable!

Gotta keep up the support so that the Saberon aren’t forgotten and could become much more if given the chance and fleshed out!

I have returned to what is, in my personal opinion, the most interesting forum post for WoW. It’s been awhile since I’ve come here and if I’m being honest, I only skimmed through everything. Now, to refresh on a few things…
I am someone who has a deep love for monstrous cat men with a tribal theme, so much so that when I went to ESO my RP/PvP guild was heavily inspired by the saberon. Second I discovered the saberon on draenor when I was still a kid, I immediately fell in love with the race. Made an ATTEMPT to main a druid just for that form, but I will always suck at feral druid, will always remain the sub rogue… No matter how much you nerf me Blizzard, I will find a way to one shot someone. Back to the matter of saberon, the moment I saw they could also be in the form of a Snow Leopard… and Panther, my love for the race grew even more. See, my favorite creature within the entirety of the animal kingdom, happens to be a Jaguar with the panther genes that blacken their fur. Mean cmon, short and stocky cats that hunt gators for food?? Sounds terrifying. I’ve every intention of basing my future saberon rogue off of this very animal, both in hunting tactics, and biology of the beautiful jaguar for the purpose of rp.
Saberon Mounts, honestly I don’t really care what we get for their mounts. Like the idea of it tying into their culture. Random idea that just came to me, maybe something about how it’s a pinnacle of pride to find a savage beast within the jungles only to wrestle it into submission to tame it. Then it becomes a big deal to form a deep bond with their mounts. I believe this could open up to some fun quests, both from a gameplay perspective and story. Imagine doing a questline in the next expansion where we’re introduced to this saberon character and their pet who have this incredible bond… We grow attach to these two, only to watch the pet get slaughtered and the saberon unleash their true nature. Thus showing the savagery and true monstrous nature within the saberon.
Voices, imagine something similar to the khajiit but deeper, bit more of a growl. Maybe even differing between each saberon, sounding more like the animal they most closely relate to in appearance. However doubt we’d get that much detail. Also, love the idea of them killing Botani and using their body parts in different rituals. Maybe the “flesh” of botani is a plant that has magical properties that they seek. Fun idea to play around with in my head, let me know your thoughts on it!
Faction. Already made mention of them having ties to the horde, but what about my reasoning? Well, after having to war with the Lightforged, I have many MANY doubts that they would trust any faction who would house a draenei, lightforged of any kind, or largely worships the light. Could even have some story elements of their leaders distrusting Lady Menethil since she is a light bound undead. Their past with the Army of the Light with the fact that they are a very tribal people, makes it hard to imagine them in the alliance. Mind you, this is coming from a player whose played the Alliance for most of his life in WoW. The friends I have who still play, are also mostly Alliance… Least the RPers, pvp friends are Horde. Honestly, I imagine that the Saberon could get along very well with the trolls, mean we do see some similarities between their cultures, even from the very little we know of the Saberon. Not only that, but the druidic form we used in WoD, that turns you into a saberon… COMES from the trolls. So, I’d be interested in seeing an interaction between the two groups.
Now, what about racials? Mean we want this race to be good, and personally I’d love to see racials hold more of an important role. BUT, going with simple things for now. One racial could be an enrage type ability, similar to the orcs. Story behind it could infact be that they’re giving into their most basic of instincts, becoming wild animals as they decimate the enemy. However, the enraged racial has been done on a couple races if I’m not mistaken yes? Orc, Mag’har, and Troll if memory serves, please correct me if I’m wrong. So, something different from that… Could be a gap closer. We see a number of saberon in game have great leaping capabilities, so maybe give them a similar ability to the goblins jump racial but make it a targetable attack that makes you leap behind or simply too a target. Another possible racial could be tied into the saberon’s history, a certain even that involves nearly defeating the great Flying Arakkoa. Give them a net ability, could be something that locks the target in place. Which I’d love if they made it affect players as well, but I doubt Blizzard would want to do that. So maybe when cast against players it instead slows them for, maybe five to seven seconds? Another possible idea, something that could prove useful in PvE as well, as most of this stuff is coming from a heavy PvPer… Is a roar. Now, what does this roar do? Well, it could do a number of things. One possible outcome is to stun those around you in a short radius, could work as a fear or simple 3 second stun. ANOTHER possible use for this, is a buff for your party. Maybe “the ferocious roar of the saberon, rallies forth their allies, preparing their minds for battle.”
My thing is that the Saberon should be a very combat orientated race. Reason being, they’ve been fighting the Army of the Light for thirty plus years, only to come to a new world where they undoubtedly had to face other threats they’ve never seen before. So I think the race should have a strong ability to adapt and kill, they are literally cats which are some of the most successful killers in the animal kingdom. So they should have racials to show this imo.
Emotes: Alright so first off, we gotta start with the dance, it can’t be something goofy or silly. This is a group of savage tribal monsters, so their dance should show this. Implement something that involves alot of use with their claws, something I imagine the saberon would have a good bit of pride over. If you know of anything like this, lemme know! They could even use tribal dances that we see in the real world, no need to just make something up.
Design: Alright so, the last thing I want is for the saberon to look all cute and cuddly, or furry like in any fashion. If you want to give that as an option, sure, go for it, but please… PLEASE let us make them look like monsters. Give us faces with a wild look in their eyes, scars to add to them, war paint to show pride in the kill. They should look like monsters, not furries. I know they’ll want to make the females at least look all cute and fluffy, but they still need a more vicious looking option. As for armor and possibly tech, a tribal aesthetic would be preferred and make the most sense… However, if they’ve been working alongside what we knew as the Iron Horde, then would it not be possible that MAYBE a few engineer saberon exist? Maybe they know something about iron horde tech? Now, I’m not saying make them all about tech and everything but I wouldn’t mind seeing a little use of Iron Horde tech for something like, traps and hunting tools. Maybe a war machine here or there but that shouldn’t be the focus by any means. However then they’d be a bit too similar to the Charr from Guild Wars, and I’m unsure how that’d be taken by the community. If the route of Charr isn’t taken, then I want to see alot of tribal aspects shown in their armor. Within the saberon culture from WoD, what we saw is that those who have access to magic are higher up, but then the highest members of the order seem more like sub rogues. Good mix between stealthy murder, magic, and swordsmanship. There is a saberon decked out in armor with a hood if I remember correctly in WoD, if we got something like that I’d be incredibly happy. Show their savagery.
There is alot more I’d love to touch on, but I’m afraid I’m out of time. It’s so great to see that this forum is still going. There is nothing but HOPE that those from Blizzard give this a read and implement the Saberon into the game!
Also I have some personal art of saberon however I’d rather not post it here. However, would be fine with sharing it to Bagzak over DMs on discord if you’re willing to share that information!
Edit: Do apologize for the three posts of this. Thought this issue was only a problem over discord when my internet decides to hiccup. Deleted the other two posts above as they were never updated. Also heading up to add some more to this post.
