I think one of my New Years Resolutions will be to work on supporting playable Saberon more (in addition to my other wanted races of course). I’m behind on a few post ideas that I’ve been wanting to do for this megathread and should look into doing them soon.
Saberon are also one of the few NPC races that if made playable with the others I particularly want, I’ll have almost every character I’ve made in a previous MMORPG that I can remember, which has a lot of meaning to me. In the case of Saberon, I’ve mentioned before having the name of a previous Vah Shir/Kerran character from Everquest 1 and 2, and I’ll always keep a character slot reserved for him and likely another character if Saberon or some feline race becomes playable in the future. There are plenty of races in general I’d like to see playable, but I’ve been focused on a few specific ones I really want the most, with Saberon being one of them of course.
And I’ll likely keep bringing up how some Saberon and Botani came with us again and again, since it’s something that I feel like should come up again in the future. Preferably with playable Saberon coming out of it, of course, but we’ll see if/when something comes of our extra passengers from AU Draenor and how it gets treated.
In the meantime, we’ll keep at it to make sure Saberon aren’t forgotten and show how awesome they’d be if made playable!
And with the arrival of a new month, another opportunity to submit in-game race request suggestions arrives!
At the beginning of each month, I usually send in-game feedback for each of the races I want to see and refer to their megathreads on here for more information. I figure it can only help to gain some interest in our requests of what we’d like to see, though no guarantees it’ll lead to that ever becoming a reality.

I came across a cool art piece of a female Tabaxi archer from D&D on DeviantArt I wanted to share. It was created by rudiindra4 and uploaded to the website on October 15th, 2021.
One of the cool things about it is that the armor you see really looks Saberon-like, just a bit more elaborate. Since Saberon would be big on hunting, I could see Saberon Hunters with a similar type of armor on. Sure, most would likely want to get up and close to the hunt, but they could still have some archers that sneak around also.
And speaking of sneaking around, the fur color is something neat to see as well. I could imagine Saberon Rogues and Hunters using fur colors/patterns similar to panthers, which would be really cool and fitting to see!
As usual, I’ll be looking for other art pieces to share for playable Saberon idea inspiration!
Had a really interesting video on my YouTube recommendations. It’s a video showing off an armored Saberon with different armor colors and animations, which looks kinda like Shaman and Warlock garb.
And before you get excited on seeing the video title, it looks like it came from the WoD alpha build and was uploaded to YouTube in 2014, so it isn’t really new. It also comes from a Spanish fansite of WoW and Blizzard games, which is really cool to see.

So far, this model is one of best things I’ve seen to help imagine a Saberon player character. Hopefully, that will become a reality someday!
It has been mentioned before that a panther fur pattern would be really popular for Saberon Rogues, and to help illustrate that vision, I came across another art piece of a Tabaxi (D&D) Rogue that has such a fur pattern. This one was created by MetGod and uploaded to DeviantArt on January 22nd, 2019.
This is a great image to help envision how Saberon Rogues would look. As I said before, I think a panther option would be really popular and fitting for Saberon Rogues. I actually planned on a Saberon Rogue character for one of my Saberon character ideas, though I was going to give him a regular tiger fur pattern if I ever got to create him. That said, I can see Rogues being a popular class for Saberon in general for somewhat obvious reasons.
Also, I’m at three posts in a row, so if someone could post so I could continue to make future posts and keep supporting playable Saberon, I’d appreciate it! I’ll also keep looking for art pieces to share to help inspire playable Saberon ideas!
The current plan I have is to make a male orange tiger, possibly a Rogue class, and also a female white tiger, still trying to determine the class for her.
Tigers are one of my favorite animals, which is why I’ve always gone that direction with feline races when applicable. The one character I want to create from previous MMO’s has always been an orange tiger as a result.
I do think one of the cool things about playable Saberon potential is that they would have several different fur colors and patterns of various wild cats IRL, and would be capable of looking really unique compared to other Saberon players. You’d see tigers, lions with manes, panthers, cheetahs, and so on. There is quite a bit of variety that I think players would love to utilize in the character creation screen.
It’s one of those races you’d want to see how others customized their characters because of all the potential customization options for them. Hopefully, we’ll be able to see that in-game someday!
Blizzard would botch it 100% and turn it into furry bait. Would love them, just as i wanted worgen as playable, but blizzard loves ruining beast races.
I took some screenshots with the Saberon illusion toy to show off how a Saberon character could look if they were to ever become playable. A bit pressed for time at the time of this post, so I took what I could and will add brief descriptions for each.

I plan to take more screenshots in the future when inspiration strikes. I do think even with the limited model, it helps to really imagine how playable Saberon would look like among members of the Horde.
I recall seeing some white, spotted Saberon in WoD, west of the alliance Garrison.
I swore that if ever Saberon became playable, that would be what mine looked like.

Saberon have a number of fur colors/patterns based on RL wild cats. It’s one of the things that make them really interesting to see as a playable race.
As for posting a screenshot, you’ll need Trust Level 3 first. Then you just link the URL to the image in the post and it should show. Sometimes it can be a bit wonky depending on where you link them from, like from wikis.
