I assume it would be like the Worgen racial, where there is a brief timer that leads into the Arakkoa becoming in flight mode, functioning as a flying mount without a timer.
Of course, you’d have to be of the appropriate level to fly as one, as well as any other requirements needed to fly in an area. Flight speed would likely be the max speed of what you currently have via trainers as well.
Not sure if I would have them with Druid perks, like being able to harvest while in flight mode. It’d be nice to have, though I’d be fine without that ability.
It would be something pretty unique to have a race be able to fly. Not sure if many other races would be able to do that, but I do think it’d be an important part of Arakkoa to have.
I came across a really cool art piece of an Aarakocra Monk on DeviantArt with a macaw parrot feather pattern. It was created by Devtexture and uploaded to the website on July 18th, 2018.
In thinking of the type of feather pattern I’d want my Arakkoa to have, I really like the parrot theme with green feathers. This art piece, while having red feathers, does help to show how that could look like. I don’t know if Arakkoa would have a parrot look to them, but at the very least, it can help inspire some feather colors and designs.
I’ll be gradually looking for more pieces of art and such to help out with playable Arakkoa idea inspiration. Also, 36 days until the next expansion is announced!
In thinking of Arakkoa dances, I remembered the song “Rockin’ Robin” and went to see if I could find dances of it. Here are some I found:
Dance Fitness dancing to it:
East Coast Dance Company group dancing to it:
Instructional Dance for children on how to dance to it:
Not sure if this would fit male or female Arakkoa, but it seems like a possible dance for them. I’ll be sure to look out for other possible dances for them.
Ideally, I’d like to see both cursed and uncursed Arakkoa as an option. I know there are fans of both, and I wouldn’t want anyone to get discouraged if one got in over the other. I don’t really know the best way of going about doing that, but I’m sure it is possible in some way. I think having both options with some differences in racials and such would be neat for world-building.
For me, I’d go with an uncursed Arakkoa. I like the aesthetics better with wings, which I think would be important to an Avian race. This isn’t to say it should be the only option, of course. It’s just my own personal preference.
Had a video in my YouTube recommendations showing off some beautiful bird feather color patterns. I thought I’d link it for Arakkoa customization idea inspiration. Not sure why bird #3 got skipped in the list, so be wary of a sudden skip around then:
Also with today being my birthday, I’m sure you can guess what will be part of my birthday wish!
I had a thought that they could have the Cursed ones go Horde so the Horde gets a race steeped in void magics, while the High go Alliance and just add to our already Light based bois. Though They use the sun which is something more Tauren like so… it could be interesting.
People have mentioned that the new Dracthyr race coming in Dragonflight is using a modified high Arakkoa model/skeleton. I thought it was a modified female Worgen skeleton, but it was something I wanted to note here.
If it is utilizing an Arakkoa model/skeleton, I could see it being a good thing for playable Arakkoa. Not a guarantee, but it could give a skeleton to use in designing playable Arakkoa, although I don’t know how Blizzard would handle a playable cursed Arakkoa model. Also with Dracthyr having wings, it could also help benefit playable Arakkoa that have wings.
Seeing the Dracthyr animations and how they can fly during some attacks involving Evoker skills, I’m curious if there could be a racial for Arakkoa with wings doing something similar.
I don’t imagine Arakkoa being only one class, so I imagine if it was something used in combat, it wouldn’t be anything grandiose. Maybe it’d be something you could use to move quickly, which would be useful in raids I assume, or help escape from a group of mobs that decided Azerothian Fried Chicken sounds lovely for dinner that day.
It wouldn’t be an instant flight form, though I do think a flight form of some kind would be a must for playablr Arakkoa (with a few seconds of getting ready before flight form is intiated, of course). Of course, the issue is if cursed Arakkoa would be an option for playable Arakkoa. It is hard to know what direction Blizzard would go with them.
Just an idea I wanted to throw out there. It isn’t perfect and needs fleshing out, of course, but in some cases, I can see it being fitting to Arakkoa in general.
It’s a little sad to know that the Dracthyr likely won’t be able to use their wings as a proper flying mount. We’ve been told information that goes both ways, but it seems the most consistent is that their wings will function as a Demon Hunter glide 2.0. Ideally, it’d be a true flying mount with an instant cast like druids have. We know that have a permanent pair of wings and have a similar build to the Arakkoa who we know and see are capable of true flight using their own wings.
