We need these Birbs to be playable. WoW imo needs to double down on its Race options as its one of the most pronounced advantage of WoW over other MMOs
players that only want to play humans or Elves can easily leave the game at the drop of the hat. there are literally TONS of options for such players but for players that want to play AS a Birb- to play as an Arakkoa, their options are limited. the options to play other unique characters in wow are also limited factors that if they were an option would leave players little choice but to stick with this game as there isnât much else to fill that player fantasy.
and further, as time goes on, if WoW fails to add these unique creatures as a playable race, someone is going to make an MMO or an existing MMO will add such options and the draw will taste âfirst bloodâ and establish a hold that could claim the renown as the first and best option to play as that sort of character aesthetic.

WoW and Everquest 1 & 2 have been one of the few MMOâs that have had a decent variety of playable races that a lot of MMOâs seem to lack in general. WoW has a lot of awesome NPC races that would make for some wonderful playable races and attract players to the game.
I canât think offhand if there has been another MMO with a playable bird race. If there isnât a MMO with such an option, then it would be a pretty exciting announcement to have a playable bird race for WoW. Moreso when you consider how Arakkoa have been requested since the Burning Crusade days.
Iâm hoping weâll continue to see races people have requested being added to that character creation screen overtime. After all, new races are long-term assets that lasts throughout the lifespan of a MMORPG, and would make a lot of players happy to see their dream playable races become a reality. The more races there are and the more variety there is, the better for players and world building, in my own personal opinion.

With my free one day game time running out soon, I wanted to post a fun fact.
It was originally planned for MoP to have a race similar to Arakkoa but more akin to Crane People.

Ahm,why the spamming? Oh nvm, just realize they are different I need some coffee.
Not gonna lie.
Iâd still want Arakkoa but uhm⌠Bring on the crane people!

I would accept both. After all, there are several species of winged peoples in fantasy games like D&D and other roleplaying games. Tengus, kenkus, aracrokas. We just wait for Blizzard for them to finally come to Azeroth.

It would be interesting to see the Arakkoa show up with some lesser known variants that are cranes or other birdsâŚ

Given their origin, it would be nice to see similar avian Wild Gods create their own version of Arakkoa and to watch the different factions of them interact.
Thatâs at least the only way I can think of for bring other types of birds into the mix, since technically all standard Arakkoa are the same kind of bird.

Weâve not had too much interaction with the Kaliri theyâre sorta based on. There could be plenty of other colorations and designs potentially. I wouldnât say they need a new Wild God necessarily, as much as just a addition to them that they could show up as different types.
I recognize thats a significant deviation though.

Been thinking more on where they might setup and the Stonetalon Peaks sprung to mind.
Not really a used zone and could be invigorated by a storyline with them taking Roost there.

Happy U.S. Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it!
I found a neat video that shows how intelligent birds can be:
I imagine Arakkoa could be as clever in many situations!

Hope to see the Arakkoa one day playable.

I like arrakoa as a concept, but I think the 2 archtypes, the broken ones we see in dreanor and outlands, and the ones worshipping light themes would most likely go to 2 different factions due to their general dislike of each other (as one is void worshippers and worships anzu, the other sthe light and rakmar.)
Quiestion is what faction getâs who?
My opinion the broken arrakoa could go horde so they can get a void themed race, while alliance getâs the other.
What do you think?
Blizzard needs to do something that regains playersâ interest and confidence.
What can be done faster and with less risk of yet another harmful side effect are new races, classes/specs.
Arakkoas would be a good choice. I confess that I would like to see them in the alliance, since sauroks and setraks are something more possible in the horde and the alliance would not support another joke like junkgnomes, obese humans and purple blood elves of the horde.
The alliance needs something that will revitalize the faction and return some appreciation to the blue faction.

Youâre not the only one who thinks that way.
You are not the only one who wants this.

That is always good to hear my friend.
I think Iâd make my Arakkoa (depending on how theyâre released) either a Shadow Priest or a Paladin.
Just sounds fun.

It would depend on what faction they would end up on what kind of character Iâd create. If they ended up on Alliance, I have the idea of a male Arcane Mage. I was also considering making him a plate class of some sort, likely a Warrior (havenât decided on spec), as a bit of nostalgic memories of the Dread Hawk enemies you fight in the Great Palace in Zelda II.
Iâll have to give it more thought and see what their class selection would be, along with what faction theyâd end up on if they did become playable.

The Arakkoa have material to promote a very rich and deep lore, as they are a race that worship both the LIGHT in the form of their patron deity, the fenix Rukhmar, and the shadows, in the form of the doreven god Anzu, which has a history romantic better than the one told in the Twilight saga.
This makes the Arakkoa a complex and nuanced people.
RP would have no limits.
