well the actual point of my post is since we cant play them as alliance, doing their quests if you arent horde, is pretty thankless. the only lasting upside is it was necessary to open argus
People using a machine to do what was once done with a shovel doesn’t devalue all of the past work done with a shovel. it just makes it less necessary in the future.
The same goes for this. From my understanding of it, they’ve already reduced the requirement from what it once was. So why not go a step further?
To all the people who are saying things like “I had to earn them so everyone else should” or “people just want things handed to them” I have two questions for you.
Firstly, where does it end? There is a ton of things that players had to do back in the day that we no longer have to. Should that not be the case? Should we have to go back to attunements for dungeons and raids because other people did them and they had to put the work in? Should we go back to weapon skills because other people had to grind them out previously and they put the work in so why shouldn’t we have to? I can go on and on and on with examples, so what is the line?
Secondly, if you feel rewarded from earning these rewards that’s great, but what does other people not hurting them matter to you? How does someone getting these allied races somehow diminish the work that you did and the pride that you get from that work?
For someone who doesn’t care about ever unlocking Nightborne, it already is obsolete. Holding a race hostage behind it doesn’t mean people will care any more for it than they would without it - it just means they’re forced to do it, likely skipping the story on the way.
I don’t think that is really better. Many people are not going to care about Nightborne lore just because others do, and nothing you force on them will make them. Let it go; people like me who enjoy the story and lore will do it/get to it eventually.
That could easily be changed if or when they unlock Allied races for everyone. I would actually be in great favor of the change, so people who get interested in their Nightborne’s background and lore can go do the questline!
…Heritage armor is unique, one of a kind armor for specific races. How is that not enough for you? Especially so if it is what carries over the original requirements, such as reputation maxing, full storyline/achievement completion, etc?
What ridiculous and frankly childish gatekeeping.
The same people rip thru to max level raid log do 4 keys and cry wa wa wa wa wa no content
Digging a trench with a shovel or a backhoe or an excavator is still digging a trench . So now you can do the good suramaritan easy with 150+ ilvl .
Doing these allied race grinds is content in the same way that mowing the lawn with a pair of scissors is a way to spend the day.
So is running the same dungeons 400 times content or is wiping 200 times progging mythic content ?
Running dungeons is fun.
Spending a dozen plus hours questing in old, outdated, irrelevant zones is not.
running dungeons is fun. That’s a very subjective opinion. But then again my io score for season4 of sl and season 1 of df is a combined 0. To me the dungeons have become so mind numbingly boring because of affixes and a complete lack of creativity I just don’t bother.
Now imagine if the next race required KSM. Having to grind out content you don’t like is bad, especially to unlock a playable race.
I would not come to forums to cry about it. Blizzard making a new race based on ksm would be humans with longer hair. Ksm mounts are so original for every season zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I still remember having to grind in argus to get the lightforge unlocked…the highmountain tauren too…the kul tirans shudders
You guys have it pretty easy now. Just do the Legion and BFA campaigns on an alt. No more rep grind…
Mounts don’t affect core gameplay. Races do.
With allied races being 2 expansions ago and everything being squashed and messed with it is time to unlock these with an easier way than achievements that are time consuming that are hard to track where you are in the progress or even make them buyable in the shop (ik ik but they need to be easy to get). Honestly races do have some gameplay things so it can be upsetting to buy it but in the end race isn’t going to make that HUGE of a difference in the grand scheme
Great analogy.
It’s clear in this thread that the “I SUFFERED THEREFORE THEE MUST TOO SUFFER!!” people are majorly outnumbered. Hopefully Blizzard notices this and decides to ditch the requirements for these.
You’ll never convince everything of anything on these forums. But the discussion on this has been overwhelmingly positive. That’s a great sign.
I think we should still have to do the embassy quest line, most of them are pretty cool and they’re all short, but the requirements need to be removed.
Fully agree with this, I just unlocked Zandalar trolls and that took a very long time. I want to Kul’Tirans but its just the Alliance side of Zandalar and I feel that would take a very long time again and I just do not want to put in that effort again.
For newer races coming out. Yes, you need to do the required quests in order to unlock them. Because, it is current and should be locked.
For older races, you should be able to have them unlocked and free to use whenever, since the content is that old and newer and returning players probably don’t want to go back and play through an entire campaign.
Yeah, it’s like learning to fly in old zones. Once it’s not current, lets just ditch all that. It makes the game too complex and for no reason.
Let me play Kul tirians Thank you! I ll give u my money.
