Uninspiring Dracthyr Model

Just putting this here for “feedback.”

Without the ability for the dracthyr “dragon” form to show gear, the character is uninspiring and flat. There is no dimensionality, no dynamism, or vibrance. I’ve mained an evoker this entire expansion, and never gotten over this point. At first, the form was novel. Now it’s in stark contrast to every other playable model in the game. I always am in visage form out of combat, and the depth of wearing normal armor is like a sigh of relief. Every time I load up the game and am confronted by my evoker in dragon form, it’s just depressing (compared to any other character I have). There’s no flavor, nothing interesting. The dragon model options are vast, and really cool, but at the end, there’s no armor.

I don’t care if it’s complicated to integrate current armor onto the dracthyr model. I also don’t think it’s a defensible position, when it’s literally just a cost-saving measure. That was fine at the release of Dragonflight, but is getting old very quickly.

Also…let us pick the race of our visage form. Literally not complicated. I get that the dracthyr visage form has some dragon textures, but Ebonhorn, nor any of the other visage forms have those scale textures. Just let our visage form be a base race, no textures or customizations.

Honestly I don’t care much because I care more about the gameplay, but I’m never against people getting stuff that doesn’t affect me.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to treat visage sort of like dragon riding customizations.

Getting a chance at a void visage for killing sarkareth, or fyrakk/ proto visages, would be really cool and let blizz put some extra grinds in the game.

I agree. showing actual armor on the dragon body would be preferable.
Especially as the Dragon form is the real body and not the visage.
If you instead make it so the Visage is not displaying armor i’d be fine with that.

Yeah I mean I feel like it’s a missed (and easy) content opportunity for them. They could keep designing new armor sets etc just like dragonriding models have, along with all the other customizations. Would give players something to do to unlock them on top of making it more rare/rewarding to have certain others.

They aren’t Dragons. They so far share a similar origin story to DnD(Dragonlance) Draconians. Which Draconians were born from Dragon Eggs that were corrupted with Dark Magic where each Dragon Egg produced multiple Draconians from a single egg.

All we get here is Neltharion created them to create his own Dragonarmies combining the powers of the 5 Dragonflights alongside combining desirable traits of the mortal races into one mortal body. How this was done is unknown but it wouldn’t surprise me is dragon eggs were involved or if the Dragon/Demon Soul was used.

It is never directly stated when they were made. Current available lore is very sparse.

But given there are so many Dracthyr I’d imagine many Dracthyr actually compose 1 dragon if a similar magic ritual was involved. And would explain why there are so many Dracthyr in such a short time period.

All of the Aspects have draconic features? or have you missed the horns on Alexstrasa and Merithia?

The most ideal adjustments to Dracthyr, at least in my opinion, would include the following:

  1. The primary Dracthyr form would no longer display your gear at all, instead functioning like druid forms.

  2. The secondary Dracthyr form, Visage, would be expanded to include virtually all existing playable races.

Visage form should be enabled for fighting. Also, bulkier dragons forms with more armor transmogs would be cool.

Until tol dagor and waycrest are on the season playlist.

Bulkier models will make mechanics a nightmare to see in general, not to mention much harder to know where our hitbox is to avoid said mechanics.

Not really, just asking for thicker necks and limbs and such which would be “optional” customisations so if you want to op for slender lizard, have at it. Alot of people stopped playing drac because they didn’t like the visuals.

Yeah I mean I’m not against people getting things that don’t affect me either way, but blizzard likely won’t put time into developing something that they know a good number of players won’t be able to use out of the gate because it will make it more difficult to play.

More body types, I’m on board with. These suggestions of like full dragon forms are a whole different story, lol.

Yeah that’s kind of a tall order.:smirk:

I agree with these points. I just don’t feel like a dragon when playing a dracthyr. The transmog/armor is a huge part of it but the visage and also having maybe a drake like form for flying? is partially it?
I feel like the models are meh, could be a little more beefy I guess.

I guess what I am getting at is that it doesnt reflect dragons as we’ve known them in WoW and I get that they invented a new type in this expansion but it looks and feels more like a salamander than a dragon.

That’s because you’re not a dragon.

I still maintain the opinion that the Evokers should’ve just been Drakonids instead of making a whole new race altogether.

Could’ve easily changed out the lore to instead say that Neltharion created a sub-sect of Drakonids and infused them with all powers of the Flights, and then trained and controlled them to do his bidding. Just slap some wings on the Drakonids back and could’ve made it so the bulky Model we currently have in Retail is the “Male” model, and the current Dracthyr base form as the “Female” body type; or simply add the Drakonid form as one of the many body types that Evoker currently has so that we can have the option to finally play as the true beefy dragon humanoid form we’ve wanted all along.

Not to mention that the Drakonids are already capable of wearing armor in game as well

Correct, we are Glizzards.

For those wondering what a “Glizzard” is, we are a cross between a gecko and some lizard.

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy the class/race. But we are not dragons.

Yeah this is what you get when an expansion releases to early.

I’ve been saying this from the beginning! This would make me finally play an evoker, because as it stands, I don’t like the visage forms at all.

It does suck having Blood Elf like thing as visage. I’d pick Tauren or High Mtn Tauren instead, or Goblin.
