Problem: Solo Q takes too long, fragments the already small playerbase, and warps the meta with it’s specialized ruleset. Healers hate healing it, DPS players hate waiting for it, it’s a mess.
But, we still should have automated matchmaking for solo players somehow, or else there’s no way to ever get to the real fun of the game: playing on a team. Here’s the idea:
You can solo queue for 3s (or duo!), and it puts you into the same pool as regular 3s. Obviously a full premade 3v3 team will have an advantage, but that’s fine–we want to encourage people to form teams anyway.
Most of the people who are in no-voice LFG teams are basically doing this already. Q up (sit in LFG), eventually find a team, play a few rounds, group disbands, repeat.
This would solve the “fragmented queues” problem, and provide more of a path from solo
→ teamplay for those interested. Healers will still have faster queues, people will still be able to q up and get into a game on their own.
The biggest downside is that it will be difficult to push rating relative to non-solo players, although it would be a pretty huge flex if you somehow solod your way to Gladiator.

Literally nothing wrong with mmr.

Mmr as a whole no, healer mmr, yes. Most games i see go 3-3 healer with a 4-2 dps finish. Occasionally you get the 1 dps who 6-0s the lobby, again giving healers 3-3, and then you also get the dps that 0-6s the lobby, once again giving the healer 3-3. The fap in skill for a healer to go 4-2 or better has to be far larger then the gap in skill for a dps to go 4-2.

They already have solo q for 2s and 3s tho. It’s called LFG.

Show me an example of this, a screen shot after the game, and I’ll explain why you’re incorrect.
Ok lol.
You are cracked if you think so.
Healer MMR and climbing is absolutely broken in solo shuffle.
I’d even say 2v2 is broken. I should not see Pikaboo in any of my 2s lobbies. Never been a gladiator, and play at around 1800 MMR. Can’t climb past 1600 rating this season. All my games are still at 1700-2100 MMR. And I lose rating for those loses? Kinda wild. I gain 20 for winning. And lose 6 when facing a 1900 or 2k team. I can face 3-4 good teams in a row and legit depletes my progress. Get a 1700 MMR lobby, win go to 1570 CR then get a 1900 lobby lose and go back down to 1563. I should be gaining waaaaaaay more CR for my wins, if the MMR is so vast.
I am sorry dude but that is straight up a delusional take. Are you on blizzards payroll? Do you not possess to ability to understand other player’s struggles? Cause if the company doesn’t wanna address these issues, you are gonna be playing the game by yourself.
Will combining the 3s ladder with the RSS ladder make much of a difference for solo queue times? It’s not like the dps to healer ratio will significantly improve for solo queuers.
I don’t think that’s fine with solo queuers.
You’ll have a full premade team that chose its comp, is possibly on voice chat, and has experience playing together going against a random team that didn’t choose its comp, isn’t on voice chat, and has no experience playing together.
Solo queuers will end up feeding their rating to full premade teams.
This change would mainly benefit people who play on the 3s ladder at the expense of RSS players.
Wholeheartedly in favor of that. Don’t think people realize just how insanely much this would improve the soloq healer experience actually.
It actually almost certainly would. There are for sure healers (including myself) who would SPAM soloq into the traditional 3s ladder for a chance at getting glad if they can climb high enough. Get a bad match? Oh well, lose one game and go next. Queuing for shuffle is a 20 minute obligation (if you don’t afk out and waste everybody else’s time) that involves six miserable rounds with rapid dampening and uncoordinated players. On top of that it has a tweaked mmr system that is designed to SLOW progress because it wants to be similar to the traditional 3’s bracket despite having triple or more the participation. I’m not making this up either, blizz literally said this. You take all that participation and funnel it into regular 3’s and I promise you the experience of everybody involved is dramatically improved. Mmr no longer has to operate as a trickle, it would inflate naturally due to matches played. As it currently stands we have splintered players into two separate mmr pools (three if you count shuffle as two since healers and dps are split) for what is supposed to be essentially the same game mode (3v3 arena). I understand shuffle was meant to offset the RNGness of the matchups but participating in enough soloq rounds into the standard ladder would already do that on its own. I swear man this (aside from blizz actually balancing the game well) is probably the single best thing they could do for the pvp population that gives ANY crap about arena.
You don’t understand what you’re talking about. The mmr system is working correctly, blizz just chose to make healers only compete with other healers in the meme bracket so it’s literally an activity issue.
You’re wrong.

Should Blizzard just add glad to RSS? Would that improve RSS queue times?
Or should solo queuers have to go through full premade teams to get it?
I think this change would mainly make it easier for 3s teams to obtain glad. The 3s ladder gets inflated from far more participation and 3s teams can gain rating more easily from randomly assembled solo queue teams.
No, separate brackets should have separate rewards. Just scrap the meme bracket and give a real solo/duo 3s q that was requested in the first place.

Thinking of it this way is putting the solution I and other players are suggesting in a very limited box I think. You are assuming that all other things remain unchanged while they just combine the ladders together. They could do so many other things to make the game mode rewarding for all players while combining the population and making arena feel so much more alive. For instance:
They have demonstrated the ability to separate an individual player’s mmr/cr based on spec in shuffle. What if they carried that system over to the 3v3 ladder and they also made your mmr/cr dependent on whether you were solo or in a group? They could account for the added difficulty of queing solo by making a “gladiator”-esque achievement (say “Warmonger”?) at 50 wins above 2200+ as a solo player. This could come with a different color of the glad mount (“Verdant Warmonger’s Slitherdrake”) or some kind of lesser-armored version at least. This could serve to incentivize queing solo when your group isn’t online while not risking your cr you gained with the team you regularly play with. All this would serve to keep the ladder active whether peoples’ teams were online or not. There are just so many ways they could spice up the rewards system for the bracket all while combining the playerbase and making arena feel populated again.
Even florida man wacked out of his mind on bath salts never envisioned this round robin solo shuffle format when players asked for solo queue yet despite that I feel the players were open minded and gave it a fair shot but at this point it’s clearly bad and they should just give us what we originally asked for.

Big true, we all tried it and we all hate it. I only q when I’m bored and if literally anything else comes up I drop q instantly and do that. I full on expect to not finish legend wins again like I didn’t last season because I’d rather do anything else.
off topic but SV 4 set is actually a lot of fun they should find a way to implement it into the spec after this xpac imo

I screamed that after s1 and I agree with it here too. Would give different playstyles.
