Unfortunately potatoes are crispy when served with bacon

…because flying mounts ruined the game.

I’ll also argue that flying mounts began the cycle of lowbie-ganking as it provided ease of travel for high level players to low zones much faster.

nah, bgs ruined the game

WoW Classic proved that WPvP is horrible. With the introduction of Blood Elves we can expect faction imbalance to be significantly worse. Flying mounts aren’t really an issue.

it was horrible for people who want nothing to do with pvp, people that say flying mounts are bad as an excuse to not want tbc

essentially anything that inconveniences people getting to their weekly 1 hour of play a week (their raid) = bad

Please, spare us your false rhetoric.

Flying mounts got a great reception in TBC, and the opinion of them didn’t start to fall off until after cata. You rarely saw anyone complaining about flying mounts. I’m sure if you looked hard enough you could find a few here or there, but in generally nearly everyone loved or accepted flying mounts as apart of the game.

There are a few possibilities for why you’re making this post. None of them speak well for you as a person. I’ll list them for you so you can take some time and think about what kind of person you are.

  1. An agenda to mislead or drive a narrative that never existed to create controversy and persuade others to your point of view.
  2. Ignorance
  3. Stupidity.
  4. A combination of the above.

They did not.

And PvE servers exist for players who want to avoid ganking. Use them. You may be surprised to learn that a large number of players on PvP servers would rather play on PvE servers, but they refuse to do so, for various and usually weak or not-really reasons.

Flying mounts didn’t ruin the game.

The disintegration of faction identity through belf pally/goat shamans, and server communities through cross realm battlegroups(at the end of Vanilla) did though.

That and the extreme push toward class homogeneity driven by Arenas.

Speak for yourself and stop gatekeeping a game for other people.

Indeed. Player opinion of flying mounts didn’t change until Blizzard stopped designing zones with flying in mind. Deepholm was really the last time they designed a zone to specifically be used with flying (unless you count the underwater content in Vashj’ir). There were some things in MoP, like the Cloud Serpent races, but other than that, no.

Of course, designing the world with flying in mind would mean killing off Pathfinder, and they’re apparently as wed to that as they are other failed concepts like the mission table, so…

But anyways, flying didn’t ‘ruin’ the game, and it certainly didn’t ruin PvP. World PvP was already dog**** to begin with, and had been dying since BGs came into existence. Arenas and the end of the Vanilla honor system only hastened the end.

On the other hand, achievements in Wrath brought more reason for people to PvP, even those who weren’t ‘hardcore’ PvPers. I know I’m not the only one who joined city raids to kill faction leaders to get the For the Horde! achievement, and I rarely PvP unless a quest demands it.

The honor system ruined world pvp
BGs ruined world pvp
Flying mounts ruined world pvp
Arenas ruined world pvp
Rated BGs ruined world pvp
Legendaries ruined pvp
Stat templates ruined pvp
War mode ruined pvp

Notice a trend?

Ill say they did eventually. But they weren’t so bad at first. Just like LFG was great at first until they made it cross server. Unfortunately, I doubt flying in TBC classic will be the same as it was originally in TBC.

Huge severs and faction imbalance has already done it in classic.

Only time I see wpvp is farming or entering a raid. It’s never the “fair” kind either it’s outnumber and out mage. Wpvp has been nothing but run in and AoE spam or 1v5

TBC was the start of the huge faction imbalance and with player choice (,keeping classic In mind all orcs/human) it will be again.

There was tons of lowbie-ganking far before TBC.

^ Tbc is also flying only in outland so no dropping in in goldshire or something lol.

Honestly if you like to do BGs you should roll alliance. While most of the power players are going to be in Arena youll get far less premades and have instant queues.

World PvP seems to die a lot

World PVP is a myth. It’s a ton of different things to different people. The term is next to meaningless.

I got ganked all the time on my lowbie in 2005. Sorry

I knew plenty of people back in TBC who thought flying mounts were cool at first and then slowly started to hate them when they realized they made world pvp pretty much impossible 90% of the time. If players could get dismounted from their flying mounts it might be okay but being able to just LOLFLYAWAY from any possible encounter really meant you could only gank if you could catch someone off their mount, or if you had a bunch of DoTs and a slow fall mechanic.

lmao

I personally dont mind flying, but really if I could pick with or without I would select without flying mounts because being on the ground is what RPG’s are about. Sure there is the high fantasy stuff with flying but truly meh, its sorta overplayed now days.
