I didn’t say he had to reform or anything like that. Just fleshing out a 2D caricature a little more. Otherwise you may as well be fighting some random bear mob.
And with Gallywix, it will just make me roll my eyes. Dude created his own problems.
I think Gallywix works because he is a 2D loony tunes character. That is what makes him fun.
He is the boss in space jam. He isn’t the Penguin.
The problem I have with this sort of thinking is that, up until Undermine, it extended to goblins as a whole. One of the last things Blizzard devs said about goblins (that ended up getting some backlash) was essentially that they’re just a joke race and not really meant to be seen as anything more - that if you wanted a serious character, “you had Jaina for that”.
From what I’ve seen and heard from Undermine so far, it’s actually treating goblins like a race that’s worth having some focus for once but without taking away their zaniness. So it’s weird to say that the end goal of the patch didn’t need any development.
Because Gallywix will always just be Gallywix. The meat and potatoes are about the cartels.
You’re looking for expansion on a narcissistic character but with narcissistic characters, they never truly deeper than the surface. It is who they are.
It’s like puss in boots movie. The villain was fun but very surface level, dude was basically Gallywix. The deeper stuff are with other characters
Gallywix should have been killed in Cata and Her Tallness should have been our trade princess.
Gallywix represents the grimy and greedy side of the goblins that the writers seem to be trying to change. Eliminating him sort of solidifies their new start. Gallywix reminds me of Frieza a bit. Self absorbed, thinks he’s unstoppable, wipes out anybody who stands in his way. He’s like a giant booger that has been hanging from the hordes nose for too long.
Basically the difference of a great business man and a snake oil salesmen. Gallywix was always the latter.
“Go grab 12 pigs hearts!” Me: “These pigs DON’T HAVE hearts!”
No because they don’t want to spoil how Gallywix dies. The only reason we know he dies is because they accidentally left some cutscene dialogue unencrypted. I predict that they will make Gallywix’s death VERY unambiguous.
Accidentally? Hmmm. It’s funny how often they “accidentally” allow their data to be “mined”. At any rate, we don’t know if the Queen bug is dead and while Zovaal has been deactivated, what if someone puts in new batteries and hits the “start” button? Remember how they did that with Brady last night?
Right? And this was after goblin players were enslaved and then forced off of Kezan because of Gallywix (and Deathwing of course).
Having “soul” and being “edgy” are not adjectives I would have ever used to describe Gallywix.
Are we sure he dies in the Raid? It’s not uncommon for raid bosses to live.
Nathanos was almost universally despised.
Because generally it isn’t worth it. None of it means anything because Blizzard will retcon it at the drop of a hat - either because it’s convenient or simply because Metzen forgot; billion dollar company but too cheap to hire someone to keep track of the lore.
Not to mention some of the quests are just cringe. The druid lady … I avoid her and anything related to her. Got a feeling it’s going to be one of those self-righteous woman was right, everyone else around her was wrong, lecturing stories.
I unfortunately had to sit through the one arm black lady pep talking Anduin … like I get it if it’s coming from an older guy who has been through the similar things and is in a position to empathise with him, who can share his hard won experiences so Anduin doesn’t make the same mistakes. This lady is like the same age as Anduin and knows nothing about what he has gone through - she spent her entire life in that underground city.
Man you really dislike women eh
She also got her eye and arm maimed. She has fought cultists and lost people. It doesn’t need to be 100% the same but she did also went through terrible things and kept on trucking.
There is nothing wrong with her sympathizing with Anduin.
Nah. Just tired of Mary Sue writing that is so common these days.
The last story in WoW that I kind of enjoyed was Nightborne story in Legion. Thalyssra was OK. It was a little too similar to the Blood Elves’ story though.
She isn’t a Mary Sue though. We literally see, physically, that she had lost. Also emotional later on when she talks about her dead friend.
