Undermine feels like getting a monkey paw wish granted

I’ve always wanted a goblin zone and literally everything about it looks like exactly what I wanted and then some.
But it comes at the cost of us having to kill the last fun character in WoW. Gallywix was the last shining beacon of irreverence and self-awareness in Warcraft and I was hoping his grand return would be someone we’d have to begrudgingly team up with not another loot pinata.

When Gallywix dies so too will last chance this narrative had of actually being fun and edgy again. All that will be left will be the bland two-dimensional hypocrite characters who don’t possess an ounce of self-awareness or independent thought. Forever.

…when was the last time player characters even interacted with Gallywix? The Goblin starting zone in Cata? I don’t even remember him doing much in BfA.

But yes, I’m sure it’s going to be a huge deal when he continues to never show up. So edgy.

I think the rogue class hall campaign has you steal from him… but that’s it.

Goblin PCs have been wanting to kill Gallywix since Cata. I mean they could get over the entire making slaves out of them thing, but…

He owes them money.

While I couldn’t care less about gallywix least he will be better then them dragging azshara out again for the 4th time.

She always sucked…

Horde players interact with him a lot in BfA and it’s the highlight of the expansion for me.

Honestly goblin characters should get their own cutscene at the end of Gallywix’s fight. He stumbles out of his mech, holds up his hands, and says “Alright! Alright! I get it, I owe you gold! I can respect your determination! You got me, I’ll pay up! I’ll pay up!” Then he opens up a panel in his mech’s butt, pulls out a big chest full of gold… and then gets crushed by the mech. A few coins roll out of what’s left. And those are the coins you loot. Your goblin character is shown picking them up with an annoyed expression in the cutscene.

it’s still very tiring to see every character with an ounce of soul to get killed off.

I took it really bad when they killed Nathanos off. He was the only one who felt self aware, not coddling you with the “champion” nonsense which was super irritating.

And yet it seems like that’s what the player base wanted. Someone slightly snarky and passive aggressive is apparently not ok for a community who just wants rainbows and elves telling them how great they are. Sad world. Sad society. All glitter. No soul.

After what he did there was no way that Nathanos could survive. As Sylvanas’ right hand during the operation to burn Teldrassil and blight Darkshore (you can see some of this in the On Whispered Winds quest line) he had to face accountability for what he did. Letting him live, let alone remain a figure of any influence in the Horde or the larger narrative, would have been ridiculous. He was a cartoon villain and died a cartoon villain’s death.

Fr though. Interactions with characters like Nathanos and Gallywix in BfA were so refreshing because they were the only ones who weren’t insulting my intelligence by over praising me for doing stuff that any hero could do.
It doesn’t make me feel special it makes me feel coddled.

Why though… her entire story arc is legit without mockery who she wants to bed…

after what he did to my goblin, I can’t wait to kill him.

Maybe Gallywix dying would feel more meaningful to me if a bunch of other horde characters hadn’t already preceded him in the conga line into the trash bin. As is, I find it hard to care about how awful he was in the goblin starting zone when he’s the umpteenth example of “horde bad” by now. At least the Undermine itself looks like it’ll be fun.

Does the game ever give a reason as to why Gallywix wants to help Xal’atath in the first place? If he’s supposed to be smart enough to know not to trust her by returning the dark heart, then it doesn’t make much sense for him to be involved in the story at all.

Same reason he does anything. To make cash, leave and do the same thing with another people.

This has been his MO from cata starting zone.

Also, can’t wait to finally kill him.

And no, he isn’t horde bad. He was always Gallywix bad. Even when he was the “faction leader” it was actually Boss Mida, the goblin player character and gazlowe helping Garrosh. Gallywix will come here and there, do a scheme and run off with the money or go back to his pleasure palace.

Guess those that never play goblin wouldn’t know that he hardly did anything for the horde but try to scam money from them and the bilgewater

IIRC, his short story from back in MoP showed him being a bit smarter than that, though. Not that he isn’t ruthless and cruel in business, but there still has to be a point in the money he’s making, as well as staying alive to enjoy it.

Making an enemy of an eldritch being doesn’t seem consistent with that.

I consider Boss Mida ultimately unimportant when Gallywix was still treated by the game as the face of the playable race. Yeah, it made zero sense for him to be the leader after the starting zone, but that’s what Blizzard went with. Whether or not I actually play a goblin is irrelevant, although I have done their starting zone myself.

Boss Mida actually is what made Garrosh get money for the horde, before he went nuts. You like the army we used to have? Thank boss Mida and gazlowe.

And yes, he is smart but he is also a narcissist greedy bafoon that thinks he can outsmart everyone. Dude literally made deals with SL markets and our world beings.

Smart, but dumb is his whole MO to the point he kept losing to the goblin player character.

Dude is the fact only because he gets a few cinematics but the fact is, lore wise, he hardly helped the horde or the Bilgewater cartel.

thats the way the game is heading now. increasingly more soulless and PC until all that’s left is a bunch of random token characters babbling about how great you the CHAMPION of asseroth are while you murder 12 pigs (its ok because those pigs were actually really really evil and robbed a magic bank) and then everyone cheers
