Yeah Undead priests can go holy.
Why don’t we have undead paladins?
Is there really a reason at this point?

Priest and Paladin aren’t the same thing.
I mean outside the forums being me , my game and me , no there’s no reason at this point in the game to have limits of what class each race can be .
I hope it never happens.
I have a 50 pally on my main realm but I would totally roll an undead pally and level him/her up from scratch =)
Not in lore they don’t. Undead Priest are only Shadow in the story.
There are a few Holy Forsaken Priests in lore but they’re rare. I think there’s… two?
But yeah most are part of the Cult of Forgotten Shadows.
were almost to undead pallies. We got calia who is a lightforged undead so expect it soon ™
She doesn’t prove anything.
Calia was raised by Anduin, Faol and a naaru. Are you saying the combined force of these three is going to raise Paladins for the Horde? I can see Faol doing it but Anduin and a naaru? LOL no.
Yea, give us orc paladins instead
I would really like a HMT Paladin and Priest instead.
So, you didn’t actually pay attention to how that happened?
A Paladin is not just some Priest with armor and a bigger hammer. They’re literally infused with the Light - they’re basically part Light Elemental.
Infusing an Undead with Light in this way would be like infusing a person with Uranium. They wouldn’t be some grand and glorious holy warrior - they’d be in crippling agony past the point of wishing for death. If Sylvanas was less nihilism and more twisted religion, I could totally see her doing this similar to Denathrius and the Emberward, but far more personal, extensive, and worse.
An undead Paladin could not function. You know what Undead who can’t function are called? Food for the others.
the point is to get pallies you need to do more than channel the light like a priest does. It involves something similar to lightforging yourself (but not quite fully) according to lore last i checked.
The undead of Azeroth are creatures of void primarily with a bit of arcane and shadow mixed into it. The use of light energies causes excruciating amounts of blinding pain to them so living as a light psuedo construct would be kinda hard unless your a serious M.
Mrs Menethil is the answer considering she is the creation that can give us legitimate holy based undead. while not retconning more lore
Hence UD paladins as a class/race should be coming soon ™
yes yes killed by sylvanus, super ressed by alonsus and anduin into an undead that is most likely lightforged considering the naaru make lightforged dranei and tried to lightforge illidan
I guess you didn’t do the priest class hall. Then again Blizzard likes to go flippy floppy with how much/little light hurts undead in lore as well so
Priests and Paladins are not the same thing.
Priests channel the Light, which is already extremely painful for Undead because they require Shadow magic to exist (Light and Shadow are opposed forces).
Paladins are infused with the Light, just short of what a Lightforged is. Undead would be an excruciating ball of pain, misery and suffering if infused.
And, no, just because one dead lady exists does not mean it should be canon. She is an abomination and poop in the face of established lore.
Hopefully never. The undead must remain pure!
They say its because it would break lore. Technically undead priests are shadow priests. They’re not part of the religion/church of the holy light or whatever.
Paladins don’t seem to have a shadowy side, they all use holy magic and there aren’t any forsaken organizations that rely on holy magic as far as I know, so where would they go?
Then again, I’m a troll paladin which makes no sense either.
This is objectively wrong.
considering how the lightforging process seems to work I think its not too bad story wise. It seems to painfully erase whatever magic is prevalent and replaces it with light so seems legit considering they are incorporating the whole ‘light can be bad too’ trope into the lore
No, it’s entirely correct. Exceptions to the rule do not a norm make.
Undead Paladins will exist when they change the lore either in regards to how Undead interact with the Light, or how Paladins use the Light. They are completely incompatable at this point.
