Not saying it’s necessarily a bad thing, but this amount of inflation in just a .5 patch is wild.
It seems like blizzard can’t figure out how to make small well thought out changes. They needed to do something as MMR was pretty much stagnant, but they just cranked on the MMR faucet!
I’m just glad people are playing. This time any other season it’s dead af and I’m begging people trying to climb out of cardboard 7 in league to Q some games
This is awesome season ngl. I’m usually struggling to find any games, but I’ve added like 20 people to btag so far and have multiple people whispering for games any given day
Feels the opposite for me and that there’s an over saturation of LFG healers between 2k-glad range. Hopefully glad is more free than it feels atm to me though by end of season when activity is higher
Really surprised that people enjoy this kind of thing with the game. It’s not even about reasonable inflation, we’re literally about to see gladiator cutoff be starter mmr.
That feels… good to achieve? Idk man. I thought you’d want gladiator because it showed you were in the top 0.5% originally, this will be sls2 level, if not worse.
Idk
Even pve has a top 1% achieve for m+, or a hall of fame for top 200~ guilds(?)
It’s been free for anyone with a pulse since they removed the % requirement. So making it even easier with inflation doesn’t matter. People just want the cosmetics.
I don’t think this is true, there’s a notable difference in how people view SLS2 as opposed to most other seasons Gladiator mounts. Whether you agree with that or not is irrelevant, as that is how it works socially.
This is a repeat of that, and it becoming the norm seems strange as it cuts against what Gladiator was.
For clarity*
I don’t think it’s true that making it even easier by adding inflation doesn’t matter. I think it does matter, if it didn’t people wouldn’t side eye SLS2 / meme on it as much as they do.
All it does it turn it into a prestigious achievement for a lower level of player. Then like with the original glad change, the players who usually work hard to get it now find it a trivial reward. But for that lower level of player, this is now a good hard achievement for them to earn. But for everyone else it loses value.
glad will never be free regardless of starter mmr, people will still lose a lot and tank their mmr
as long as shuffle and blitz dont have mount rewards, glad should be obtainable by the top 5-10% of players imo, where r1 in each bracket will maintain your 0.5% prestige
they lowered glad requirement anyway so there will naturally be more, 100 rating is significant during glad wins
that said, im currently in the top .7% of shuffle and all i get is a temporary title if i get legend and some lame pennant
tldr: i think you guys have been playing wow for a long time (myself included) and dont realize how difficult glad is for those not attuned to pvp long term
Not fun hitting rating goals when the game just carries you up without needing to improve imo but seems to be what the majority of people want so whatever.
They still need to separate rewards between rated arena and blitz and if they are going to do this with mmr probably add some higher rating rewards.
Also this is going to lead to an insane amount of complaining every season, as SL started, when people aren’t getting 2.4k+ “where they belong” and only further incentivizes the awful not queing til end of season strat.
Honestly think titles should be percentile end of season rewards again, can keep the cosmetics at set rating intervals I guess.
This is (not trying to be rude at all) nonsense. The implementation of the title was 0.5%, it should always be 0.5%. Gladiator being reduced to low duelist range while maintaining the title is a pathetic attempt at player retainment by handing out something that historically was seen as monumentally difficult to climb towards.
I am happy that people enjoy their pixels, I don’t care deeply about it, but I do think it is pretty insane to say that it should be 5-10% of players. That isn’t what Gladiator was ever designed to be, and it has been changed because of pandering to people wanting a participation trophy when they fall short of the requirements.
Blizzard didn’t change this to make the game more fun. They changed it because they lacked the ability to design a worthwhile achievement system that made players of all skill ranges feel that their time and experience was valuable.
Yeah, back in TBC-cata when pvp was the main endgame. There’s only 26k active 3s players now lmao
the whole title rework was explicitly because the pvp base dwindled down. Same reason we see inflation. The company can spend dev hours and money designing a pvp system that is fun and exciting for new/pve players to pick up, or they can make rewards easier with inflation. Pretty obvious choice for a company
