Lol, are you for real mad that in Mechagon and Nazjatar, only a tiny bit of all Pet Battles for BFA let alone WoW, that two pets are more dominant than the others?
Honestly, I would contribute how few pets you need for the new Dailies to the increase in pet battle activity this patch.
its not about the fights, its about the pets. They can place massive debuffs on the Elite pet battles in quick succession which accumulate and blow the target up. They are actually only good for those kinds of fights and suffer in regular fights against more than one opponent.
I didn’t realize that greens were supposed to be this unprofessional.
I noticed a problem in the design of the battlepet daily fights. Not using the Unborn Valkyr and Ikky to do them makes them immensely difficult. I, too, can go out and tame the Unborn Valkyr and level it and Ikky; however, I think it’s a lot nicer when you don’t have to rely on the same exact 2 pets to do all of the battlepet dailies.
I don’t pet battle but I wanted the pet battle rep. I only get the bare minimum # of pets I need. Pet battling is dumb and with only 3-6 abilities, super uninteractive
There are other strategies that work, but Ikky just happens to be very versitile and efficient against the current collection of bosses so the guides have sort of fixated upon it.
I never used those two for Nazjatar/Mechagon achievements. I found using a combination of the Direbeak Hatchlings, Mechanical Pandarian Dragonling, and Iron Starlette worked just fine for me.
Look at what traits those pets have, and look through your collection to see what pets you have that share them or have similar traits? Or work up your own strategies? The Unborn/Ikky combo just happens to be particularly good for most of the battles in Naz and Mechagon, so it’s spread rapidly. Doesn’t mean it’s the only possible combination that would work.
P.S. All praise be unto those who generously share pet battle strats on Wowhead and so forth.
Professional in what regard? I ain’t a Blizzard employee. I am literally another player just like everyone else. So in what regard am I expected to be “professional” especially when the complaint feels so ridiculous and like its complaining for the sake of complaining?
Except it makes the barrier of entry much easier for the general player base. For example, take a look at the guide for KT/Zanda trainers.
Look at just how many different pets are suggested, many of them you need to have 3 of like 3 moths, 3 striders, 3 frogs, ect. The number of pets required for the general Pet Dailies to steamroll them is absurd for anyone trying to get into pet battles. Compare that to Nazjatar and Mechagon which have a much smaller pool of BiS pets so that people who don’t normally do these kinds of things have an easier time getting into them.
And obviously its working, 8.2 has shown a massive upswing in the number of participants in Pet Battles based off of testimony alone and I would be curious in knowing the metrics of how many more people do them in 8.2.
I get that, to you, its an absurd thought but for more complex encounters there are Pet Dungeons and the general BFA WQ pet battles require a far far FAR more varied set of pets.
Mechagon and Nazjatar make it far easier for players who have never done pet battles before to step in and start getting into the system as a whole.
Again, it seems absurd to be so angry over this when literally all other pet battle content is not like this AND that because of its simplicity its garnering a much larger pool of players than previous pet battle content has.
If you want to complain about cookie cutter BiS pets then I am honestly surprised you are not turning attention to PvP Pet Battles. 99% of the teams there are the same with things like those fel reavers that do massive team AoE damage, Molten Corgi, ect.
EDIT: Also, as others have pointed out, you don’t HAVE to use those pets. Those are just BiS based off of that guide. There are other pet comps that also work.
There is even a new pet from Naz to add to the list that I will be excited to see going forward. An aquatic pet with black claw and swarm. Chitterspine Skitterling.
Paired with Unborn Valkyr in the future, will be an undead boss pet killing machine.
