Unarmored Mounts Megathread 2.0

This attitude is literally the antithesis of what classic is about, I guess everyone who wears tier 3 will be a poser right? Everyone who plays classic is just a wanna be? Give me a break… it’s a completely separate game.

But please continue to put forth such poor reasoning, it only helps our cause.

Going to play retail now, never got the purple five and dime. Might just replace my favorite red one.

As long as the Amani War Bear doesn’t go into their mount key chain on the retail servers I don’t care. The bear was earned in a short window of time but it still had to be earned. Presumably the same would be the case for the BC server.

The unarmored mounts are a different story. They became rare and desirable because they were only available for short window of time and then were taken away. If you were like me and your vanilla server wasn’t even live before the patch they were removed they simply didn’t exist (except for the stables with the NPC present offering to trade them in). Their rareness was because it didn’t really occur to people what they were giving up. You can’t recreate that. The thing that made them special was a circumstance that can’t be recreated. Putting them back in the game for every random to buy takes away from that unique circumstance that created them in the first place. Because they didn’t exist on my server I never got to see someone riding one but if I was one of the few people that still play that had one I wouldn’t want them handing them out to everyone now. Just like I’m annoyed at the recoloring of my Amani Bear mount which was a pretty lame thing for Blizzard to do.

The importance of their “epeen” ness is absolutely not even remotely as important as their value as game assets… the mounts are awesome regardless of whether or not they were removed. They are just normal mounts, made “special” through scarcity.

Your personal experience has absolutely nothing to do with classic wow, neither does mine nor anyone else’s. With your line of thinking battlegrounds should be in at launch since you didn’t start playing until well after launch. Tough crap, you missed out on the mounts in retail, hopefully you have an opportunity to acquire in classic… if you want one… not because they are “impressive”

A much better position, though still a double standard. Whether or not they are Rare and Prestigeous in classic lies entirely on blizzard’s shoulders. Any reasonable player that wants to play Classic, would like the mounts in their game as shown by the hype in this thread.

I whole heartily agree that Classic should have 0 impact on retail, and vice versa.

I honestly don’t see why there would be an issue with having current WoW affected by classic. If we just play classic, we won’t notice what’s going on anywhere else and honestly, I think it’s a bit selfish to make that request.

The biggest effect it’ll have is sending a bunch of people who otherwise wouldn’t play the game to classic. That’s fine. You have more classic-temporary people in low-level battlegrounds, lower-level dungeons, and eventually, raids. That’s fine. Real classic had a ton of cycling in/out of guildies and such.

Cause games aren’t supposed to be fun after all…

Bringing on the unarmored mounts!

I think they’re overreacting. New folk can’t take their newly earned unarmored mounts into Retail, so the original unarmored owners will still feel like snowflakes. It’s a non issue.

If you want your loot tokens, and everything is accessible to everyone, retail is > that way.

In Vanilla we didn’t have everything we wanted handed to us and we liked it that way.

You really misquoted, there.

And if it was directed at me, you’re not doing anyone any favors by putting words in people’s mouths.

Yeah sorry. Forum formatting unfamiliarity.

No worries.

Still, I do think the pristine nature of unarmored mounts can and will be preserved in Retail. Nobody can get them there, and those that are still around that still have them can flaunt them and get that street cred.

Classic is a separate game, so even if some new upstart grabs an Ivory Raptor, they can’t show it off on retail and expect the same level of gratification that OG Ivory Raptor owners have.

I just don’t like Blizz’s reasoning that unarmored mounts will make people rush. Not only is that silly, but they also shouldn’t try to dictate how people play Classic. Unarmored mounts were Vanilla so they should be Classic.

My intention in the quoted text should have been more specific, for example. Unarmored mounts and the like (Amani War Bear) shouldn’t cross over, A classic specific feats of strength tab or Amani War Cub in retail could be really cool for players.

1000g is in no way a hand out in Vanilla.

I heard people say they will rush to 60 in 2 days and get Ragnaros killed in less than 7 days. And you are telling me these mounts that will be in the game for more than 4 months will be considered rushing, Blizzard? Please.

Hehe indeed.

I would be OK with them being in the game for a month. Anyone who gets one gets one in that time. Everyone else is out of luck.

No, because at how the community is at this point regardless if you’re a WOW classic fan or not…Nobody will be ever happy.

If they put it in then some people will get it, others will not. Some people will be quite happy but six months down the line or however there will be massive QQ from others.

So Blizzard for better or worse has learned the golden rule when dealing with these sort of issues. Fix the problem by avoiding the problem. I believe the people that would prefer this to be put in would outweight those who would inevitably QQ but it’s just my opinion.
