I’ve been attempting to prepurchase D4 using my balance but I’m hit with an error every time. I’m from Canada, for reference, and the total displayed on the shop is $119.99 for the deluxe edition. My bnet balance is $120.99, yet I’m hit with “You don’t have enough balance to cover the cost of this purchase”. Is there tax on game purchases? If so, why isn’t it reflected in the total price before I have to pay? If not, why can’t I use my balance in this instance?
Any applicable taxes are actually displayed before you can finalize the purchase.
It’ll be displayed on the right side of the page where you’d click Buy Now.
Thanks for the response. Submitted a support ticket and managed to get a quick response. Tax is applied after you click the “buy now” button which is why I was getting an error stating I don’t have enough balance. I feel as though the “final” price shown should in fact be the final price. Alas, have added the additional tax amount based on my location and it worked.
This is not accurate. I don’t know the message you got from the game master, but it should not have been anything along those lines.
As I mentioned in my previous post, default behavior of the shop is to show cost breakdown on the right side of the page BEFORE you click Pay Now. Including taxes.
I feel it did at one point, but I may be misremembering. Sorry for the confusion, Reapr.
It is correct. I tested it out and the Buy Now is before the Pay Now. It is a bit confusing. The OP had posted on the forum for the Bnet shop and I was troubleshooting it so tested, and yeah Buy Now come before the tax, then you get the last step to confirm payment method and Pay Now.
The buy now shows you the base price of the item. When you click on it and go through to the pay now section it will readjust for regional taxes and what not.
Oh, I see, I see. The confusion stems from the difference between what is essentially the “add to cart” page and the checkout page.
That is also standard behavior for literally all online retailers in this country, regrettably. Beyond that… hm.
Yep. Their “add to cart” seems to be called “Buy now” which is really confusing and most people won’t press until they are ready to actually pay and checkout.
Of course, Blizzard does not have a cart that lets you get multiple things I don’t think, hence they don’t use the normal terms people are used to.
Makes me wonder how many other people have been confused and shied away from purchases as a result.
