Unable to transfer character between accounts

I have two accounts under the same Battlenet ID. I purchased three character transfer bundle and already successfully transferred one character on one account to a different realm on the same account. However, I want to transfer a character from the second account to the first account, but receive an error that the realm already has too many characters. I have less than 65 characters on the target account. I should be past the 72 hour cooldown from the previous transfer.

I tried submitting a ticket, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to actually submit one. I fill out the form, but there is no submit button. I’m just offered links to related articles and even if I select “I still need help” it just eventually leads me to the character unstuck feature, which I don’t need. I tried submitting both in game and on the support site.

Firstly - this is for Retail, correct? None of the Classic/Progressive Classic games?

And just to cover all the basic issues - the account you are transferring to? It is the same expansion level? You’re not trying to transfer from an account that has a TWW license to one that only has BFA?

I remember it was kind of borking out even if it was the originating account was close to or at max. So try deleting one or two, see if that clears it up.

It is for retail. Both accounts have The War Within expansion. The character I want to transfer is already level 71. I’m just trying to reduce the number of active subs I need to maintain.

I do not want to delete any characters on the main account. I just created a new character today (60th character), but this problem has been occurring even when I had less than 60. I’d rather not have to recreate the character to have to level it and gear it back up.

The account I want to transfer from only has 12 characters total. Admittedly, the target account is approaching it’s limit, but I’m not quite there yet.

Bnet accounts or wow acvounts.

Alrighty, thank you for tolerating my questions.

I don’t know if any of our SFAs are still around this evening, or if someone else has any suggestions or workarounds, but my suggestion would be to go ahead and submit a ticket on this. Perhaps you’ll get a response here while you’re waiting in the queue, perhaps the ticket response will arrive first. It’s hard to say sometimes.

For this, you’ll want to submit a ticket under the “Purchase Failure” option. The purchase of your tokens are not working as they should, so this is the most appropriate path.

Now, I can never recall whether you’ll get a templated response at first with this particular ticket path - but if you do, don’t sweat it. Most ticket paths send out a templated response to negate the need for someone to have to wait on a GM response. Just kick it back with the button that is “I still need help” or thereabouts.

I defaulted to that thought too, Darth, with the recent-ish changes. But then I noted that it was specified in the OP.

Thanks for the link. For some reason, I’ve been unable to actually submit a ticket (in game or on the website). I’d fill out the form, but there was no submit button and I was just lead to a list of related articles. But the link you provided took me to a different form and it did have a proper submit function. So, we’ll see what happens.

And just for reference, I had previously transferred characters from the second account to the first one a few years ago. It just decides today to give me grief about it.

Two questions:

  • Is the realm locked?
  • Does the destination WoW license already have existing characters on that realm?

Destination realm is Greymane (listed as Low population). Destination account and realm has 22 characters.

Update: Still waiting for a reply to the ticket. Still receiving the error about the realm already has the maximum number of characters. Something I noticed though is that I do have a number of deleted characters that are still available to restore (four on Greymane, four on Eitrigg).

If you counted the deleted characters, then I would be over 65 (assuming I would restore them all). There doesn’t seem to be a way to permanently delete a deleted character. I’m wondering if they are counting the storage needed to maintain data for the deleted characters that is producing this error. Does anyone know a way to permanently delete a character?
