the character transfer button is greyed out and nothing happens when i click it.
plus my characters are on a locked realm which i feel should allow for a free transfer?
In which version of the game are you trying to use the transfer?
If it is Season of Discovery, then transfers are not permitted there.
Realm Restrictions
- Season of Discovery transfers are not possible to or from any realm of any kind.

i am not sure what season of discovery is?
i am just trying to play wow classic cataclysm, most of my characters are on old blanchy and i want transfer to pagle
Cataclysm Classic should be fine to do transfers.
Are you seeing any error messages at all?
Season of Discovery is a seasonal version of Classic Era (i.e., non-progression realms).

no, just a greyed out button. it says “6” “character transfer” “transfer your character to another realm” its clickable but nothing happens
Try doing a WoW User Interface Reset incase of a UI Error caused by adddons or bad data.
Because it could be just that, and might be the reason why nothing happens when clicking on the transfer icon. Please note, this is not the same as just disabling addons or /reload ui.

unfortunately this did not work. i followed the instructions exactly, uninstalled curseforge and renamed the files
If that didn’t work, and none of the restrictions are met, then next best option is to submit a ticket under purchase failure. A Game Master might be able to provide more help than what can be done here on the forums.

so i clicked shop while at my character and i have the option to do free transfer… it seems to be working…
